Hi I stayed at Poly. in Oct. with DH for our 10th Anniversary:hug: . We are annual passholders and Fl. Residents we go to Disney almost every month or every other month alot:thumbsup2 . This was our first time at the Poly. we love to go there every vist for dinner or just to have a drink we love it there. But when we stayed for our Anniversary we were very disapointed:sad1: . For the money you don't get a thing not even turn down service or a mint on your pillow :confused3 . I think they could do better. Disney has always been a big part of our lives. I was born and raised in Fl. so I have been going since I was 2 I am now 38. DH proposed to me at the Grand Floridian :flower3:  . We have 2 DS that think this is our second home:rotfl2: . Is turn down service extra? Please can anyone tell me the answer! :thanks: :disrocks:

If your not staying Club Level where turn down service is an automatic thing that you will get, then it needs to be requested. If you are able to get it there is no cost for it, however other guests like to leave a tip for the housekeeper who does it for them.

Hi CR Resort Fan 4 Likfe we were in the figi building. For the money they should turn it down for you. Thanks for your reply.

I agree with you that for the cost of the Deluxe Resorts it should be automatic in every room, but it's not. I do know that if your staying at the Grand Floridian all guest rooms get turn down service, so they are the only Resort where you don't need to be staying Club Level to recieve it.

It's too bad that you were "very disapointed" in the Polynesian overall because of the lack of a turn down service. Turn down service can be done free of charge but it must be requested. Just curious, but was there anything else that you were dissatisfied with to make you "very disapointed" with the resort as a whole? Just curious :)

Can I ask why you were expecting turn down service? Who told you that it was automatically done? I wouldn't asssume I would get it just from the cost of a hotel. But maybe that is just me.

Disney SHOULD and COULD do better. But they don't have to, the places are FULL with the so/so service they provide.

Turn down is a STANDARD service at deluxe hotels. But "it's Disney so it's OK to pay more and expect less" :rotfl2: (Would you do that with MK?)

This is why they don't get the top ratings from agencies.... they just provide the bare minimum not a true "deluxe" expereince.

If you understand that you are paying ONLY for location and "pretty" then you are OK. When I looked at the prices they are getting now, "pretty" was not enough. Location was good, but not that much better then a mod so...

I would assume if I was paying for a "4 Star" hotel that I would get turn down. This is a typical feature of a 4 Star hotel. Price is irrelevant per se, but the star level is what matters.

In the end, maybe they should rate themselves as a 3 or 3.5 star hotel (due to theming).

Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, love the resorts, but the cost benefit is not there at most of the resorts, including the Grand Floridian. This wasn't always the case, I just think the market has grown and Disney hasn't able to effectively respond without keeping their balance books where they want them.

:thumbsup2 I agree!

For now, we just automatically pick up the phone and request it as soon as we check-in (club level or not). But I cant think of another hotel we stay at where we have to ask for it.

Disney Deluxes used to have automatic turn down service for all guests - we were quite surprised when we found out it was now by request.

We did request it last December and 3 out of 4 ngts it was very nice with mints etc.

GF has turn down for all guests.

Am I the only one who doesn't like turn down service? When we travel in other hotels, I pick up the phone to request not to have turn down service. I just like my privacy and find it intrusive.

I do not want turn down service, I like them to straighten the beds, do the towels, garbages and then out and stay out, lol!

We enjoy returning to the room and finding the beds turned down - so pretty and inviting after a long day (even though we break up the days :) )

I agree. I'm not a fan of turndown service. I don't like the idea of people coming and going from my room except for one a day to replace towels/etc.

Okay, young mom here on a limited budget who always stays value disney or not, what is turn down service?

It sounds nice, I am assuming it is folding the covers back maybe? I feel like an idiot asking this, but just curious.

Turn down service generally includes removing the bedspread, turning back the duvet and sheets, arranging the pillows and will typically include a small bedtime treat - chocolates, a small message, that sort of thing. Also, a very quick check on towels (replacing and removing used towels) and trash (just throwing away any rubbish in the basket/bins that accumulated in the time since housekeeping cleaned earlier in the day).

I think turn down is yummy. I don't "have" to have it and it wouldn't ruin my stay if I didn't receive it but I do expect it from any "deluxe" hotel regardless of location. It's just one of those things that I feel is a "given" at any resort that considers itself in the Deluxe category. I think that I just assume it isn't in the deluxe category if I don't receive it. I don't expect turn down service, but have received it on occasion, in any other category of hotel or resort. It's one of those perks and "nice to haves" that IMHO comes with a higher category resort.

If we could ever afford $300+ a night (for a week), I would expect at least turn down service. Shoot, they should tuck me in every night w/a nice nightcap :cloud9: !

I've never had turn-down service at the Polynesian and have never requested it. It's not really important to me. However.... that chocolate or mint on my pillow would sure be nice! :) Might have to request it at least once when next there.

Another here that always requests not to have the turn down service. We stay CL most of the time and just don't want to be bothered with it. I do however think it's a very nice thing for those who want it. :)
