Turn Down Service at Poly

No one is saying that their vacation would be totally ruined without turndown service or that they feel entitled to things they didn't pay for. IMHO it is ridiculous that Disney deluxe resorts - which certainly come with the deluxe price tag - don't truly offer deluxe ammenities. Of course, having said that, we still stay in them so I guess we're part of the problem! :-)

Very well said. :thumbsup2

The one amenity that the Poly does offer that off site deluxe resorts don't is the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Face it, that is where a huge amount of the room cost comes from, location and axcess to the parks. I will let the other off site deluxe resorts keep their chocolates and USA Todays, and take the monorail anytime!

Each person has to decide what is important to them. And you need to understand what Disney does and does not offer at their resorts. If turn down service is important to you, and you want to stay on site, then you need to do your research so you know how to get what you want. Assuming you will get something is a way to get disappointed.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I can't help but think that if the lack of turndown service is the worst thing that happens on your Disney trip...then you had a pretty good trip.

I understand the concept of different strokes, for different folks. But I can't help but think that if you are fortunate enough to possess the necessary resources to stay at a deluxe resort, is the lack of turndown service really a dealbreaker?? I would think the other amenities offered (such as the convenience of being a monorail resort) would offset this issue with turndown service.

Not offended trip was great but Poly. is not worth the money.:goodvibes

I want turn down service, I want to go back to my room and find Kevin Spacey with a cup of hot chocolate and nothing else to give me a goodnight kiss but there isn't much hope of that one can but dream.

:rotfl2:

And that is where the magic happens *inside* of the room instead of outside of it. :rotfl:

Sorry, but the whole idea of "turn down" service just seems plain lazy to me.:rolleyes1 Do you have a servant turn down your bed when you are home? Just sounds a little too much for me.

Well, I also don't have a monorail at home that takes me where I want to go but still like one on vacation. Same goes for room service, housekeeping, and Mickey Mouse stopping by my dinner table. :thumbsup2

Different strokes for different folks. That's why Disney has many different levels of resorts :goodvibes

For ME and my family, turn down service is something special and magical after the end of a very long day. It sets the mood for a relaxing evening. My kids love walking in to see how the turn down maids arranged their stuffed animals. They love the chocolates on the pillow.
Do we HAVE to have it? NOPE, but it sure is fun and nice :goodvibes
But for some it might not be for them. That's why there are many many resorts that offer no turn down :cool2:

If it seems like it's too much, for you, it probably is. The "premise" of most of this thread is complaining that folks have chosen to pay too much for what they get. :rolleyes1
Select your hotel and level of service wisely, and you won't have a problem.

We are very frequent travelers. We understand the varying levels of benefits/services. In other hotels, we don't complain when we book a basic cheap room and they don't throw in the romance package for free. If we want the champagne and strawberries, we select the package at booking. :thumbsup2 If it costs more, we're not irritated. We understand why there is a difference in price. :)

After reading the reviews from the Poly lovers here my family and I were excited to stay there, our stayed there was a big dissapointment and the monorail was the ONE and ONLY good thing about it...for us it is way overrated.

I agree it is very overrated. Don't get me wrong we still love Poly. We like to shop and eat there but to stay again it's not worht the money. Love the Beach Club and Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge. Would love to make next stay Animal Kingdom Lodge.:)

Turn down or not, I think the Poly is worth every penny. I have stayed there and asked for turn down only to be forgotten many times but it never bothered me. If I want guaranteed turndown I will stay at at resort that offers it. We will be going to the GF in September so fully expect it there. At the Poly, there is no guarateed turn down so getting it is an added bonus.

Folks, this thread is nearly a year old. :rotfl:

I think alot of you are missing the point here. Maybe I should make myself more clear. For the price you pay at the Poly. I think you could atleast get turn down service. Or something come on people remember we are paying. The room isn't given to you and think of all the money you spend the rest of the time you are there. Unless you have a money tree or a silver spoon in your mouth or maybe you were born into Good Luck Club. I'm sure you would agree with me. But yes I know we will all be back after all of this. I have been already more then 7 times since this whole thread started and am planning to be there again soon. But will I spend the money for a room at Poly. NO! I would rather do another resort like GF or even AK. I know I will do BC and BW they are nice. :goodvibes

I didn't miss your point. I just don't agree with it. You are paying for location, not turn down service. Different resorts offer different amenities. If turn down was important then by all means chose a resort next time that offers it. I love turn down service but love the Poly more so it doesn't bother me if I don't get it.

ITA...but hey, if the OP doesn't like the Poly, so what? I think with the Poly, you either "get it" or you don't. There are people that don't like it because it seems "dark" and "outdated" or they complain that it has a Brady Bunch color scheme. Then you have the people that fixate on the price and then the vacation becomes a mental tallying of if they are getting their money's worth. Any small thing that gets forgotten or it isn't like they've built it up to be gets magnified.

This is why it is so important to do your research and to make up your own mind about where to stay..I think that if you are truly worried about how much the Poly is costing you, then maybe you should pick another resort.

Like Maxiesmom said, the main draw of the Poly for many is the monorail, I happen to like the theming and landscaping too and the laid back feel of the place. And I'm not rich..I work lots of overtime and I'm blessed enough to have a stable job that pays pretty well. Count me in as another person who finds the Poly worth every penny.:goodvibes

Look at it this way, more room at the Poly for the people who appreciate it!:thumbsup2
