DVC Chit Chat Thread

DVCfan.com podcast today - they’re launching their own ad-free forum in a few weeks. I think we might now know why the board sponsor has changed.
I wonder if we can talk freely there are if we will be censored from speaking about certain brokers etc.

Either way I will will for sure check it out. The best question is.. Do I get a new persona and pretend I’m not me …. 🤔🤔🤔

I thought the same thing. I think I’ll probably create an account and keep my same user name. I actually did the same on the TUG forum although I have yet to actually make a single post - just do some reading. I don’t mind if anyone figures out who I am 😉.

The DIS chose not to renew due to a conflict related to travel agency partnerships.

That said, we truly value this community and have always appreciated the forum format. It’s been an incredible space to connect, talk all things DVC, and share insights over the years. From being among the first to discuss DVC news to tracking ROFR activity and average sales trends, it’s meant a lot to be part of those conversations.

With the transition and new sponsorship in place here, we expect there will be fewer opportunities for us to participate in the same way. That’s what led us to create our own forum, so we can continue sharing our passion for DVC along with the data, insights, and meaningful discussions that have always been important to us.

Thanks for sharing! I think I speak for many of us on these boards in saying that we think you guys are great and have greatly appreciated all your input and involvement here on these boards and with the broader DVC community. I'm sure that will continue whether here on the DIS boards or on the new ones you're launching.

Omg yes I thought I was the only one. 😭

Has definitely saved me a lot of money, though!

I purchased one and only one. It was the Star Wars Christmas Wookie Cookie. So cute. So awkward on me and the crew neck on them is uncomfortable on me, too. I cut out the neck (I cut most of my tee shirts) and wore it at the holidays for a few years. Did a closet clean out this weekend and said, “I think I can lovingly release you now.” Sigh.

Aulani had a peach one made of softer, almost stretchy material. I tried it on and almost bought it. The material made quite a difference for me.

My daughter has one; it’s cute on her. She usually wears it as her travel day/airplane shirt when we go.
I always wear my spirit jersey on travel days!

I sure hope so, but not holding my breath. Already promising to be ad-free, I’m having a hard time imagining they would want you going outside their ecosystem with your money.
There are other forums out there with less restrictions, but you just don’t see the breadth of knowledge and participation that you see here. I see that continuing

Can everyone who booked last week (just before Easter) share their experiences with the 11m and 7m booking windows?

I know the point chart is REALLY high.
1 BR at BWV (all views), BCV, and VB was very easy at 7 months. I wasn't looking too much any other resorts at 7 months out, although I did recall thinking a few times about switching my first 4-nights at BWV to CCV or RIV, and I seem to recall that, even at just 2-3 months out, I could have done that.

I think the high points for Easter week combined with the fact that it is not spring break for everyone (unlike Christmas to NYE where it is break for every school system around the country) keeps demand lower. If you peruse the availability charts at dvcfieldguide.com, they have the little box at the bottom that shows 11 and 7 month availability by holiday/season. Easter tends to have the most 7-month availability outside of Summer.

Personally (and, yes, selfishly), I think that argues in favor of some points charts adjustments for Easter - doesn't seem like demand is quite as high as Christmas/NYE week.

Also, does anyone else think it’s crazy that a Poly 2BD TPV and a BW GV are practically the same point cost some seasons…. 🤯

So the point chart at 7 months and 11m is higher than normal? Maybe I am confused

Well, our spring break is the basically the same week every year, but Easter moves around and next year our spring break happens to coincide right before Easter.

The point chart the week before Easter is $$$$.

Yeah, life would be easier if we were willing/able to downsize to a 1BD.
