So we are trying Teppan Edo for the first time. My girls are teens and have never gone to a hibachi style restaurant. Any advice? Thanks

You will be seated with other families with the chef in the middle. They entertain you as they cook. It is a lot of food. Teppan Edo was as good as any other similar restaurant. We timed dinner so we could walk right outside and see Illuminations.

Any advice?

Yes - don't touch the grill :) Just kidding. Honestly, just relax and have fun. Staff and the cooks there are so nice, and the show is entertaining without being overbearing. Don't be shy about letting the cook know if you don't want something (for instance, I'm not a fan of mushrooms) - they'll usually give you a little more of something else.

It’s OK to each order something different and share at the restaurant. They do offer some combo meals, but you can also have one person order scallops or shrimp and the other person order steak or chicken, and divide it up that way.

Try some sake, it’s delicious. And unless you are on the dining plan and really want dessert, skip it. Japanese food is excellent, but they’re not so great at cake.

That is a great suggestion as the portions are rather huge, from my memory and try the sakerita, it was so good!

I’d avoid the Julienne beef (strips of steak they tend to be tough) but the filet and NY steaks are quite good.
Shrimp adds to the show, so it’s fun for 1 person to get shrimp.

Since they are more traditional Japanese, they don’t do Chinese fried rice like a lot of hibachi places...but I love their Udon Noodles!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on a dining plan and ordered dessert, but I loved the ginger chocolate cake they used to serve (I’m not certain they have the same one on the menu), it was different but very delicious.

At several meals I've attended, some of the kids had learned some basic Japanese and had a lot of fun interacting with the table hostesses.

The kids really liked this meal and it was a show with dinner. They generally do not give knives so we avoided the beef as well as it can be tough.

This is one of our favorite places and one of the few where we’ve consistently had great food. It’s a lot of fun. The tables seat 8, so depending on your party you may be seated with others. The filet is so good. Last time we were there they still had the ginger tea cake and it’s excellent. Sake on the other hand tastes like rubbing alcohol to me.
