Truly bad dining experiences?

With all these posts lately on "worst" restaurants, etc. I am just wondering . . . how many (or what percentage, if you prefer) truly bad dining experiences have you had in Disney?

most of our "bad " experiences have been lack of good wait staff and i can think of 3 places that were bad enough to be memorable, Artist's Point, Ohana's and Boma. i'd say this last trip the actual food has improved. the problem for me is i am shelling out lots of money for a dinner at wdw and while i don't expect perfection i at least expect civility which was not the case at AP and B. our "cousin" at O. didn't visit us enough to know if he was civil or not as basically it was plop one course down and see you around next year. also those were some of our more expensive meals( we usually eat a large lunch and light dinner ) so % wise, a lot of our food budget.

I consider anything a truly bad experience if I have to ask for a manager to discuss a situation. In that regards, the number of truly bad experiences would be "0".

Have there been some not-quite-as-magical-as-I-would-have-liked experiences? Sure. But that didn't make them truly bad.

In our many years of visiting WDW, I can say we have only ever had one bad dining experience and it was at Prime Time. Both the food and the service were terrible - and yes we did tell the manager. We were told we could select something else from the menu but by then my DH and I just wanted to get out of there. We eat at many of the places that others give bad reviews (Alfredos and Nine Dragons) and these are some of our favorites. My DH and I are both easy to please and it has to be really really bad for us to complain.

I would say that we have not had "bad" experiences. We have had some dissapointing experiences though.

I consider a dissapointing experience one that makes me frustrated I spent so much money on the meal. :confused3

I try to remember that at the end of the day I'm eating in a theme park. :mickeybar

RFC at DTD
RFC at AK
Big River Grill and Brew at BW

Only ones that were truly bad.

Bad food, bad service, all round bad.

lucky to not have had any truly bad dining experiences but i have had a few dissapointing ones. last year at Fultons and this year at San angel inn. in both cases the service was ok, mainly because it was busy but the food in both instances was rather ordinary for the price we paid. we as a family look to the resturants almost like an attraction in WDW. we plan our meals like we would a day at the parks so when you get a meal that is not good you are not too happy. we wont eat in either of those places again.

We had a truley terrible experiance at RFC at DTD.

There was 8 of us and when we checked in and were told there would be a 45 minute wait and we decided to wait. After about 55 minutes we went up to the counter to check to see how much longer our table would be and they had given our table to someone else. The person taking the names said "We already sat your party, but I'll put your name on the list and it should be about 30-40 minutes for a table." I then asked to speak to a manager and then waited another 10 minutes until she showed up. At that time the manager said she would look right into it. She then returned about 10 minutes later and said she could have a table for a party of 8 ready in about 20 minutes. At this point we left and just went and got some snacks.

Percentage wise--very low % of bad experiences since 1975. A few "robot-like" servers once in awhile, occasionally an indifferent greeter at the podium. But that's about it. Our food and service have always been quite good at WDW restaurants.
Not counting Fultons, of course, where our service experience has always been bad.

We haven't had a bad experience. We have eaten at places enough though to have some days where they were not as good as usual. But even with that, we can't say that they were bad experiences.

We've never had a bad dining experience at WDW.

Our worst dining experiences were at Prime time and Yachtsman Steakhouse, neither of which we will ever return to.

Nope, never had anything "truly bad", in terms of we wanted to get up and leave at the time. But in terms of truly bad food, I have to say Captain Jack's because I threw up after eating there.

Read the very active thread on the renovated Garden Grill. It is sad but an eye opener..smjj

At WDW?? Never, ever, not once!!!! Our "worst" experiances have been average service (and not "bad" average service but "good" average service, if that makes any sense).

I've had great food and service at restaurants that have had bad reviews on both. Our favorite meal last year was at Fulton's. Not only was the food EXCELLANT but the server we had was fantastic. We also had good (or even great!) food/service at San Angel Inn, Kona's, Crystal Palace, Tony's Town Square, CRT (dinner), Chef Mickey's, Brown Derby (fantastic!!!!) and Marakeesh (sp? the Moroco sit down place). Even the counter service food was good, I really liked Pizzafari at AK, Casey's and Columbia House at MK, Backlot express at MGM, and the food court near Inoventions at Epcot. Room service at the Poly was also very good. All the places I just listed we ate at on our last trip in Dec. 2004.

I don't know if the people with bad reviews are just unlucky (which is possible, with 100's of restaurants and 1,000's of servers, someone is going to drop the ball at some point), or way too picky. I've never had even close to a bad experiance at WDW, either eating or in any other aspect of my trip. DFi has traveled all over the world and has eaten at some very elite and expensive places, and said the food at WDW is top notch. And this is a man that is VERY hard to please, and if something happens that he doesn't like, he'll say so.

Truly bad experiences? No, but I was quite unimpressed (disappointed) in Fulton's Crab House. Food-not great, just okay. Price-way too much for the food. Service-pretty good. We haven't been back.

We were under-whelmed at the California Grill. Too much flash, not much substance, IMHO. And I personally am not crazy about the Biergarten...have tried it twice; not to my taste. Both experiences were not horrible.... I just won't repeat them. Lots of folks love both......different strokes!

1900 Park Fair- 5 out of the 8 of us got extreme food poisoning from this place! It was terrible- but we are glad it was towards the end of the trip. Let's just say that we will never step into that place again!
