SUPER niche question, but was anyone with an UNACTIVATED annual pass able to score rat or guardians AP previews?
I've been holding on to my unactivated pass for a while (went to disneyland instead haha) but now ready to go back to WDW, but wondering if I'll be able to get AP previews for Tron!

Yep! I had an unactivated one I linked to my account before Guardians and scored a preview. I activated it at the International Gateway at Epcot just an hour before my preview time.

DH and I really want to be able to make it for the AP preview but we’re working with a VERY narrow number of dates we could make it, so I’ve been looking back at last year’s Guardians preview to see how it all played out to see if I think we’ll have a shot. I know Disney could do things completely different this time around but for anyone interested this was how I found the timetable went:

April 4th the emails went out to DVC and AP to “Be on the lookout for a registration email”

April 14th at 9:19am I got the email that registration was open

CM preview dates were 5/11,12,13,22,23,24
DVC 5/9,18
AP 5/8,9,10,15,16,18,19,20,21
D23 event 5/15
Open to public 5/27

@Minnie368 thank you! As a DVC newbie, I'm still trying to figure this all out. We have our welcome home trip March 22-31, so I wasn't sure how a preview for TRON might work.

As far as previews for DVC members goes, do you have be staying at DVC to take advantage? My wife and I are DVC members who will be at WDW in late March but staying at a villa off property this trip.

I hope someone with exact knowledge chimes in, but I really *think* I remember with GotG as long as the passes were in your account you were ok.

Did not work for me for Remy. Had inactivated pass and could not get AP preview booking.

Do previews last into the evening? I've got a pixie and live 2 hrs away, but would make the trek up on a Friday if I could do it at like 8pm

Yes. They’ve gone all through park opening

So a park reservation has been required in the past? Were they hard to get after booking your preview day?

No. The guest didn’t need to make their own reservation
one is included with the preview, for lack of better explanation
having a preview spot guarantee you entry to the park. You are even able to have a reservation to another park that day if you so choose
the preview is stand alone
if that makes sense

what folks think they did in the past was pull reservations from the reservation inventory to account for the extra guests entering for the preview. So they didn’t end up with too many guests in the park (in their opinion) when you added in the preview guests and the reservation guests together

I was in the DCP at the time and there were also CM previews for a couple weeks in April. The April previews were just for cast members (who could sign up for 2 time slots) and the May ones you listed the cast member could bring 2 people with them. For the April ones I did the preshows weren’t done yet but for the one in May they were. So if CM previews start over a month before Tron officially opens, that doesn’t necessarily mean AP or DVC previews will be around the same time because there could be an earlier batch of CM previews before all the ride elements are complete

@Liquidice found the time and date DVC previews would open by modifying past registrations links. Bloggers spread the link, some called it fake, and people even went as far as CALLING Member Services which was all advised against.

AP previews just happened to open the same time and date with the link in the first post.

Yeah, I love how the link I found was called a fake and a scam to steal your information

I'll try to do the same for Tron but the DCA Moonlight Magic event had the link posted days in advance, so maybe they will do the same for future events rather than me having to play with the link to figure it out

Did not work for me for Remy. Had inactivated pass and could not get AP preview booking.

Did not work for me for Remy either. And our dates did line up with a DVC preview date. So we had to wait until just after 10/1 to ride it.

Yes! The only reason we went ahead and activated our passes was that I was able to get a preview slot we could make. We activated did it on our way into Epcot for the preview. We also ended up with 2 reservations that day as well.
