Just a short report to answer (FWIW) some questions I see popping up on the board. First post so forgive any mistakes.
1. We stayed 5 nights at the Contemporary where we had stayed at least 4 other times. I requested a North garden wing room where we were before, but got a free upgrade to the Tower for some reason. We were on the 5th floor, Bay Lake side on the opposite end away from Chef Mickey. There was absolutely no noise from the Concourse area. Could hear some noise from pool area but not bad enough to cause any problems.
The room was the same as the garden wings.
2. Transportation was great - probably best since we've been going. Monorails ran smoothly and short waits for buses coming and going. We even had a short wait after watching Fantasmic at MGM.
3. Weather - some afternoon TS but good overall - over 90 every day, but this is Fla in the summer and I'm use to hot weather.
4. We've used our mugs from the Contemporary food center for about 3 trips. The new mugs have printing on them that say they are only good for the length of visit. My don't. I asked at the food court if I could use the old mugs and rightly or wrongly, they said yes. So I did.
5. Fantasmic was new for us and it is a great show. So was the new 3-D movie at MK. It's nice to see something with classic Disney charactors. This is my favorite of the 3-D movies.
6. At AK, we had always gone on the Safari ride early as the animals were suppose to be the most active then. This time we went at noon and probably saw more animals up close than ever before.
7. Off Kilter is fun to watch at Epcot but I can only take bagpipes in small doses.
8. Harbor House is the best fast food in MK. Usually relatively quiet and restful. The tuna salad sandwich is great.
9. Dinner at O'Hana - great place to go.
10. Space Mountain doesn't seem as dark as in the past. I think small lights have been added to the sides because I can see some of the structure during the ride. Perhaps this was added as a warning for those who might stick their arms to the side that the structure is close.
11. I saw something on Splash Mountain for the first time. As we floated around the bend to the last big lift the lights came on. A lady and her son had gotten out of the log at the base of the lift. When they stepped on the landing, I believe the sensor mats signaled that someone had gotten out of the ride. Many time the logs pause at the bottom of the lift to get the correct spacing. I don't know if that is when they got out or not. That would have been dangerous as the ride starts automatically when the spacing is correct. At least no one got hurt.
Probably our best trip to Disney. Hope yours goes as good!
