Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

Fabio may not win Top Chef but he is a WINNER in my book:dance3: What a great LEADER and person:yay::yay:

Does anyone know if he is working at a restaurant these days?

I know he still owns Cafe Firenze but doesn't work there - a fall out with a partner.

Would love to have him cook for me!!

:yay::yay::yay:

Only when she's trying too hard. Otherwise, I like her.

How about how Marcel thought it was an honor to be chosen as the other team lead? I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall when he got to see Dale's real strategy, especially in light of the end result of Dale's decision.

I, for one, was very happy with the outcome.

Oh, and how about Fabio admitting that for front-of-the-house service, he turns up his accent to please the crowd? :cool1:

He knows that accent is as good as gold to him. We women drool over it. He could sit a plate of the most horrid food down in front of us and a good number of us would love it as long as he was conversing with us. The accent just puts you into a trance.

DH as said if he was a woman, he'd be all over Fabio. He gets the appeal.

The Foam Man is Gone!!!

Had to laugh at Marceil's exiting comments - how he wouldn't do anything different...and his food was good - even though the judges didn't like the desert or his foam again

I hope Dale goes soon...he's just so mean...I'm surprised he's lasted this long and done so well...
See, I don't think Dale's mean. I think he's canny - choosing Marcel as the opposing team captain - and I think he's a good chef.

Ahh...what to say about Marcel? A "little" man, both literally & figuratively. :rotfl:

Glad to see him go, although, he was good to have around to watch him show his true colors.

As to the PP who asked about Fabio. I believe, while he is still involved financially with Cafe Firenze, he is actually the chef at another restaurant he owns called Firenze Osteria. Don't quote me on that, but I'm sure that's what I read somewhere.

It was good last night- glad he went home. I don't know what was up with my boy Angelo. He looked embarrassed at judges table and actually at their restaurant. I love Tiffany, but that voice was annoying. LOL
I really like Angelo last night. I liked how he tried to make peace between his teammates and tried to support Marcel because Marcel was the leader. He had a sense of loyalty and teamwork in a show that is usually "every chef for himself" even in a team competition. I liked him before and I like him even more now.

What did everyone think of Carla being selected last? I really didn't understand it at all! She is such a team player and a good chef. She's certainly not the weakest one left. Do you think that Dale and Marcel just don't respect her?

What a lopsided victory! Was it 17 out of 76 preferred Etch? Yikes! As much as Marcel hates to admit it, it really was poor, poor, poor leadership that did them in. He was complaining about the team not listening to him but how much listening did he do?

I'm glad Marcel is gone.

Nothing but praise all around for the winning team. :yay: Dale did mention he did some sort of anger management counseling. I'm sure it's helped but he slipped a bit under that stressful situation last night with the servers. Yay Carla! Yay Fabio! Blais is blazing!! :rolleyes1 ;)

I think she was talking about how he sniped at his servers. He's also been grumpy with his competitors.

The Foam Man is Gone!!!
Ding dong, the foam man's gone, the foam man's gone, the foam man's gone.

Yanno? ;) I didn't care for Dale in his season, he really was mean and just too hot tempered. But I've really come to like him this season. He's hilarious (I think anyway) and did you see how he managed to keep his cool when Marcel went "gangsta" on him? I don't know too many men that could take that kind of BS and not be up in his face. Didn't Dale say he had taken some kind of anger management courses? It showed. :) But that's just me. :goodvibes

Oh, yeah, TOTALLY agree w/ that. HE didn't need to be that way, but I think it seemed rare that people were as composed as Fabio was. Man, he did a supurb job at handling the whole thing. I love Blias but I would have liked to have seen Fabio win this one. :)

"Cheeps and deeps">> translation, chips and dip. :rotfl: I loved that one! Who can not love that accent! It's adorable!

Agree about ANgelo. I think people are a bit hard on him on the show. I really think he means well all the time. :)

And yeah, the Carla being last thing. I think it's terribly unfortunate but I don't think the other chefs trust her performance as much as they should. She has mentioned all along how no one seems to trust or like her ideas though watch her just GLOW when she listens to her inner self. :) I adore Carla w/ every fiber of my being, but I think her laid back persona scares other chefs in that they worry that she won't be as "hungry" for the win on a team? MAybe that's what they think???

He was VERY mean to the servers... changed my view of him completely. He's an excellent chef and strategist, but his treatment of the servers was inexcusable. Fabio, on the other hand... I want to marry!!

Glad that immature idiot is gone, I couldn't stand him last time and he got on my nerves last night too. He's the total antithesis of a leader! Imagine not knowing why no one is listening to him, he needs some serious growing up.

Tif's voice got on my last nerve last night, also. Surprised the judges didn't mention her laugh since they talked about it so much during the dinner. The food the losing team served looked abysmal...:scared:... YUK!

Yes this is what I meant. He blows up very quickly when he could handle the situation a lot better - like with the servers. His strategy for picking Marcel to be the other team leader was very good though.

I liked Angelo too last night. I am not a fan of his at all, but I actually kind of felt bad for him. I did somewhat agree with the judges about him jsut kind of stepping back last night, however I think him trying to step up would have made things worse with Marcel. I also don't think him stepping up would have had any impact on the outcome since they were really bad.

I loved the winning time. Dale was so smart in picking Fabio. I was almost hoping that they would have split the 10K amoung the whole team since everyone deserved to be the winner.

I've always been an Angelo fan. I'd love to try some of his food.

I'm not sure why Carla was selected last, but Carla's food seems to be hit or miss. When she's on, it sounds like there's no one better, but when it's off, it seems like it's way off.

I'm not so sure I'm willing to give Angelo a pass yet. His behavior was based on self-preservation last night. He knew that he was on a sinking ship with the way everyone was behaving in the kitchen and he was trying to protect himself. He knew that if he was on the losing team that there was a chance that he could be the sacrificial lamb. He was trying to get his team back together for himself as much as for the others.... probably moreso for himself.

Agreed, an it's probably likely that we are just plain down to 10 REALLY strong chefs. ALthough if it had been me, I would have chosen her long before Tiffany and not just because I adore Carla. Someone would have to be last despite how good they are at this point I guess. And as you said, hit and miss. When she trusts her gut, she's ON...but she can fall, as they all do.

I loved how Fabio really took control of the front of the house. He didn't just greet & seat, he managed the wait staff, which is very important in a new venture. He made sure that they were where they needed to be when they needed to be there, so no one was left feeling ignored. Even Tom mentioned that he had never seen anyone do that before.

Bourdain's blog is hilarious as usual, especially this paragraph:

I tell you, it's a mystery to me what goes on in that talented young man's head. I can only guess that in Marcel World, it's always 1998, the sky is filled with magical ponies who **** foam -- and appreciate Marcel's rap stylings -- and everybody does exactly what Marcel thinks they should do -- perfectly. And if things go wrong, everybody agrees instantly that it's certainly not Marcel's fault. In Marcel Land, Ferran Adria never existed. Nor did Wylie Dufresne, or Heston Blumethal, or Grant Achatz. He thought all of that stuff up himself. In Marcel Land, what everybody wants is more foam -- they can't get enough! And liquid nitrogen. And gels and powders. Restaurant dining rooms are packed with beautiful women, shuddering with desire and anticipation for foam, foam, and more foam and hardened Crips shrink from his approach.

The entire blog is really good and spot on. I don't always like Bourdain, I agree with Fabio that he can get too personal rather than focusing on the food but he does have good insights and is a terrific writer.

I am so glad Marcel is gone, he is just too immature and clueless. Loved Fabio last night! :lovestruc:lovestruc
