Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

Bourdain's blog is hilarious as usual, especially this paragraph:

The entire blog is really good and spot on. I don't always like Bourdain, I agree with Fabio that he can get too personal rather than focusing on the food but he does have good insights and is a terrific writer.

I am so glad Marcel is gone, he is just too immature and clueless. Loved Fabio last night! :lovestruc:lovestruc

Thanks for sharing that! That was HILARIOUS! I need to go find that blog and start reading it. :thumbsup2 I'm not usually a blog reader but this is worth it.

Hilarious!!!

So thrilled about R.Blaise! Love him--so classy, food always looks amazing. I would have loved some of those chips and dip.
I normally love Tiffany, but I can see how the chefs thought she was annoying as FOH. I think she was probably nervous knowing how amazing Fabio would be. The thing about Fabio was that he wasn't just a good "schmoozer," he was friendly, greeted the judges, directed the staff well, kept the kitchen cool, and even managed to calm the fiery Dale down! Tiffany wouldn't or couldn't do any of that.

I loved how Fabio really took control of the front of the house. He didn't just greet & seat, he managed the wait staff, which is very important in a new venture. He made sure that they were where they needed to be when they needed to be there, so no one was left feeling ignored. Even Tom mentioned that he had never seen anyone do that before.

He is the ONLY chef I have ever seen on the show who can really run the front of the house. I know this will ever happen, but if they were ever to do a "Front of the House" challenge they would absolutely have to bring Fabio back to judge it. He is that good. He got everything running, treated everybody with respect, made sure guests were happy. I want to eat in his restaurant simply because he know how to run the front of the house.

I liked Angelo too last night. I am not a fan of his at all, but I actually kind of felt bad for him. I did somewhat agree with the judges about him jsut kind of stepping back last night, however I think him trying to step up would have made things worse with Marcel. I also don't think him stepping up would have had any impact on the outcome since they were really bad.

I loved the winning time. Dale was so smart in picking Fabio. I was almost hoping that they would have split the 10K amoung the whole team since everyone deserved to be the winner.

::yes::

I think the last episodes are going to be interesting--all the chefs are really strong, but it seems to me like Angelo, Dale, and Mike also like to "play the game," and the others like Blais, Carla, and Fabio just let the food speak for itself.

Fabio is just so awesome to watch, his charisma, and charm... I love how he was able to direct the servers. And I am so glad he made the kickin cheesecake too.

No one commented on the best Bourdain comment of the night, his "compliment" to Dale, "the best stoner food ever".. I was rolling!

Marcel is immature and he certainly does not know how to lead. He deserved to go, plus he is an arrogant twit.

I like Dale much better this season. Everyone is going to get frustrated, he did but then he rebounded.

They rocked it!

I love Fabio!!!

I also love Bourdain. I thought it was funny when he said something like, "I mean really, prison breaks have more organization than they did" when he was talking about team etch.

I love when Richard was talking about his first job, and wanting to know if anyone heard of his first job at McDonalds lol. I'm glad Marcel is gone

I thought that was awesome haha him and his Filet O fish ;)
Yeah, McD's "...maybe you've head of it?" :lmao:
:rotfl: He was so avante guard serving it open faced. :lmao::rotfl2: Do you suppose he drizzled the sauce in a beautiful lattice-work or maybe did a smear of tartar across the cheese? :rotfl2:

HA HA HA!! He has so many quips like that I missed that one. Time to warm up the DVR to watch it again.

I think this will be the first time I ever buy a season of reality TV on DVD when it comes out.

I expected Fabio to win. He got so much praise from the judges... even mean ole Bourdain.

Am I the only one who was surprised that Dale picked Marcel to be the other captain? Here's how I look at this:

One team wins, the other team loses. Someone from the losing team would be going home. Dale had immunity, so regardless of which team he was on, he wouldn't be leaving. I'm surprised that he didn't pick one of the stronger contestants to lead the other team, knowing that they would have a harder job ahead of them.

Also, since they made SUCH a big deal out of the diners choosing the winning team, I was kind of expecting the result to be the other way around. I wonder what the poor judges would have done in that instance!

:yay::yay::yay:

Only when she's trying too hard. Otherwise, I like her.

I think she was uncomfortable from the get-go. She really didn't want to do it.

I see your logic ;), I understand his too. Had it been me, I like to keep people I don't like, FAR away from me. I know the addage "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" holds water, but I just don't like them to be near me. So I can understand why he did it. I would have too. Then it's kinda like pitting himself (the leader) against his arch-rival Marcel (leader) and often times, the leader of the losing team goes home. Also, picking him to lead meant there would be NO chance of him being on his team. If it had gone how it did where he picked someone else, the only person taht might have picked MArcel would have been Angelo. Otherwise he would have been on his team as the person that wasn't picked (Carla) did.
Just spit-ballin' here. :goodvibes

Hehe, no worries.

I guess it depends on what your goal is. I know I've heard Tiffany say before that she's rather go up against the best, but in a competition I think I'd rather play it to get rid of my fearest competition sooner.

Not by sabotaging them, but by playing the game. To my way of thinking, Dale had nothing to lose here. Of course, that would all depend on the outcome of the food anyway.

Interesting strategy. Maybe he was happier getting rid of the guy who drove him crazy instead of the ones who had the best chance to beat him.

I think that in "reality competition shows" with the regular joes, there is the thought process of get rid of the best, so that the sub-par can go farther. But in the shows like Top Chef and Top Shot (DH got me to watch this with him their first season), there is more of the thought that if I am going to be named "TOP" whatever, I want to win based on the merit of my cooking or shoting against a very stiff competition, not beating someone who just slides by.

Do I think Dale had a two-fold thought process when he named Marcel caption. Yes. 1st - was to keep him off of his team. 2nd - was basicly the good ol' put up or shut up. If you think your the "baddest" of us here, pick your team that can win, lead them and send one of us lesser chefs home. Marcel is one of those that can talk the talk, but can't back it up. Then pouts and trys to lay the blame for his failure else where. If I remember correctly, Padma said Dale was the leader of one team and got to name the other team leader, so that was what Marcel was. He was the leader and he lead his team to know where, but a lose.

Is there no new T.C. tonight????? Say it ain't so!
