What happens if an attraction goes down while waiting for your DAS time?

We have experienced it multiple times, waiting and riding. Last time it happened was last year. We just exit along with everyone else. It shouldn't let you book another time until ride comes back up, so we book something else and try again later if it comes back up.

OH see I took it that she had already scanned and was waiting to ride.

If she meant she had not yet returned to the ride and scanned - then yes it will turn in open pass for anything except rides it clearly states are not included. Then we immediately book another DAS. We just have to make sure to tell CM to use the DAS if that is what we are doing and have not yet used the open pass because the machines will take that.

If waiting to ride, it still should let you book another attraction and the CM at the attraction should be providing you with the same compensation that anyone else is getting, usually a recovery pass.

If they're giving recovery passes for those in standby, which they don't always do.

If you have already scanned and gotten in line, then yes you can book another ride after 10 minutes. I don't think the system will allow you to book anything down in the system, so you pick something else. Try again later.

BUT I've been in lines that are cleared and actually evac'd off of rides and the last time we got a recovery pass was when we had FP+. I've gotten nothing but an escort out in years ... so I would not expect anything. If you get something ... pixed dusted.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying, also if they don't offer you a recovery pass, ask politely, after all it isn't your fault the ride broke down. But we have always been offered at least one recovery pass, sometimes more than one, even as recently as a few months ago.

that happened to us similar too but we went to customer service because we had another party with us that were not link to our DAS

we were all given a LL good for anytime return for the ride once it was back up

It's also not always Disney's fault that a ride goes down, and I don't think it's reasonable to expect CMs to go through a line of 200 or more people and take the time to give them a recovery pass.

Since the ride is down, they have time on their hands, so yes, I expect them to give recovery passes to affected people.

You can expect, just don't be surprised if you don't get it.

Just because a ride goes down it doesn't mean the CMs are standing around with their hands in their pockets. If an evac is involved that will take most the staffing to handle.

EX: Pirates. At load a person sends you in a line and then there is one person on each side assigning you a row. Three. We once stopped as we were going down the big drop. There must have been a 8-10 CMs at our boat alone to tie it off, securing it from moving, then safely assisting all out while watching balance. There would be other boats behind us to evacuate, maybe evac ALL the boats in the attraction, empty the lines, block the front ... so many CMs pulled from other spots. CMs are very busy in shutdown situations.

Bottom line it happens, CMs are all hands on deck to handle the urgent parts of it and moving people outside the attraction as quickly and safely as possible. No doubt there is fine print in their terms and conditions that "stuff happens" ... and they are not obligated to hand out RE-ADs to everyone in line and on the ride. DAS have the advantage they can book again, so no basis for complaining.
