Too good to be true?? Rental Car Code??

I just looked at my rental confirmation printout form dollar and it says I applied:
Promotional code:OCVB
Rate Code: KISS

I got a 2week minivan rental in november for $370 total(w/taxesfees).

The next cheapest was alamo at $478.

How did you get both codes to work at the same time? I currently have a 2 week rental in September for $410 out the door and $40 cheaper sounds better.

I've posted elsewhere so I apologize to anyone that read my other post.

We just returned from Orlando, rented with Alamo using the Walmart customer codes I found on mousesavers. It was a great rate and gave me an additional driver for free. I also used a coupon I found the the website. Check in was a breeze, I didn't have to show anything, not even the copy of the coupon I printed out. Basically, from what I could tell, the people at the counter go strictly by what's on the computer in front of them. If you could enter it online, it works.

Also, this whole rental thing turned into a game for me as it seemed the rates changed almost daily. I would go back into my reservation and reenter codes and managed to knock off $15 - $20 at least 4 times. It turned into a big joke about how I would soon end up with Alamo paying me to drive their car.

Our car was great, brand new - 30 miles on it. Pick up and drop off were convenient. We went downstairs to the rental counter before collecting our baggage and beat everyone to the counter.

My advice is keep trying for a better rate - right up to the last day.

I have a minivan from Thrifty for 11 days - June 27-July7. 10:00 a.m. pick up and 5:00 p.m. drop off. I have it for $356.22. I can't use codes in some of the rental places. Is it because of being around July 4th? If someone would like to play with my numbers PLEASE do!!! I play around with them and just get frustrated because other people are getting better rates than me. Well...I guess I will go back and play with the numbers again...

Plus, I guess it is pretty far out still...Maybe when it gets closer, rates will come down...???...

Oh yargh - what a tease! This rate doesn't seem to apply for my dates.
I guess it doesn't pay to go during President's week!
I still managed to get a decent rate on Travelocity.

thanks! i got a full size for 9/28-10/5 for $158.12 and a minivan for $204.90

Did you try it for president's week? I booked the same week but only for 5 days and it worked??

I got the same rate using the promo and rate cosed as I did using only the KISS2 rate code. I was hoping to cut a few more bucks off the price.

I'm trying it for Feb 18-25, out of Miami. I work on a cruise ship that sails out of there, but I have the week off and I'm heading to Disney!
For whatever reason, despite it being a Florida code, I can't seem to get it to work from any of the Miami locations...

How did you get both codes to work at the same time?

I've tried reviewing the site and playing around with it. I'm Sorry but I cannot figure out how I managed to do so..

I did entere KISS2 as a code and was able to duplicate my price of $370 also.
Try that Fenfur and see how it works for you?

I just attempted to use the code KSAD on Dollars website. Its unavailable for minivan usage, but good for a "premium" car. Which is listed as a pacifica. It says that a premium can accomidate 5 adults. We will have 5 adults on our trip. Cost for this vechicle:
2 Weeks, unlimited mileage. $328.00

the kiss code gets put in automatically after you make the ressie with the ocvb code. you'll see it on your confirmation email.

We are going Easter week and I was having a lot of trouble getting a decent rate for anything since we aren't staying over a Saturday night.

My best bet was with Thrifty Rental. I used Corporate # 004M001010 (which is a code from the Orlando Magicard (which can be downloaded free).

I was able to get an intermediate for less than $200.00 including all fees, taxes, etc.

Thrifty is located off-site, but we have used them our last two trips and have had very good luck with short/no lines. One time my DH made it to the resort before we did and we took ME.

It did not work for me. $273 with Dollar for an intermediate for 8 days, $201 from Alamo for the same dates with the same size car.

Guess it does not work for March.

Thanks everyone, but I'm still getting my $410 for 2 weeks in Sept with all those different codes. Figment guy must have great dates for coming in in Nov.

But I'm still happy with the rate if nothing else comes along. It's $150-$200 less than what I was expecting. But I'm still open to lower rates of course :thumbsup2 .

We've been trying to apply the same codes for our trip this Easter and have had no luck with them. I finally called two companies on their 800 #'s and was told that our dates were blackout dates. I wound up getting our best rate yet at Thrifty...without any codes! The price dropped alot one night and I grabbed it. Good thing, because the rate went right back up two nights later!!

I, too, recommend trying on a regular basis. You never know when the price might temporarily drop!:)

Thanks for posting, OP!! I just reserved a minivan for end of Sept - 2 weeks (actually 13 days) for $404.- inclusive. Both OCVB and KISS2 gave me the same rate. I couldn't find a place to add a coupon, though - know where that is? I have a BJs coupon I could use. I've never rented from Dollar before, but I just might have to give them a try for that price!:thumbsup2

Ok, I found that on Dollars website, if you can find a great coupon code for a car class lower then the one you are seeking try and use it. Because when I pulled up a coupon for a "full size" estimated cost, just below they had some "upgrade options" for vehicles. The only way I saw to get those vehicles at that price was to go the backwards way of pricing a "lower class" car then what you need and then taking those online offered upgrades. Hope that made sense and that it helps someone.

I just priced the same car (compact) at both Dollar and Thrifty for May 27 - June 5 using the codes in this thread.
Dollar - $192.19
Thrifty - $178.78
This is down from the first offer I found of $214 from Alamo.
Are these good rates or will they go lower closer to the travel dates?

This code worked for me for president's day 2/19-26. Brought my total from $284 (Alamo) to $273. Then, I used the following corporate code form Mousesavers:

Use Corporate Code oi1054 to receive special discounted rates, free unlimited mileage nationwide, roadside assistance and no drop off fees in Florida when you rent from Dollar. Offer comes from Orlando Magicard. Click here to download a FREE Orlando Magicard instantly online. Expires 2/28/07.

The 2 codes brought an intermediate to $253.23.

We belong to BJ's too and their coupon specifically states it can't be using in conjunction with another coupon, special, promo etc.
I thought of trying that too. You could always bring it and ask. All they could do is say no so it's worth a try. You can't enter a promo code and coupon online together though. There's no slots for both.
