I am going to WDW in Sept. for free dining with a friend. Last night my DH and I decided we want to plan a January family trip.:woohoo: So, would it be worth it to upgrade to an AP while I am there in Sept? Does anyone know the typical January AP rates? We will stay at a value resort if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help!

How long are you staying for each trip? If you need at least 10 days admission to the four theme parks over the course of those two trips, you should strongly consider it.

Other things may ultimately impact it, such as whether you are going to visit water parks, whether you can use the room discounts (and expect them to be offered), etc.

I wouldn't base your decision on how good the discounts are. I would base it on whether or not you'll come out on top ticket wise. For example, if you do 2-7 day base tickets, then you would be paying less doing it that way, but if you add park hopping, then the AP would be a better deal.

I'm planning on upgrading my tickets to an AP during my next trip, because I am planning another trip for the following summer. My first stay is going to be 10 days +PH... I only have to go for 2 days+PH the second trip in order to break even. The second trip will probably be longer than two days though, so it's a good value for me.

Thanks. Here is some more information: We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children under 10. We will need 7 day park hoppers and will not be using the water parks. We will also be there over the MLK weekend. Will that make a difference in AP room availability?

You can upgrade to an annual pass once you get there?:surfweb:

It is my understanding that you can upgrade your MYW to an AP and the amount paid for your MYW tickets will go toward the AP. If that's not correct, I'm sure someone will clarify.

I had the same problem wondering if it would be worth it or not. Found out the answer yesterday. With the AP rate that just came out we saved almost 500 on the room which is more than the cost of the AP and we are going back in January (hopefully with another AP rate) and again in July 09,so it will more than pay for itself. :rotfl: :thumbsup2
It all depends on how much you plan on going to The World! It worked for me!
Good luck on whatever you decide:flower3: !

How many days will you be in the parks in September? That's the first place to start, to see if it makes sense just from a purely ticket standpoint combining the two trips. Because if it saves you money just in your ticket, that's a great place to start...then any discounts are gravy. :goodvibes

We will be there 5 days in September, so I think the difference is $188. It looks like it would be a good deal, but I guess it is a tough decision to make before 2009 rates come out.
