We had a really excellent stateroom host, helped out with some issues. We added money to the envelope and went the extra step and wrote a real letter to Robert Iger (knowing he would never see it). We got a call from corporate and were informed that DCL would get the letter from his office and that means more in the employee file when it comes to raises and promotions than the comment cards.
A quick question please @lanejudy. I have purchased a 1 day pass for the Rainforest room for our upcoming cruise. This is new to me. Is there an opportunity or is it appropriate to tip there too? I always tip for individual spa treatments at home but am not sure how Rainforest Room works. Thanks!
I haven't used the Rainforest Room, so I'm not positive. But I was under the impression all spa services have an automatic 18% gratuity charged. Now, since you purchased the one-day pass in advance, possibly it's all included in that cost. To my knowledge, the Rainforest Room is basically an "on your own" type of thing so there is no staff person to tip directly. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

The Rainforest Room is a DIY thing, so there's really no one to tip extra. The only time I would consider tipping there would be if someone from the spa were to enforce the 30-minute rule for the heated tile loungers - I mean, they don't, but if they posted someone to monitor and enforce that on busy days? I'd definitely tip that person. But since they don't, there really isn't anyone to tip.

You already payed the 18% gratuity when purchasing the one day pass. It is 16$ plus the gratuity, so 18.88. That was the amount that was charged for my day pass in November. I think the receipt you get in your room for it has it detailed as well. So, no additional tipping required. I already find the 2.88$ a bit over the top for the rainforest room. Unless they go to the housekeeping CM who constantly is mopping the floor and bringing new towels.

I have never done the "pre-paid gratuity". Is it simply adding up $12 per person per day and depositing that amount on your shipboard account? Or is that money specifically set aside, separate from your folio, to be used solely for covering your servers' and stateroom attendant's tips?
When you "pre-pay" I believe it shows up as a charge then a credit to your onboard account. I have seen it added to my account and then credited back to me.
