Tiered FP+ for DHS

I really don't think there are people conspiring here to get others to be anti Disney so it is less crowded for them

:thumbsup2

This concept is as ridiculous as the idea that all the pro-Disney, pro-FP+ folks are trying to drive up attendance numbers, profit margins, and share prices. ;)

The real question there, is "if everyone going to EC in a day wants 1 FP to Soarin and 1 FP to TT, do those rides have the capacity to handle every person going thru the FP line once?"

I'm sure Disney knows the answer, and I'd like to think it's "yes". When FP- goes away, there will be more FP capacity for FP+. Right now they're having to balance two systems thru a transitional period.

I think some simple math says the answer is no. There are an average of 25,000 visits per day at Epcot. Only 87 people can ride Soarin' at a time, and the movie lasts 4:51, given time to get everyone loaded, I figure they can push through no more than 7,800 people in a 12 hour day. The good news is that not everyone wants to ride Soarin', but even so, I think that even on an average day, Soarin' is maxed out...

I assume you're figuring two concourses (doubling that 87) in there somewhere....

The question that I have yet seen to be answered is..... For all of those that think those with concerns about this are blowing it out of proportion and everything will be fine and they are just wrong about all of this.... Why do you care? Some seem to be pretty angry that others are concerned about this. I don't see anyone telling you it is wrong that the new system will work for you so why tell them they are wrong because it won't work for them?

So what is your personal investment in all of this that is making you all so passionate to defend Disney? Are all of you like this with everything you are passionate about? If someone has a different point of view than yours they are just wrong?

This isn't directly in response to what you wrote but more the back and forth nastiness that has gone on.

Personally I think FP+ will work perfectly fine for me, especially now that I am a solo traveler. I don't have any children and I don't have a huge aversion to waiting in lines the stuff I don't FP+. Actually I'm looking forward to checking out some of the interactive queues and reading my Kindle while in line.

However, I can also understand that this changes drastically some families touring styles and vacation preferences. It's ok not to like it and to chose not to go if you don't think you would enjoy yourself.

What I don't like aside from the nastiness already pointed out, is that some posters who don't like FP+ make those of us that do look stupid for liking certain aspects. Several posts, not necessarily on this particular thread, imply that parades, shows, fireworks, and low tier rides are a waste of your FP+ and that you are stupid or uninformed if you pick them. I happily admit to having FP+ for two shows in AK and some low tier/priority rides in other parks. If I'm not knocking you for not liking FP+, don't knock me for the things I enjoy. I don't need a FP for the safari ride if I don't actually want to ride it. Not all families/people enjoy the same types of rides or experiences and that doesn't mean Disney pulled one over on us.

It's like losing a really good friend. Some of us love Disney and they way things were and don't like/don't understand why things have to change. (Not asking for anyone to give me reasons why they think it is changing...just saying) It is BECAUSE we love Disney that we continue to hash and rehash our feelings. Our feelings are our feelings and while you every right in the world not to feel the same, you shouldn't have the right to try and make someone feel bad, stupid or ridiculous about their feelings. Like the post about losing the Main Street Bakery. Now I've looked at the thread to see what others are saying but it doesn't impact our family because we rarely visited the Bakery. So I don't add to that discussion because to say "for heaven sakes...it is just a cinnamon roll!" adds nothing to the discussion. I think they have the right to be disappointed. Something they love was lose. You can express how you do not think something is a big deal for your family and the reasons why and there are some that support FP+ that do this and can still see the other side for those that don't support it. Just as I understand how this system can be great for some at certain times of the year.

But really...I don't understand those crazy Main Street Bakery people. :rotfl2:
BTW....that was a joke!! :goodvibes

Yes!
Totally.
When the thread doesn't apply to me I just read it and not respond.

Back in January/February there was a huge thread estimating WDW ride capacities http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3054568

TT had an estimated capacity of 1,200 an hour or 14,400 rides a 12 hour day.
Soarin' had an estimated capacity of 1,600 an hour or 19,200 rides a 12 hour day. For a total of 33,600 rides a day.

Average daily attendance is 27,000 a day. Disney would need to devote about 80% of capacity to FP to let everyone have a FP to one or the other on an average day. On New Years Eve, I doubt they could even give FP to one of the 2 with 100% FP even with the extended hours (16 hour day 44,800 total rides).

To Original post about DHS.

TSMM about 1,600 an hour 19,200 rides in 12 hour day (9am to 9pm )
RnR about 2,000 an hour 24,000 rides in a 12 hour day.

Average attendance is 26,000. Numbers look better but everyone can't ride both. 60% devoted to FP could give everyone a ride on either one.

Exactly, this is not a one size fits all system, rather a one size fits most. Disney is not stupid and know which side its bread is buttered on even thought we don't. To the non riders the shows make perfect sense, they can have longer waits than headliners.(start getting in line 2 hrs or more b4 they start) Every strategy is valid

I've defended Starbucks because I'm a fan and I also don't believe that Starbucks is at fault. If Disney wanted to sell those cinnamon rolls they would. They could sell them anywhere really but they have decided not to.

I guess that the point is that Disney is responsible for that and FP+ too and that's true no matter how a person feels about any of this.

We were able to get my sisters UT tickets linked before the tiering at DHS started and then shared our FP+ plans with her. It worked to get around the tiering at Epcot so I assume it would have worked for DHS too though. If anyone in your party has already set up DHS FP+ then look into sharing rather than setting up new FP.

I made my FP+ reservations prior to tiering, and I have TSMM, RnRC and F!

The problem is that due to the lack of reserved space, I want to change the F! to something else (Tier 1 OR Tier 2). I tried to change the time or experience and I am not receiving other choices. Has anyone found a way to change F! experiences without having to re-start and re-select (which will mean going to the tiered choices)?

So there is nothing showing up under Change the Experience, when you try to change F! FP?

The problem is, as you've already figured out, is that you can't change both the experience and the time at the same time. Very annoying.

If you can't do it that way, then the only choice you have is to go in under Select and start over. But then the tiering might come into play for you. You might be better off just leaving it alone.

Good luck.

If there is no other choices available a the same time as F! and you understandably don't want to select all the FP+ again (and get stuck with tiering), you could try to go to a FP+ kiosk in the park and have a CM change just F!. They have the ability to override things and could choice a different attraction, but it would be limited to what is available that day.

Doesn't really bother us anyway, since we're not really into Rock 'n' RollerCoaster much. Not the biggest fans of Fantasmic! either. We do however like TOT and Star Tours, so that's fine.
