Hi,

I'm going to book the FD today. In the past we'd book FD with a 1 day ticket and upgrade it when we got there to an annual pass. I thought I read previously that if I purchased a multi-day ticket now, used a couple days when we arrived (in Sept.) and then upgraded to an AP, pricewise it would work to my advantage.
If that's true, how many days should I get my tickets for?

Doesnt really matter how many days you buy but you should use it once before you upgrade but it really only matters if disney raises the ticket prices which they did last year August 3rd so if they do it again and you use your tickets before upgrading youll get a few bucks more value then if you didnt use them first and *breath*

Why do you have to use it first? We're going in September but wondering if it would benefit us to upgrade since we always go back within the year.

I don't see how getting a multi-day pass then upgrading again to a AP will work out better. Technically the first day you use your ticket is when the AP should start. So if you used your 1 day on say for example 9/1, then upgraded to a 3-day pass, then upgraded again to a AP the start date would still be 9/1 since that was the first day you used the ticket.

AND I'm also pretty sure you have to do all of your 'upgrading' within 2 weeks of the tickets first use - if that matters any in your senerio.

Using your ticket first is only good is you have old ticket left floating around. For example: let's say you did FD 2 years ago. But you already have an AP. So you saved that one day ticket. Now you want to upgrade that one day ticket to an AP. You use it first to get the current gate price. As in lets say when you bought the ticket the one day price (just for examples sake) was $65, but NOW the one day price is $75. Just saved yourself 10 bucks buy using then upgrading. Whereas if you had just gone to a ticket window and ask to upgrade the old ticket they would've only credited you for $65 because that's how much you paid for it. Make sense?

You captured my answer in your 2nd quote response. We plan on upgrading our multi day ticket to an AP while we're there and then we'll go back next year before they expire. From what I gathered from the OP's, since I bought the multi day ticket before the rates go up (prob in Aug), use it after the rates go up, I'll get the gate price when I upgrade.

Does it have to be upgraded to an annual pass or can we upgrade it to 7 or 10 MYW tickets on our next rip?

You can upgrade your ticket to whatever you want as long it is within 14 days of the first use. If you upgrade to a 7 or 10 day MYW ticket, you will have to add the no expiration option if you want to use it next year or even after 14 days of first use.

OK - now I get what you're saying. I wasn't exactly sure what you were asking the first time around. ;)

Yes use it FIRST - then upgrade. Have a fun trip!!! :thumbsup2

Will they still upgrade if all you had was a one day ticket- you used it- and then decided to upgrade?
