Ticket Prices Going Up 2/12/17 ~ New Pricing Page 8>>>

First, I don't like any price increase either,
but using your numbers, a $33 increase on a 6-day ticket is $5.50 per day.

Again, I don't like increases, but $5.50 a day is less than a couple of bottles of water per day to drink at WDW.

An almost 10% increase, INCLUDING the $20 online savings (so the increase is even more) is an INSANE increase when you consider how many years of compounding increases we've had in Disney while core inflation and wage growth have averaged 1-2%...it's not like Disney is giving the guests new things they didn't expect this year in this increase (unless you count ONE swapped nighttime show)...

I think this may be the one that kills the Golden Goose. Disney is obviously hoping for another year of using the US parks to keep afloat so many corporate underperformers (just as they now do the movies)...they are hoping everyone delayed 2016 trips to wait for Avatar in 2017 (and that explains their attendance decrease)...what they may not realize is people aren't delaying, they have stopped coming now that prices are stratospheric...a 15% increase (plus pre-buy bennies taken away) is an absolute joke to their loyal consumer families...

You know, Apple had to start discounting phones when their later products got very few improvements and their prices became a joke...just sayin...

I need tickets for our upcoming April trip. I need 1 AP because I made the resort rez with the AP discount. Now with the price increase, I need to act now to get tickets from UT before they run out of the "old" priced tickets.....assuming they haven't already. So the question is....If I buy a 7 day PH can I upgrade it to an annual pass at guest services at Disney Springs when we arrive or do I need to go to one of the 4 theme parks?

Any kind of AP transaction cannot be done at the resorts.
But, it CAN be done at Disney Springs.

Any Guest Relations location can do anything that any other Guest Relations location can, so yes.

Talk to me about the $20 savings if you purchase online from disneyworld.com.

If you actually make a purchase, will it be $20 less than what you see on the first page?

For example, it shows a 4 day hopper at $425. If you scroll down you see that it's $425 plus $27.63 tax = $452.63

If I were to make the purchase, would it cost me $452.63?
Or would it cost me $20 less than that?

Or does this mean that it would cost me $452.63
but if I bought the same ticket at the gate it would cost me $20 more than that?

Either way, I would imagine the $20 difference is on the pre-tax amount, but that's just a guess on my part.

(Also on an unrelated note, Undercover Tourist raised their prices a bit since I looked on Thursday. Their cost for a 3-day Hopper plus extra day, which is their version of a 4-day Hopper, was $388.74 on Thursday. Now it's $390.74. Obviously not a big increase, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it. Their 3-day Hopper went up by $1. Their 4-day hopper plus extra day went up by $1. I didn't keep track of anything more than that.)

I'm sorry I...

Don't be. I am sorry for initially taking it the wrong way.

But I think it's the idea that regardless of the per day cost, a) for many it's about the cumulative cost but perhaps more so b) just the very idea that they just took a large 10-15% increase. It's knowing they're jacking rates to compensate for their mistakes, overages, bail outs etc...

These don't match what I'm seeing online though.

3 day hoppers for 2 adults and 1 child are $1029 on WDW's site.

WDW Magic lists the prices as $393/adult $374/child, which would make the price $1160. Even assuming the WDW Magic prices don't include the $20 discount it's still $70 more than what I'm seeing on WDW's site.

Has WDW's website perhaps not updated with new prices?

This is kind of a drag. We are not park hoppers but we are water parkers. Now we have to buy hoppers in order to get water parks. Being forced to buy something we won't utilize because we don't tour the parks that way.
If you can buy some today from undercover tourist or other ticket dealer then you should. That's what we did this morning and we were able to get the water park and more option without the hopper.

:wave2: Dropping in to remind everyone to continue to discuss this Ticket Pricing change in a non-argumentative manner. Each person/family is uniquely affected and all DISers have the ability to discuss the effects of this change without being challenged nor feel the need to argue their status.

Thanks!

Also, if I upgrade an unused PH from UT to an AP will the expiration of the AP be the date I upgrade or the actual day I purchase the PH?

I purchased my tickets last night to make sure I got the best deal under the current Canadian Resident Discount program and it said I had to use the tickets by December 2017. We have an August trip planned so it's OK but that's the first time I've seen that. The 25% discount was great though - I always have bought from UCT but nobody can beat that discount.

Has WDW'a website perhaps not updated with new prices?

They updated the prices at disneyworld.com. I've only been checking a few particular ticket types, but here's the comparison I have, including tax, to purchase 1 adult ticket, on disneyworld.com, comparing Thursday 02/09/17 and this morning 02/12/17:
2 day hopper: was $273.71, now $275.84
3 day hopper: was $367.43, now $371.69
4 day hopper: was $419.61, now $452.63
5 day hopper: was 435.59, now $473.93

There is supposed to be a $20 discount for purchasing online, but I have not figured out how it works. I have not done an actual purchase, so I don't know if you get a $20 discount on what is shown above, as part of the check-out process. Or if the new price shown above is $20 less than what you would pay at the gate today.

AFAIK, the prices shown on the website are pre-arrival rates. They won't take $20 off what you see. We just have $20 more on the prices at the gates.

And pre-arrival rates are only on 3-10 day tickets. 1 & 2 days is the same.

I have a DVC AP question. I bought one last week to book our room under the discount. I purchased the gold pass that, unfortunately has block out dates. It seems like the new one does not have block out dates. Is it possible to switch to the new ticket and just pay the difference? Thanks!

Sorry didn't go through the whole thread, but were you having trouble with the Canadian resident discount? I bought yesterday before the discount and the prices seemed to jump for our friends after midnight. I think it was a glitch where the discount wasn't applied to the new pricing structure. It was fixed on mobile last time I checked and the prices appeared the same.

The Gold AP still has block out dates. Its the next level up that does not.
