Ticket Price Increased 8/3/2008

Thanks for the heads up. I was planning on getting our tickets before Feb '09 and this thread was just the push I needed. I ordered them today through Undercover Tourist. Any amount I can save makes DH smile.

Oh geez, it sounds so confusing to upgrade and not get your dining credits messed up. Should I do this instead...call and upgrade our one day park hoppers to four day park hoppers? Then on our last day once all our dining credits have been used up, upgrade to AP's at any park guest relations counter at any park. I am assuming that I would just pay the difference between a four day PH and a AP.

You can do that, if you like.
It will not cost you anything extra to do that, as you will get full value for the original tickets when you do the upgrade.

And, since you have USED the tickets at the parks, you will get the CURRENT (at that time) GATE PRICE for your original tickets for the upgrade.

Understand that if you buy and use any "Water Parks and More" options before you upgrade, you can only upgrade to a PREMIUM AP.

And, since you have USED the tickets at the parks, you will get the CURRENT (at that time) GATE PRICE for your original tickets for the upgrade.

I have already purchased 10 day tickets with the park hopping and water parks options for our 2009 trip

If I like the rumored changes (more recreation options) and want to upgrade our Under Cover Tourist tickets, we need to use them once before upgrading?

If we don't use them first, will we get charged the difference between the price I paid at UCT and the new gate price and the upgrade cost to whatever the new rumored recreation option is?

Does using the tickets at a water park lock in the ticket at the current gate price?

Thanks for your help. I like tickets that give us all the possible options for our vacation days, no saying "we can't do that today". I might be regreting the pre-purchase of our tickets

Worse. You pay the difference between what UCT paid Disney (which is less than what you paid UCT) and the new gate price, and then the upgrade cost.

Does using the tickets at a water park lock in the ticket at the current gate price?

Yes, but using the tickets at a water park ALSO locks you in to buying a Premium AP (if the WP&M option is unused you can still upgrade to a regular pass).

Wow...this is giving me a headache..;)

Robo..or anyone..I have a question could you please let me know what to do??:thumbsup2

Right here goes...me dh and 2 kids 15 and 8 all have one day base passes each..they are on our room keys from 2006 (free dining needed one day pass each)

Now we are DVC members so I wanted to upgrade these passes to standard AP's and get DVC discount..I was planning on doing this at DTD on our arrival evening.

Now I understood I would get 2006 prices for my one day passes as this is when I bought them...but...Can I actually just use these one day passes at Dis studios on our first morning and then upgrade to Ap's at Dis studios guest sevices on the way out...Does this mean I will get 2008 prices for my one day passes...??

Also ..Does anyone know how much a one day pass was in 2006 and how much it will likely be after an August increase..(or how much now if no inrease)?

iam trying to figure out if the saving is worth it doing this way or if I should stick with upgrading to Ap's on arrival evening at DTD??

Iam a bit nervous there will be a problem at admission to dis studios with my 2 yr old passes that are on room keys and horrors we will be late getting to TSM at rope drop...:rotfl:

thanks for any help.....:thumbsup2

Tinker:
2006 1-day admission was $67. It is currently $71. The last three price increases were $5, $7, and $4, so the price after August 3rd could be anywhere from $71 to $81.

Once you use the 1-day ticket you can upgrade it to an AP any time within 14 days and you will get the current 2008 gate price for it. You don't need to upgrade before you leave the Studios.

Thanks Ahecht...:thumbsup2 ...Now I just have to worry about if my old key cards will work to let us in...:)

Well, at least at undercover tourist. Their homepage says ticket prices will increase on August 3. FWIW, Disney increased their ticket prices last year on August 3, also. Maybe UT is anticipating a price increase on Aug 1-3 this year.

Hmmm, what to do. We are going to WDW August 14. DH has a Fla. resident park hopper with 3 days left, I have 2 days left on a no-PH Fla. resident ticket, and DD needs a ticket. I was planning to upgrade my ticket to PH, so I suppose the cost of upgrading will increase as well?

I was planning to buy DD's ticket when we get there, but guess I should go ahead and do that before 8/1.

Thanks for the head's up! :thanks:

Ticket prices usually go up, with the new package prices for 2009. I know I sat and waited for the package prices about this time in 2006, and prices went up 3% for Dining Plan, MYW room/ticket package. Prices went up this time last year for 2008. The dining plan went down a dollar since the changed it, but the MYW packages increased.

Anyone have an idea of how much they usually go up?:confused3 We have a room reserved for October, but with the way the economy is going, we are trying to decide if we really can afford a trip.:guilty:

Try this link for ticket price increases.

Also, keep in mind just because UT is raising their prices, does not mean WDW is raising theirs. UT has increasing operating costs just like any other business and that *might* be the reason they are raising their prices. They do not get any more warning than the rest of us. Of course, Disney could be raising their prices. Who knows?

Says it on the main UCT home page at the top left (in between the picture of the family on a ride and the Mickey logo!) :

Orlando Attraction Tickets

Real Tickets (not vouchers),
Fantastic Prices, Free Shipping,
and First-Class Customer Service.

Yearly Price Increase!
Our prices are definitely going up August 3rd!

Someone mentioned somewhere else that there were "rumours" WDW were going to announce their increase on Friday 1st to be implemented Sunday 3rd August which would tie in with UCT but no guarantees I suppose!

We are going to wait until Friday evening to see if any announcement then buy - I think!!

Got mine! We can decide if we want to upgrade to AP after we use one day up in September. :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure that if you decide to upgrade to AP anytime after the Disney increase, you'll have to pay the full difference to the new price structure, not the difference to the current price.

We have the same issue - only even more complicated! We have AP's that expire in Oct. We're not going till Nov this year. We're a fam of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids). Renewing our AP's would be $1635. Buying new AP's would be $1795, but would gain us an extra 5 or 6 weeks of potential dates to use the tickets again next year. Buying 10 day hoppers would be a total of 1069 + 110 parking, or $1179. Ugghh. Not sure what to do...

We have been anticipating this, so we've been buying our AP voucher's slowly...looks like I have to buy the last 2 now before the week ends. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
