Ticket Price Increased 8/3/2008

The drum beat is getting louder on my end as well.. I posted yesterday that I fully expect an announcement on Friday, August 1st for the ticket restructuring/price increase.

Of course, could be wrong.. but I don't think so this time around.

While on face value, it seems unlikely that the entitlements for annual passes could change.. in reality -- they could. Nobody knows exactly what the choices will be until they are out there... and of course, it could always end up exactly like last year, just more $$$.

Stay tuned.

I do not think you're wrong, FYI.

I'm putting in our "buy" for AP's at the end of this week, because I have been hearing rumblings very similar to what you're saying, above. Even the date was the same...

...

Well this inspired me to order my AP for my March 2009 trip. But how would this work? I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a voucher in the mail that I will turn in at the gate when I want to activate it. So are the AP rules/benefits based on when you bought the AP or when it's activated?

Also what type of rules changes could there be? It's an Annual Pass so you'd think that you would always had admission with it.

Does anyone know if any of the changes may have to do with Pleasure Island closing? I was looking at the Premium Annual pass, and that seems to be a chunk of it, but with no more pleasure island, the could the difference between the basic and the premium be less?

I'll be buying our tickets sometime this week ~ right after I get my refund from Midwest.

When it's activated, not when it's purchased.

So your "time" won't start until you activate in in March of '09.

RENEWALS of AP's are different...they start the minute your old AP expires, now.

REgular AP's are less likely to have any differences in structure or rule changes...other than possible blackout dates I suppose. That's never been done before, that I recall, to anything other than the Florida Resident passes, though.

Premium AP's might get something "new" to offset the closing of PI...or might not. I'm betting on the "might not" coupled with the standard price increase. :)

I am going to WDW in Sept and Oct.I was thinking about adding more days to my base tickets and a no exp option to my Sept package. If I decide to that - I will add them when I get to the resort. Will my additional days be charged at the 2008 price or the 2009 price?

You will be charged the 2009 price since you are changing your package.

Don't upgrade at Check In, also get your ticket media on a separate ticket from your key to the world card, because you don't want to mess with your dining credits.

Use your tickets first before upgrading them, then you will get credit at the current ticket price, not the price you paid.

Does my November trip have to be paid in full for my ticket price to be locked in? Or does it matter that I still owe on it some when the tickets change? I've heard conflicting reports.

The issue is that I'm hoping for a code to come out, which would be mid-August (based on past years). I don't want to make the final payment until I know for sure how much (sorry, I don't want to deal with a refund).

Your price is locked in right now it will not change as long as you don't change the package.

As for changes to the annual pass - I would say they are unlikely beyond a price increase..

But please note I said unlikely ... not "umpossible" .. to borrow a word from Ralph Wiggum. ;)

Fairestone - I'm not sure how a change in ticket price affects an unpaid package but if I remember correctly ...I think Becca got it right.

But to be absolutely certain, I'd call the Disney Reservations Center and ask to confirm the policy with a supervisor.

And then ask them to email or fax you the policy in written form. Because otherwise the next person you call will say the exact opposite of the first person. :)

I always book my trips a long way out and my package price has never changed from the original confirmation.

I can't comment on what would happen if you changed the package, say to add on dining, I don't know if the increase in ticket price is included with the new price.

This is soooooo true. It is possible to get a different answer with each phone call.

Any Tickets, Packages,Passes Purchased BEFORE the date the Price Increase goes in to effect .. Will most likley not be Affected

Technically, if you read the fine print, Disney reserves the right to change the cost or terms of your package at any time. They don't usually do so, but they can.

My guess is that they are going to build in an incentive for folks to use the golf courses, Disneyquest, and other extra activities like mini-golf and fishing.

Mickeyluv'r -- I think you're right on the money with this one. With the added emphasis on 'recreation', I think you'll see an option that includes things like the waterparks and DisneyQuest but also water-mice rental, mini-golf, regular golf, etc.

A true 'recreation' ticket add-on.

That's a little of what I've been hearing on the grapevine. TOTALLY rumor at this point.. but interesting to keep in mind.

Disney does reserve the right to charge extra, but so far I have never experienced them doing so.

I cruise at least once a year (not on Disney....next year whooo hooo!) and in the past the cruiseline tacked on a fuel surcharge to those who had not paid in full, thereby changing the price of already booked sailings. This was something that was unheard of at the time. The surcharge was reflected in all future bookings, but those who had already paid in full didn't have to pay the charge. So if the cruiselines can change the price, Disney can too.

We have non-expiring passes that have not all been used.

Will we have to pay an increase when we enter the parks
if the price goes up ?

:cool1:

No. You will not have to pay extra.

If you plan to upgrade the tickets in anyway, make sure you have used the tickets first.

Nope. At least.. not under the current policies, rules & guidelines. :)

Do we usually have a day or two notice before price increase? I have a room only booked and was going to purchase tickets from Undercover or Mania, but wanted to see if a package code came out that would be better to go that route.

Maybe I should just buy them and hope for a room only that's better than my AAA
