Ticket Price Increased 8/3/2008

Does anyone know how much the prices on Magic Your Way base tickets are going up. Does it pay to purchase my tickets now and put on the No Expiration option or jjust buy them after August 3rd.

I'm not sure of the statitics, but they have gone up every year lately. But if you have several to buy, you may save a little dough by buying them now. You do NOT need to add the no expiration on them though. They won't expire till after you use them, then you have 14 days to use them, I beleive. But you can buy the mnow and hold them for ten years if you want and they won't expire.

We would love to pre-buy our tickets before the increase in early August but our dilema is we are going in October and right now we have a room- only reservation with plans on buying 4-10 day hoppers with no expiration BUT if a code comes out in mid-August for a package only deal ,then we would go for that. We saved $550 at the GF on the Visa package code last year but the code came out mid August after the increase. Don't know what to do. :confused3

In your case, it might pay to go ahead and buy the tickets now, and IF a package deal comes out, buy just a one day ticket to qualify for the package, and use them later to upgrade to a longer ticket on another trip. You would save so much on the room part of the package, that having to buy the one day tickets wouldn't be so bad. And if no package comes out, you won't have lost anything on your 10 day tickets.

I finally booked my room at CBR for Nov tonight. When deciding what to do about tickets he reminded me that ticket prices would be or would probably be going up in Aug as the usually do, can't remember his exact words. I did buy tickets from him. Now, after reading a couple posts here I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I wanted to book now to be sure I had a room at CBR for Nov(bought air back in late may) and wanted to use my AAA card to use the discount just in case, but I had to book just a room only, and then the tickets on the side. Now, wondering what happens when the package comes out, (assuming they do)? If a package code comes out can I switch to a package with tickets instead? Do they just cancel this ticket order so I can buy it with my package? I don't want DDP for my package, just tickets. I asked at the time if I'd be able to apply the code if it came out and he said yes. But afterwards, I got to wondering what happens if I already bought tickets? Do they just convert my tickets into the package with my room? Anyone know how they do this? I don;t want to have to buy more days for the park than I need.

Btw, he said they don't put tickets such as those from UT on the kttw cards, but I have read on here from a number of other posters that they have actually been able to do this, so not sure what the real deal regarding that is for sure. That, along with the price increases was partly why I decided to just get the tickets. Does anyone know anything about this? Or how much UT is for 9 or 10 day tickets, (I've forgotton)?

I'm pretty sure that if you decide to upgrade to AP anytime after the Disney increase, you'll have to pay the full difference to the new price structure, not the difference to the current price.

Not true
(at least under the current rules of ticketing at WDW, rules that have been in effect for quite some time.)

You would simply USE the ticket you have now to go into a theme park at least once BEFORE you upgrade it.

The "use a day before you upgrade" is important if
there is a difference between what you originally paid
for your current ticket (if you paid LESS) and what
that same ticket costs at the gate the day you
upgrade.

This would be in the case of a ticket that you bought
from Disney before the price increase or a ticket that
you bought from a discounter.

BEFORE you use a new ticket, and try to upgrade, that ticket is considered to be a "trade-in."
So Disney will check to see what you paid for the ticket and charge you the difference from THAT price to the gate price of the upgraded ticket.

AFTER you use any part of a new ticket, and then do the upgrade, that ticket is considered to be a normal "upgrade."
So Disney will only charge you the difference price as if you had just purchased your current ticket at the gate and only charge the difference between that value and the upgraded ticket.

And it's so easy to use the ticket first, anyway.
Then, at some later point in your trip (say, "day
two,") when you take a couple of minutes' break, do
the upgrade.

I looked at the link posted above and noticed that typical price increases are about $4 per ticket. I say this because I don't have the cash in my account to pay for them this week so I was going to charge it but if the increase will only cost my family $16, I will just wait a month or two until I have the cash. Am I missing something or is this not really that big of a deal when you are paying for a $2000 + vacation?

I think it depends what type of ticket you get. I know the Premium AP I purchased in June 2007 cost $559. That same ticket cost me $579 in August 2007. $20 per person difference is a huge incentive for me to buy my tickets now. It may not be of consequence to everyone and the savings may in fact be minimal for your situation. There is no guarantee what the percentage increase will be...although if someone knows what it is for a fact, I'd love to hear it! I don't like dealing with the hypothetical savings/loss.

There is a rumor that Disney is going to increase ticket prices Aug. 3, Sunday.
I'm posting it here because it comes from a very reliable source and may help those who are planning and need to buy tickets now!

As a new DVC member, don't forget your DVC discount of $100 off AP and $125 off PAP!!! That savings really adds up! :goodvibes You might be able to get a refund on the passes you already bought, and re-buy them with your discount. Something to consider!!!

Thanks.
There are lots of current threads about this.

HERE is one.

There is no "official" word that Disney is raising the prices, by the way.
Just an indication due to Undercover Tourist announcing that THEY are increasing THEIR prices on Aug. 3 (see below.)

Stay tuned to see what Disney will (or won't) do.

Thanks! ;) I still have my June 2007 voucher sitting in front of me and I wondered if I could work that for the DVC pricing. I called MS on Saturday and ordered 1 more PAP and now to call and get the last one before the weeks end...I just hate spending all that money! :scared1:

Hopefully, it won't be too much of an increase. Because of the economy, I think we will wait. For the first time in many, many years I don't think we will be able to visit for awhile.:sad1:

I have a question that may seem really stupid, but here it goes. If I have booked a package with everything and the ticket prices go up, does that change the cost of my reservation, or do I pay the ticket prices that were in existance at the time I paid the deposit? We are going in October and really do not need to add any more costs to this vacation with us having to rebook airfare suddenly out of a different city. Do I need to pay the remaining balance to lock in the ticket costs or am I okay with just the deposit paid? Thanks for any help.

I've merged these threads all discussing the potential for a price increase to be announced this Friday.

Your package price remains locked in and valid... UNLESS you call and make any changes.

I booked a package, but only have the 1-day ticket included.
We planned on upgrading to a 10 day pass when we got there. I take it we will have to pay the increased price for the tickets?

And from what I can gather, I should use the 1 day ticket first and then upgrade to a the 10 day? Let me know if that is correct.

I just got an email from Mousesavers with a link to undercovertourist for a "discounted savings"... is this the same thing as the one that comes out on the 15th - or will there be a bigger savings then?

That is wrong (the bolded). :) I've had no problems in the past adding tickets from UCT to my KTTW card.

I just wanted to clarify that for others that may be reading. :goodvibes
