This Is Us- Season two

You can watch it the next day on Hulu ($7.99/month or $4.99/month for students with Premium spotify accounts - still commercials, but maybe not as many)! And you can also upgrade to Hulu Premium with no commercials ($11.99/month). If you don't already have cable, it might be a better value on Hulu. I think they do a free trial period, too.

Thanks for the tip! I think buying it on amazon might be cheaper in the long run though (depending on how many months a season spans, which I can't remember) and then at least I will own it and can rewatch it anytime like the first season I own. I'm still up in the air about it though. Going to see how many commercials they put into this week's episode.

We will try to watch it again before tomorrow night. Another board that I read had a few theories - the bag with the wedding ring looked like the pamphlet said addiction, as if she was dropping him off at rehab, maybe for being drunk and starting the accidental fire? Someone said they thought Kevin's cast had fire written on it - is that how he broke his leg? And did anyone notice Rebecca's wedding ring fell off when she screamed and threw her hands up.

I just need to know how and why did Rebecca and Miguel get together??

OK, I took a screen shot of the notebook in the bag, and zoomed way in.

It looks like the first word, although partially covered by the watch, shows "struction"...which could be "construction"

The second line/word looks to be "Design"

I can't tell anything on the 3rd line, due to the crease in the bag.

We can also see a wedding band, a watch, and a set of keys.

So, could he have been doing work on the house, and caused the fire? Other thoughts/ideas??

I just watched the episode again and like you I couldn’t make out what the notebook said.

I watched the scene with Kevin’s cast I didn’t see anything weird written on it besides get well soon and ‘typical’ cast stuff lol

Apparently the ending was only filmed a week and a half before the episode aired..maybe to keep spoilers offline. (I read it on IMDb so it could totally be false too).

Did anyone else want Rebecca to just say something nice to Kate (young Kate, now Kate, either one would work) without a qualifier? Just say something nice and leave it at that? I really hope I'm not doing that to my daughter. I don't think I am, but I will be sure to pay very close attention from now on. I loved Toby's chat with Rebecca. His loyalty impressed me - - and Rebecca, it seems.

I love Sophie with Kevin. She's so good for him. I hope he's good for her, too, and I really hope they stay together. Kevin handled the lack of family in the seats better than I expected.

Oh, and the Jack and Kate scenes showed even more of a connection between the two. I really felt for both of those characters. I really don't know if I want to see the scene where Kate finds out Jack is gone.

P.S. I apologize for my overuse of the word "really". I just reread what I wrote. It REALLY is obnoxious! :guilty:

I don’t know..I’m underwhelmed with this episode too. I don’t know what it is. Maybe the ‘newness’ is going away and now it’s just like any other show. We’re not getting as many reveals as last season too, which I get. Maybe I just had such high hopes that I’d be punched in the gut, just like last season lol

Also, I don’t know why, but it really creeped me out the way that Kate put Jacks face in her hands..it just seems way too intimate for me. I get that some families are close like that but it’s still too much for me.

Dammit show, I’m not giving up on you.

I felt the exact same way, asking myself if I do that to my girls. I mean, I don’t think I do but I don’t think Rebecca thought she did either. At the same time I thought Kate was purposely cruel in that last scene. Annnd... *drum roll*... Toby finally won me over with “Team Kate, foreva.” THAT is the kind of man he needs to be.

That’s what Jack does with the kids though. Can you imagine barely being able to look your kid in the eye? She was doing what he does to show him that it’s okay. In that context it didn’t feel weird to me.

True, and I know why they are doing it. It just seemed off to me. I’ll get over it lol

I have always like Toby, but last night I liked him even more. He has some funny one-liners.

I love the connection between Kate and Jack. When Rebecca said something to young Kate about how she sang great, but she should hold the last note longer, then she looked at Jack and he touched his heart and mouthed to her, "I loved it" or something like that. I just melted.

I agree. Really no need to be so nasty to her mom.
I think some people who have a good relationship with their mother don’t understand Kate. I have a good relationship with my mother, but I can certainly understand where her resentment and anger come from, considering how Rebecca is portrayed on the show.

Man, I love Toby and Beth.

And I cried through the whole scene with Kate singing...beautiful voice!

I agree with you, completely. We can see that, from the time Kate was little, her Mom very rarely (if ever) complimented her without a "but....". I would imagine that, after 37 years of it, it all just came boiling out. Who knows? It could very well be a turning point for their relationship, now that Rebecca is aware of it. Like others of you, though, it made me stop to think if I am doing the same to my daughter. I don't think I am, but I'm going to be more aware of it to make sure I'm not.

One thing I caught on to was that they focused in on Jack's keys...the same keys that were in the plastic bag last week.

While this episode didn't quite hit me in the gut like some of the others have, I also realize that not every episode can be a game changer. There have to be some episodes that are simply "progression" (maybe not the right word, but all I can come up with right now), and that's what I feel this episode was.

Oh, and I absolutely loved the talk between Kevin and Beth. As well as between Toby and Rebecca.
