Nik's mom, don't forget about the balcony. If a full sized one is important to you, make sure it's also on your request. A number of the BC rooms have standing room only or no balconies at all. I found a site that has a nice map of the rooms at the BC. It's a little dated, but will give you a good idea of the overall layout. It's a little further walk from everything, but I'd recommend going with a room near the quiet pool/villas. Otherwise, your chances of overlooking the parking lot and roof are going to be pretty high.

It doesn't hurt to mention your anniversary, but please note that not everyone has had theirs recognized by the staff. It's wonderful when that does happen, I just don't want you to be disappointed. The Disney cruise offers some nice celebration packages that come with decorations and a cake. Something you might want to look into when that gets closer. The charge was very reasonable. Some of the resorts are also offering things like a romantic turndown, with special chocolates or champagne. You can always check with the lobby concierge staff or speak with private dining when you arrive.

Thanks, Tammi. Don't worry, I'm a WDW vet and know that I should only expect what I pay for. But I do know that some standard views are better than others. I'll definitely request full balcony. As for something special, I'll probably order a basket from our own Feralpeg here on the Dis. Our anniversary is the same day that we go on our cruise, I I'm going to arrange something there. I'm considering a vow renewal package too. Decisions, decisions. My first decision is to pick a hotel. I really want to stay at BC, but have to convince dh that the bus service isn't that big of an issue.

Feralpegs baskets are beautiful. If you've been over on the cruise forum, you've probably seen the site for Shirley's cruise baskets. She does an amazing job also.

We found the transportation to be very good at the YC/BC. We were there in December though and my guess is they change it around seasonally. We didn't go to the AK, but we did use the bus for DTD and MK. We shared with the Swan and Dolphin for DTD, which made that ride a little bit longer, but it was only YC/BC guests on the MK bus. You get dropped off right at the main entrance, so you bypass the TTC completely. I actually found it easier going from an Epcot resort to the MK, then from an MK resort to Epcot.

When we honeymooned at WDW back in 1996, we couldn't afford BC because of our wedding expenses. But we took a walk around and said one day we'd stay there. I can hardly wait to stay there in August 06!

We got our refillable mugs at the new Beach Club Marketplace. You can also get them at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop & Hurricane Hanna's Grill.

Just tonight my father announced that he wants to try staying in a new resort. We normally stay at the Contemporary. He decided the decor there is just geting to be too much as he ages! ( He is well over 90! ) So we are looking into either the BC or the YC.

We would have a party of five with 3 adults and 2 kids. He likes to eat breakfast quietly in the room so there must be a table. My mother may be in a wheel chair so the size of the room is important. That has always been one thing nice about CR, is that the rooms are roomy!

So what are the advantages of the BC over the CR?

The trip is planned around the thrid week of December.

Well, the decor of both the BC and YC is beautiful and elegantly done. We stayed at the YC so I am partial to that resort. We stayed in a first floor room and found the patio to be especially wonderful to stroll out on and watch Illuminations nightly. Being able to visit the BoardWalk would be great for your parents, even your mom in a wheelchair as it's a short stroll (or roll). I believe the rooms a bit smaller than the CR though but I don't know that from experience. Good luck...

Does anyone have any info on the 1 Bedroom Suites at the BC? The WDW website lists them as having a king bed and a daybed in the parlor. Anyone ever stay in one? Any pics? I think these are different than the Jr. Suites.

How doable is the pool in December? The whole reason that I'm going to BC in December is the hope of getting to spend some time at their great pool. Should I wait to go to the BC later when it will be warmer?

It all depends on the weather. We've been at that time of the year when temps have been in the 80's and other years when it barely got out of the 40's. The pool is heated, so being in the water was fine. It's getting out while being wet that might be a problem. This past December, we wore shorts most of the days and my kids did swim in SAB a couple of times. They only did the slide once or twice, because even though the sun felt warm, the air temperatures were fairly cool and being wet on top of that, made you feel downright cold. They stay submerged most of the time while in the pool and it was a very quick run back to our room when they were finished swimming.

I have stayed at the Y & BC many times, but we have never used the pool on our last day, therefore, I have not ever needed to know this. I know there must be a facility where we can shower and change before our flight home. My question is: where? Thanks!

Yes there is, Corinne! It's part of the main building, right by the pool. Have fun!!

(Edited 7/4: I need to correct the "mis-information" I stated above. Evidently, there is NOT a showering/changing facility @ YC/BC. Sorry about that!)

Yes there is a shower and changing room in the Health Club that you can use. I used it in May on my last day after checking out of the Villas. You enter it right off the pool, I think it's right beside Beaches and Cream. There are towels, soap, and hairdryers available which makes it very convenient.

Has anyone gotten a room at Beach Club that sleeps 5 (2 Queens and a day bed) and has the roll in showers and toilet grab bars?

When I first reserved rooms only three of us were going and I got a handicapped room but a few weeks later we added two teenagers and we were told that none of the special rooms would sleep five. We dropped the roll in showers and grab bar showers and just took a standard room.

Next I was told that if they do not provide the kind of room we need that we can be split into two rooms one of them being handicapped and the other adjoining it. So I call today to request that set up and I was informed that there are handicapped rooms that sleep five.

I feel like I am being given the run around. Does anyone know for certain how the handicapped rooms at the Beach Club are set up?

We stayed in a jr suite (2557) that had 2 queens and a day bed. It did not have roll in shower or grab bars.

We are suppose to be getting a Standard room so I suspect it will be quite different from the suite you showed. This was a very last minute kind of trip for us. We were there in March 2005 and we had not planned to return for at least a year but here we are going again!

Does anyone have nice photos like these of the Standard rooms? Or the handicapped rooms?

We are staying at BC in March for the first time....actually, first deluxe stay.

balconies / patios....I know they arent on all the rooms, but are they on most? We will be in a standard room if that makes a difference. I would really like some outside access from my room (see last question)

views...honestly, not my priority, I am more concerned about location / convenience. I would like to be near any one of the pools, and being near a laundry room wouldnt be a bad thing.

mugs...how far of a walk will it be to get refills?

kids club...has anyone used it? did the kids like it? We normally do everything together, but Im thinking Sam may like a night out with other kids. Even if only for a couple hours.

smoking....no lectures please, but where are the smoking rooms? I would prefer to be in a smoking area so we dont have to bother other guests by smoking outside our room. I hate to smoke in hotel rooms since it makes them so stuffy, but I dont want to stand on my patio or balcony and bother other guests in the area.

Hi,
we stayed at BC last summer. The 3rd floor of BC is non-smoking & alot of the small balconies are on that floor. I had asked where the smoking rooms are & was told there aren't designated smoking rooms on the other floors but they do try to "group" them together.

Our room was on the corner of the quiet pool. We loved the location as the kids could go for a dip at night & it was close to Epcot. I also did some unplanned laundry one night & its located at the quiet pool. There is also an elevator on that end of the resort for a quick exit.

On the other hand it does take a few minutes to get to the lobby or marketplace to fill your mug.

We did not use the kids club but took a peek one night & it looked like all the children were having a great time.

Bethany, here's a great site that gives the lowdown on Beach Club room locations and whether they have balconies.
Beach Club room locations

Just figure out a couple of priorities and list them on your reservation in order of preference.
Ex. balcony, near pool.

As far as the kids clubs are concerned, we always use one at least once on the trip. Our kids love them. They're often open in the afternoon for you to explore/check out. I'd suggest making the reservation, then taking Sam down to see what he thinks (remembering the 24 hour cancellation policy, of course).
