Personally speaking, I would choose the first floor again. My boys loved being able to walk out onto the grassy area and play while we watched from the patio. Plus not having to use an elevator was great. Don't count on watching the fireworks from your room. You never know where you'll be assigned. Being on the first floor will make it easier to just walk out for a quickie to view the fireworks. Even though we could see the fireworks from our room, we still strolled over a bit toward the water walkway to get an even better view. Great being able to just leave the patio area and come back w/o going through the hallway. We could see our patio and knew it was safe.

Disneyolic- You have made a great point!!! I have never looked at it that way before, and have always requested upper floor with waterview. Maybe I will try first floor this next visit.

Bumping this up for someone

I saw this as an old post, but never saw an answer - why won't the links work at the beginning of this thread? And what happened to Joe Cool - he sounds like he was so knowledgable on YC/BC - haven't seem in on since summer I think.

Hello, all! My DD, DS, and I are planning a July trip to WDW. We are WDW vets, but haven't stayed at the BC for a few years. We are considering renting points at a BCV studio if available, vs. a room at the BC with an AP rate (I hope!).
Has anyone gotten a concierge room at the BC with an AP rate? Any idea about what rate we're looking at for July 12-17?
If concierge is too steep, we'll just go with a standard room or try renting points at the BCV.
Also, we used to request a standard room facing the "woods" on the Epcot side. Do those woods exist anymore now that the BCV are there, or is there another nice std. view to request?
Thanks! :D :D

What is the big slide like curvy, dark etc.? How tough is it to get back to the side after you hit the water. Have you seen young kids on this slide?

the slide is enclosed (so it is dark) and maybe about 100 feet or so long...it is a short walk back to where the slide starts, and then you have to walk up a few levels to get to it...

it's alot of fun, but not to bad...it depends on how old and adventurous your kids are...my 8 yr olds did it a few years ago and loved it...and they aren't the most adventurous...

On the very first page of this thread it mentions that if your child cannot do the slide w/o a life jacket you may request to use the slide at BW...is this still true? Has anyone ever asked to do this, I'm just curious with all the pool hopping talk on the board.

as far as i know, as long as you are staying at any disney resort you can use the pool at any other disney resort...

the only exception to this is storm along beach which is between the Y&B Club...that is the only resort that you have to be staying in the resort itself to use the pool...and they do have guards there to check your resort ID to make sure you are staying there...

so as far as i know, and unless they have changed their policy, you can use the Boardwalk pool....and if you want to travel a little, you can also use the pool at the POLY, which is also a very good pool and has a good slide...another great pool is old man river at PO riverside...

This is NOT true. If you are a DVC member you are able to "pool hop" to other DVC resorts with the exception of Stormalong Bay. Otherwise, each resort's pools are supposed to be exclusively for guests staying at that resort.
budget mom If your child is a bit young for the big slide there is a kiddie slide near the entrance of the big slide. My boys (ages 2½ & 4) enjoyed this a lot. They were able to wear swimmies on this slide. There were older kids than them going down this slide w/o swimmies.

Pool hopping is not allowed unless you are a DVC member. The concession for little ones is made for the slide at BW for those staying at YC/BC only and I believe you're suppose to ask first.::yes::

Thanks YCfan. Have you seen any younger kids using the big slide at SAB? I think my 5 & 1/2 yo will be able to do it, I just want a back up plan if she can't. It looks like there is lots to do w/o the slide. How do you get permission.....just ask at front desk of YC? Also what is the slide like?

There is a small slide on the other side of the "ship" for younger ones, but if your 5 1/2 year old can swim pretty good then they could probably use the big slide. It's like going down a long circular tube, dark inside. It's like a ship's mast laid sideways. Then it spills out into the pool. They won't let you stand in the pool at the end though. That's why it's important to really know that your child can swim well. I'm not sure about where to ask about BW/Luna Park but I'd start at the front desk.

Wow, this was always on page one of the Resort thread. BTW WHere is the keeper of BC knowledge - Joe Cool?

this is fun to read all of this info!

we are going back to the BC this october and staying concierge. (they gave us a free upgrade last year and knew what they were doing! now i'm hooked!)
ANYWAY ...
i've been reading about the room requests for the YC and am curious about the BC. we will have 2 babies and need 2 pack and plays so if some rooms are larger than others I would like to do everything i can to get one of those.

any advice?!
TIA!
