Just to make things clear...some rooms with 2 queen beds still do not have day beds. This was the case in our room, and it was a water view room. We had a chair with an ottoman instead of the day bed. I believe there is no guarantee of the day beds unless you have a party of 5, and then I have heard that sometimes they will give you a rollaway instead.

Hi Beka'smom :wave2:

You absolutely can request a balconey before you check in. I always like to have my request noted on my reservation and mention the request again at check in.

My son always gets a haircut at MK, BUT I heard there is one at the YC (or is it the BC). What can anyone tell me about it? Thanks.

It's called Periwig's (?). It's located between the two resorts on the boardwalk between them, ground level overlooking SAB. One the Yacht Club side past Beaches and Cream.

Im not sure if you can answer this but anyhow- Im considering getting a dvc rental for the beach club for a studio for a week. how far away are the DVC from the resort? is it a far walk to the pool and what type of view would you have over there? tia

There are many maps on some sites if you search this thread, but the simple answer is that the DVC is almost the same distance to everything as the BC.

I have August 12 booked at the Yacht Club with my DVC points. I only had enough points for a Garden View room so I took that. I also need to stay at the Yacht Club on August 13 so I had to book that night in a separate reservation. When I went on the AAA website they only had Water View rooms left so I had to take that. My problem is that I would prefer not to have to check out of the Garden room by 11:00 and then wait to check in to the Water view room at 4:00 on the same day. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stay in the same room; I will even take both as Garden Views. Any hope if I keep checking that there will be any cancellations? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Have your ressies linked and noted by CRO, then when you check in tell them you will even take a downgrade on the water. They will tell you today that they will do the best they can and then when you get there they will tell you the same. Since it is just two days you should have your answer at check in.

Does anyone have any updates on the scaffolding at the Yacht Club? I know they've been working on it for several weeks now. I'm hoping they're almost finished, because I arrive on Aug. 1!

I notice that Joe Cool, who originated this thread several years (!) ago and did an amazing amount of work in those first few posts, hasn't posted at all to disboards in over a year, and his graphics are no longer available on the server they're linked from.

Did any BC/YC fans save those graphics, by any chance? The floor plans, including individual room locations, were *really* useful.

Any other sites with really detailed maps of the BC & YC? (The Disney maps are nice enough, but Joe's went into way more detail.)

Thanks for any tips here. Staying at the BC for the first time in September, but I've stayed at the YC and BCV before.

we are wondering the same thing we noticed the graphics and photos were no longer there and Joe hasent posted in a long time any one know of any other good Yatch and beach club sites

We are just off the plane from a wonderful visit at WDW and the Yacht Club. All scaffolding was gone. I didn't notice any anywhere. The resort was beautiful and busy! We were upgraded from standard to waterview. This has happened to us 7 out of our last 9 visits! Enjoy your upcoming trip! Time flies faster in WDW than anywhere else. I'm convinced of that!:wave2:

Hey Cindala, glad to hear all's well at the YC. We were there last December; concierge was so worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Just back from 2 weeks at WDW. The first 7 nights were spent at the Yacht Club on the concierge level. It was perfection. We have stayed on this level before but it is much improved since our last stay. I have often read of others splitting there stays between resorts. We did it for the first time and will never do it again. First of all, we did not want to leave the Yacht Club and the packing and unpacking was not fun. If anyone has any questions , just ask.

Thank you for your post RAV~ I'm also considering a YC concierge stay in December. The one question I have concerns bus transportation to the MK and AKL:

I've read reports of the buses being very crowded - resulting in standing room only situations and often long waits as packed buses passed by waiting guests. Did you encounter this during your stay?

Any suggestions on how to alleviate any transportation problems to/from the YC resort?

Thanks for posting - I look forward to your reply! :earseek:

We really had no problems with bus transportation. In the past, the buses went to the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk. That did not seem to be the case this time. I think it is based on the crowds. For some less travelled paths like Downtown Disney and Blizzard Beach it did travel to all the hotels but not the busy parks. The only transportation problem we encountered was to and from Downtown Disney. We always seemed to wait for that one. The buses seemed to get crowded when picking up at the Beach Club. We stood at times but that was because we gave up our seats to elderly people or parents with young children.

Another suggestion- if the bus travel is bothering you, you can get off at the Swan , walk through the lobby and over the bridge to the Yacht Club. You can enter the Yacht Club by the quiet pool and walk through the air conditioned hall to the lobby.

Have a wonderful trip.

RAV, I'm looking into staying at YC 12/9-12/13 with the e-mail special that I received from Disney. Concierge is available at the resort for $335/night. This would be our first time staying in the Epcot resort area, but I know that my kids would love to try out SAB. You seemed to have really enjoyed the concierge service here. I was wondering if you could give a break down of the food offerings and how their service has improved since your last visit.

Thanks for the help,
Tammi

I agree with RAV! This year we split our stay between YC and the Poly. Never again. We'll go back to the YC for the whole stay. You just get more of a feel of pampering. The lounge is clean, nice, and the food is excellent. Our first night on our last trip they had mussels and clams during the evening. They were excellent!! If you get lagoon view then you're in for a treat. Sitting on the balcony looking out towards Crescent Lake is always one of my favorite parts of the vacation.

Hi Tammi -

Thanks for all of the great tips on the GF - looks like we both decided on a YC stay :o)

Thought we might run into each other in December - but we'll have just left (returning to Hawaii on Dec 8).

Drop us a line when you return - we need to compare notes!

Aloha!
