Thought I would jump in here as well.....we did walk to MGM from YC. Timed it - 15 minutes for DS15 and myself. DH and DS11 took the boat and we beat them. DS15 loves to do this! It is really a nice walk, not bad at all.

Also, your ADRs, :thumbsup2 for Yacht Club Galley. We tried this on the spur of the moment after arriving at Spoodles for our ADR a couple of weeks ago to find out they had changes their menu and some of our favorites were no longer on the menu. No more Fettucine Alfredo or NY Strip Steak on the menu at Spoodles. Yacht Club Galley was a fine substitute. We were pleasantly surprised.

I actually have two ADR's for YCG, so that's very good news. I was looking for something close to the hotel that might be a little more relaxed and quiet. What did you order there? I was a little concerned about Spoodles...seems like the menu is very limited, might be a tad too exotic for DS tastes too. IF they had a NY strip he'd definitely go for that, too bad they dropped it from the menu.

To all you lucky people leaving soon, have a wonderful trip! Looking forward to your trip reports and pics too!

Dis Ohana - Trying to remember. Also, I think the menu was different from the ones posted on DIS Home page dining or Allearsnet (I was looking those places to refresh my memory).

I know for sure DS11 had Crab Cakes for appetizer (we are from Maryland, so, he said they were pretty good, but not as good as around here, but not many Crab Cakes are!), DS11 and DH had the NY Strip (I believe, DH said it was a sirloin) which they both said was good (not as good as LeCellier, but good).

DS15 had the caesar salad (yummy - I am a salad fanatic and the lettuce at Disney is so fresh) and I believe the Cod for his entree, it was some kind of fish and recommended by the server, very good. DS15 and I both had the Boston Cream Pie for dessert, yummy. Trying to remember what I had, it was almost like a pot roast, very good and the caesar salad. DH had the cheesecake for dessert. Hope this helps, it was only a couple of weeks ago, I don't generally take pictures of our meals, but maybe I should! I just remember that we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was and DS11 said it was now one of his favorite Disney restaurant. Oh, try the Spinach dip w/ flat bread, this was recommended to us and we did not try, but saw others with this, it looked delicious.

We found the restaurant to be comfortable, we were very tired this evening, not as quiet as we had hoped, it was late (as I said we switched over to YCG after giving up our reservation for Spoodles), our server was excellent :thumbsup2 and the food was good. As you said, it is nice to go to a sit down restaurant at the resort for a couple of nights. We also went to Cape May Cafe on our trip, however, I really like the idea of a true sit down and not a buffet.

Thank you for the detailed report! I'm so glad I made those ADRs now. I was a bit hesitant because there isn't much out there about this restaurant. I eat a lot of salads while on vacation so it's good to know you think the ones at WDW are of good quality.

Just popping in to say hi! I leave for the YC in about three weeks with my dad. I have stayed there before but he hasn't. So I thought I would join in here and see if there aren't a few tops that I could pick up before we leave. We are both so excited! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hi,

Will be at Yacht club in two weeks!!:goodvibes I just have one question, is YC and BC connected? Can I walk from Yacht Club to Beach Club without leaving the resort? Is there a walkway connecting the two resort together? Thanks for your help.

There is not an interior walkway between YC and BC. However, there is a great exterior covered walkway connecting the two. The walkway is right along the outside of the YC / BC buildings (right next to Storm Along Bay); along the walkway are the resorts' gym, arcade, salon and Beaches and Cream.

Have a great trip!

I swear there was a walkway that connected the two of them. I am not absolutely positive though but I thought I recalled walking through the lobby, then past Yachtsman through hallways all the way to the Beach Club. The walk didn't seem much faster than going outside and walking near the pool, though.

There is a walkway but you definitely go outside for part of it. As soon as you pass the Yachtsman then you have to go outside through double doors to your right, where you walk along past the salon, health club, and Beaches & Cream. It is a covered walkway right up next to the building. Once you pass Beaches & Cream there are double doors on your left, where you can go in to the Beach Club lobby. When you walk in you see the lounge & Ariels on your left, and then as you proceed you see the Cape May Cafe and you walk around that.

So there is a small portion of the walk that is outside. The reason it doesn't connect completely is because, the salon, health club, Beaches & Cream, and Ariels are in the way.

Thank you BrianD for reconfirming my post, we have done this walk many, many times! We just love YC / BC!

Lalita - Here is a link to YC / BC resort map showing the walkway, hope this helps:

I am quite familiar with that walk as well. Especially those late night treks when I would have to go from our YC room to the BC Marketplace to go get my little one some apple juice! :)

Thank you Brian also.

HockeyMom - I wasn't trying to say you were wrong. I just thought there was the walkway but I was mistaken. I must have forgotten about the short distance by Beaches & Cream, etc. We only did the walk twice anyway so my memory failed me. :sad2:

I much preferred walking outside anyway. You just can't beat the view of the pool and Crescent Lake!

I didn't think that you were saying I was wrong, just wanted to make sure the correct info was out there. :) I totally understand not remembering, I had to really think about what my family had to eat at Yacht Club Galley just a few weeks ago to help write a review! :thumbsup2

Just curious - we will be checking into the YC on the 10th of August...is the Yacht Club Galley typically a place you need ADRs for? I am thinking of a breakfast or lunch......I am wondering if this could be a walk up option...any thoughts?

Typically yes, but in this day and age of Disney dining, I would have an ADR in place to be safe.

Disneyolic, it is a great resort! I wish I was there right now!
This truly was our favorite resort. Because of economic reasons we stayed at POR this past June but we have decided that we definitely want to save up for our next visit just so we can stay at the Yacht Club. We really missed it, especially during the evening hours when we would walk around Crescent Lake. Ahhh...dreaming..:cloud9:

Ditto to BrianD. We did get an instant ADR at YCG for dinner after deciding not to go to Spoodles. It also appeared that seating was available most days for Breakfast / lunch, but better safe than sorry!

Thanks, that is what I thought. It is nice to have a last minute option......I can always call the day before too. We have ADRs set up, but was just wondering for those in between times!

It is a good last minute option! Have a great trip and come back and share :wizard:
