How hard is it to get a first floor std. room? we are going sept. 16-23 and stayed in a first floor last year and loved it!

I'm not sure.... I just know that we had one on our last trip and we LOVED it... it was right near the tennis courts and very close to the quiet pool on the bottom floor @ the YC... we've never done the 1st floor before and it turned out great not having to wait for the elevator every time!!! :rotfl: I'd love to get a bottom floor again (or I guess I could deal with a 5th floor room if we ever got a complimentary upgrade! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )

I am toying with the thought of uprgrading our standard room BC room to a water view (so I won't risk looking at a parking lot). Does anyone have any opinions on these two room types?

I was soooo lucky last year and was upgraded from a std. room to a water view one on the first floor that I was spoiled! :-)

Looks like we will just miss you guys! 7/30 to 8/6 Be sure and call BC front desk a few days before you get there and tell them you guys have bdays in your group and what days they are. I was told by the lady at the front desk they will try and get balloons and a card up to you if you are celebrating a bday during the stay but you needed to call a few days before you get there. :goodvibes:

How cool! We just booked for Aug 20 to 23, to celebrate DD's birthday on the 22nd. I have the birthday noted on our ressie, but I'll have to be sure to mention it again at check-in. I know she'd adore any pixie dust surprises she might get. :goodvibes

The movies on the beach are new. We got a list at check in. I'd venture to say you coudl call ahead to get the list for a week or so in advance. We also loved the new campfire singalongs and marshmallow roasting.

Are they doing this every night, or only certain days?

We were there June 28-July 12th and they were doing the movies every night. They also were doing kids activities at the pool every day too - my kids had a ball. They did bingo, hula hoop contests, kids splash parties etc.

Can you use a DDP counter credit for breakfast at the Marketplace?

Yes, we used a counterservice credit for egg, ham and cheese croissant, a water and an oj (2 beverages and one sandwich). For a snack credit we were able to get a yogurt parfait, a bagel, and cinnamon rolls.

Thanks!! We're going only for 3 nights for F&WF and want to use our CS credits for breakfast, snack credits for the food booths and TS for our main meal of the day.

So, happy for you, but jealous. We just returned 10 days ago and I am planning our next trip for next June (looking for the 2008 pricing). Wish we could get back before then. Have a great time! We just love the YC / BC!

This sounds great! We've basically got 3 pool days planned - arrival day, departure day, and all day before the P&PP. So not only do we have the coolest pool to enjoy, we'll get to check out the activities too. :goodvibes

subscribing to this thread. Hopefully we'll be staying here next year for our 25th anniversary. I have a question regarding older kids, is this hotel older kid/adult friendly? I have 3 kids, 21, 19 and 15 at time of travel. My kids are getting older and would like to stay at a hotel where there are older kids. Not that we don't love younger children (my 2 older kids are going to be teachers), we're just looking for a more adult feel.
Thanks.;)

The older kids are fond of this resort just as the younger kids are ... you will find younger families at the BC ... and perhaps more of an "adult - older" orientation at the YC. At least that is what some would say. Personally we stay at the YC ... just seems not quite as busy as the BC side ... but you get all the amenities of both resorts. I did see quite a few older kids at the resort but couldn't tell you whether they were on the YC or the BC side. The arcade and SAB are located right in the middle of the two. Since it is just a stroll to Epcot, older kids can pop over there and wonder. So, I think that your kids would fit right in and feel comfortable here. We celebrated our 25there last Sept in the YC Concierge with our then DS8. It is a great place to celebrate. We always enjoy our stay there.

We have two "older" sons ages 11 & 15. After years of going to the YC / BC, my sons still just love it! We stayed at the YC this year and I do agree that it is "calmer". Your family will really like the close proximity to Epcot, Boardwalk and MGM.

As I think about it ... with the age of your kids ... the Boardwalk on a weekend night -- especially -- or doing a busy time ... will really appeal to them. There is a lot of action and stuff going on .... if there are sports fan in your family ESPN is over there .. and while I have never been ... I have heard good things about the dueling pianos over there.

Thanks for your quick replies. This resort is so beautiful, we are so looking forward to(hopefully) be able to stay here next year. We ate dinner at the Yacht Club Galley in April and I fell in love with this resort, dinner was calm and not chaotic as some of the other restaurants. The Beach Club resort is beautiful as well, we love the Cape May Cafe. I can't wait to read this entire thread to get as much info. as I can. Thank you again. ;)

Glad this thread is still around - we will be at YC for the first time 8/16-8/24 and the last few pages have been especially helpful and are definitely getting us psyched for a great trip!!!:cool1:

The YC/BC is one of our favorite resorts. Our March trip we went with several other families and stayed at the WL. Were upgraded and ended up with bunkbeds and courtyard view. It was lovely. This Sept. trip my DS9 wanted so badly to stay at WL in the bunkbeds and the YC doesn't have it. Turned out we could get the bunkbeds, courtyard and dining plan for almost $1000 less than the YC. We went ahead and took it. I will miss the YC though. I am going to meet my girlfriend there for lunch so will get to be back there for a bit. The pool, location, boardwalk at night, etc. makes it a perfect location. If you want a "quiet" experience be sure to check out the YC quiet pool. There was no one there when we stayed. The evenings in the pool and hot tub were heavenly especially with the whistles of the boats in the background.
