We have always requested and received a daybed, but I do always request. Especially with a family of 5, I think you will not have a problem getting a daybed.

Things I love about the Beach Club....The easy walk into and esp. out of Epcot at night (when all of the other people are heading towards the front of the park, it it so easy to walk out the "back" entrance"), access to great Epcot restaurants, Storm Along Bay, Beaches and Cream, walking over to the Boardwalk, we have always had great CMs and if there was a problem, they have been prompt about responding. My sons really like MGM as well and the close proximity of the Beach Club to MGM is a plus.

Have a great trip....we will be there on the 8th. Single Digits now!

What's the best way to request that right now? We leave on the 4th - arrive there at 9pm...or however long it takes to get from the airport via ME to the BC....Should I request a specific room? I figured with 5 - they'd kinda have to give us a daybed....fire codes & all...

Is walking to MGM a possibilty? We have athletic - fit kids...but the humidity...will be somethng else...as we are from San Diego...

Families with 5 are given priority for the daybed rooms, so you shouldn't need to make any special requests. If you want to put in a request for a specific room number, you should call reservations or your travel agent and have it noted on your reservation. Considering it's a busy week, Disney may go ahead and pre-assign rooms. If not, then unfortunately, you are not going to have a tremendous choice of inventory if you aren't arriving until 9pm or later. I have not stayed at the BC, but on a previous trip to the YC, I needed a daybed as well. We didn't arrive until close to 11pm and they didn't have anything available. We were given a rollaway and they offered to move us to another room the next day, which we did.

What do you think of BC's Marketplace for breakfast? We're mainly muffin, bagels and coffee. The kids will eat just about anything. Good selection or fair? I heard both opinions. Just looking for some recent visitors thoughts. We there in two weeks.

Thanks,
Dave:banana:

I agree with Tammi....have the daybed noted on your reservation before you arrive (either through your TA or Disney reservations). We have never requested a specific room, I hear this is difficult because if that specific room is not available for your dates the assigners are not sure what else to assign you??

Walking to MGM - it is definitely doable with athletic kids. We did it as a family two years ago when sons were ages 13 and 9. Also, in the past my older impatient son has "beat the boat from MGM to Beach Club". I think the walk is about 15 minutes, but in the heat of July it may be difficult. I am sure we will be trying it this year, though. :)

When we were there in Nov (Dolphin) we walked to both MGM and Epcot with no problems at all ... note the not so physically fit people below. ;) DS used his w/c and DD had a blast pushing him in circles and being goofy with him on the walk. We were pretty much the only people on the walk it did not seem like to many people braved it. DH and I have talked about the fact that in the July heat we may not be able to do that as much as we did in the cooler weather. We plan on walking to Epcot especially at night still though and playing the rest by ear.

as a San Diegan, I guess you don't need to be reminded to bring a water bottle for the walk:rotfl2:

it's a permanent attachment to most of us in SD

Seriously though, don't forget inhalers if anyone needs them. I left mine in the room twice and, boy, could I have used it. The moist air was hard to breathe sometimes.

I just returned from the BC on June 8th. If you're mainly muffin, bagels & coffee you should be just fine. We ordered the ham/egg/cheese omelet crousiant (sp?) one day & it was pretty good. They also have little packaged bowls of cereal, donuts & fruit.

Sorry if this has been asked before....

How big are the YC daybeds??? I am wondering if I should bring my aero for DS16 to use.

Last year he didn't come with us and we just had 2 queens. Don't remember from long past visits how large they are!

Thanks,

Lives4Disney :)

The daybeds at YC / BC are not as large as the new Poly daybeds (which seem to be almost twin size). I can give you an estimate - my DS now 11 has been sleeping on YC / BC daybed since he was 5. Two years ago he was about 5' 1" and fit just fine. We are counting on him sleeping there again and at 5' 3" I think he will be just fine, but I would say anyone over 5' 6" maybe a bit uncomfortable. This is just my estimate, maybe someone has an adult relative who has slept on one. Good Luck!

Ok I have a question about the fridges if anyone can remember. Do they have that teeny freezer portion in the top of them or are they all fridge?

I would say you are right about that. my 4 year old slept on the daybed fine, and I lay down on it a few times and was fine, but I'm only 5'2". can't imagine my husband (5'9") would have been very comfortable...don't think he could have stretched out.

From several years ago now there was a small area right off the YC lobby where you could get coffe and small breakfast items - cereal, juice, bagel, fruit and donuts. A more extensive choice would be to walk over to the Market Place at the Beach Club. Years ago also Beaches and Cream used to sell the most amazing donuts and other breakfast items.

Daybeds....

Thanks for that info. Well, looks like we will be bringing our aerobed. DS is 16 1/2 yrs old and about 5'9". Actually, I bet he's outgrown the GF daybeds, too. We are doing a GF/YC split. Aero will come in handy from now on!

Funny nobody in our family can remember :rotfl2: We have never had the need for a freezer, we just store drinks in the refrigerator.

I think we are going before your dates....I can report back about the freezer part when we return!

The Crew's Cup Lounge still has breakfast items in the morning.

The fridge we had at the YC did not have the little freezer area on top.

Paras4riThanks for answering about the freezer, we have been to Disney Deluxes at least 3 times since they have added the refrigerator in the room and for the life of us we could not remember if there was a freezer or not. So, now I will tell the rest of my family....no freezer :)

Forgot to mention I also truly miss breakfast at B&C - my favorite were the Mickey donuts. I've never found them anywhere else in the world since.

Yes, the Mickey donuts....the Boardwalk Bakery sold them as well. No more....where have the Mickey Donuts gone? Haven't seen them since late 2001 or maybe 2003.
