Great thread! My question is how much does it cost to do a load of laundry, and do they provide the soap? Thanks.

Joe Cool, This is the best--just so much great info.
DH, myself, DD(9), and DS(6) are staying at BC for first time for 6 wonderful nights,
then 4 day cruise on Wonder.
Question: Is concierge available for our stay ? Booked standard/cat. 6 on cruise
Thanks for info on how to fax requests on room. Will do that.
Any ideas/ suggestions greatly needed!

Suz,

To my knowledge, if you book a room via DCL, you can pay extra to get your room upgraded. How much extra? Me dunno. You're going to have to call DCL...or even Central Reservations. I'm not sure how they arrange who books what.

Keep on DIS'in...

Hi Joe.

I switched my reservation from the Dolphin to the Beach club, because of your great site. I need a non-smoking room, are those just on the 3rd floor? I would like a room with a full balcony, waterview and to be able to see the fireworks at night. NOt too much to ask?

Which room would give me the best of everything?

Ok...

princessmomma, nah, they have non-smoking rooms on every floor...but the third floor is completely non smoking.

Best of everything? a waterfront room with a full balcony and queen beds is the ticket, near the main elevators, but if I were to mention one specific BC room I'd pick 3691. This is an oversized water view corner room with the queen beds and a daybed. Be careful, because they aren't really great with fulfilling requests for specific room numbers anymore.

Ciao,

JC

Joe, My family along with my parents will be going to BC on Oct 1st. My mother has never been to WDW, this will probably be her one and only time and I would really like to make this trip special. We have reserved water view rooms, and plan to request connecting rooms, full balcanies, lagoon view, queen beds, and non-smoking. Are you saying we should pretty much leave it at that and not ask for a specific room? Would this upset them and cause them to give us a bad room?

Hey Terry,

Eh...no. That's not exactly what I meant. :D They're not great with fulfilling specific requests anymore because they changed the policy with room assignments. As far as I know, all rooms (except the named suites, which go through a different ressie office altogether) are assigned at check-in, not five days before. So basically, they have no way of knowing what's available for you until the last minute. And...there's really no such thing as a bad room. Except if your room is the size of a walk-in closet with a lovely view of a chimney and some bird doo-doo on the roof. :p

I would keep your request as simple as you can, but keep in mind that connecting rooms with that specification will be scarce. I'm not even sure which rooms are connecting...that's my next project.

Thanks, and I hope everything is awesome on your trip!

JC

All I can say is WOW!! This is the most info I've ever seen on these resorts!! Great job!!

Room 5174 is connecting on the concierge floor. I really didn't want on, it was just me and my son but we got one and we had a nice older couple beside us. no noise, that ia what I thought you would get from a connecting room. the doors that connected near never got unlocked.:)

Hey Joe!!!
We have 3 rooms for our upcoming Nov Trip...

Here is the situation...My Dad is 76 and won't go higher then 2nd floor....My older brother has a prostetic leg but walks great....and I have 2 kids 6 and 2....
8 of us going....
What rooms closest to the elevator on floors 1 or 2 would be nice...

thanks...
Love the site check it everyday!!

We have stayed at the Yacht Club our last 5 visits to the World. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. In fact, the last stay we got to have the Vice President and his "posse" stay with us. Joe, we only wish we had you to advise us earlier. Your a great teacher on our favorite subject (YC 101).

Hey!

Peanut, that was the idea! I want to have even more stuff on here, but I don't have time because of my hellish schedule...! Thanks for the kudos, hey maybe someday we could get all the DIS Resorts Board FAQ threads together and publish a book. That'd be kind of cool...

ellie&mattysmom, OK Yacht or Beach?

Yacht Club rooms all have full balconies except for the first floor and like a couple of the suites. Go for second floor, near the elevators. You won't get 3 connecting rooms (they don't have 'em). You might get two connecting rooms and one next door, or even across the hall.

Beach Club second floor rooms have full balconies...well, most of them. Request near the elevator away from the construction and you'll be OK.

Y'know, something you guys could try is a Yacht Club 2-bedroom turret suite on the first or second floor. I think it would be cheaper than a standard room, but I'm not exactly sure with tax and extra person fees. That's one thing I don't have exact info up on here about. I figure 3 standard rooms in November are $279 each per night, about $309 with tax, which adds up to around $930 per night for the three. 3 water view rooms during the same season are $325 per night, about $360 with tax, and $1,080 per night for the three.

The turret suite sleeps 8 or 10 (i'm not sure if there is a sofabed in the tower room!), is Water View, and is $1,070 per night...you only need one of these. Whichever fits your needs you should go for, and even if you have 3 parties paying for their rooms individually, y'all could still find a way to split the cost of the suite. We did that one year at the GF...2 nights in the Roosevelt Suite (over $1,600 per night), split 2 or 3 ways.

EGOLIAK, thanx...

Its the Beach Club....suite wouldn't work...we got too good of a deal thru SOG at $160.00 a night!!!!

2nd floor would be than first....

Thanks

We are making our 1st trip to BC this Tuesday (can't believe its almost here), we have 2 small children and need some grocery supplies in our room. We have ordered a refrig. but don't know where to get some essentials.(milk, yougurt, snacks, etc.....) Is there any stores in the area or delivery companies. It is too late to order from NetGrocers to get it there in time. (that was a great idea I read from an earlier post).

Any ideas from you BC veterans?

Thanks

Woa! Congratz!

OK the Boardwalk's got 2 stores that will pretty much fill the bill. You don't have to comb the phone books or enlist NetGrocer for essentials. The shop in the Boardwalk's lobby is called Dundy's Sundries, and the place on the actual boardwalk on the Villas side is...um...Thimbles & Threads. It's actually 3 stores, one oriented towards sundries, one that's for clothing, and another is just gifts and disney stuff.

JC

Thanks for the info on the grocerys Joe Cool Breeze. Do we need to bring our own beach towels or do they have them at the pool? 2 days to go and I am trying to tie up all loose ends.

Thanks

JC, Whats the best way (least expensive) to get from the Orlando airport to BC. Is the Mears shuttle the best bet?

Stay cool !!

Any idea what type of renovations are going on there and when they will be done. We are going at the end of October and understand that they will re-open by then.
