Taking our first trip to Disney and my wife and I will have small back packs. Is Disney like most parks with cubbies to store stuff in while your ride the rides, do they have something more secure?

Any concerns with theft while we are on the rides?

There are no cubbies to store your items. Some of the rides have pouches on the back of the seats to store your stuff.
I have never had a problem taking my small back pack on the rides with me.
Disney is just like any other place, of course there are dishonest people there. It's unfortunate but that is the way it is.

You can take your backpacks with you on all the rides. The lockers (cubbies) are at the entrance of each park.

No, they don't have "cubbies" for people to put their stuff in, at least none I've ever seen or heard of. People either take their bags with them because some rides have a place to put stuff at your feet (not rough or intense rides) or hold on your lap, or lock things in a locker. Sometimes people with strollers will leave things on them, although that is risky too. I usually take a fanny pack and just adjust it on my waist so it's not in the way of safety bars. In fact, having been to Universal Hollywood, Sea World and a few other parks, I dont' ever remember seeing cubbies for anything other than shoes for kids play areas. What parks have you been to that have cubbies?

Yeah i cant think of one ride where you cannot ake your back pack, NOT sure about the new roller Coaster at AK.

They have lockers at the parks (for a fee), but if all you have are small backpacks, take them on the rides with you. My backpack goes along on everything.

Expedition Everest. It is the same, too.

On Soarin', if your backpack is too big to fit in the mesh under-seat bag (many are) just sit it on the floor in front of you and a CM will come along and sit it to the side, where you can pick it up as you exit.

We live in Richmond, Va and go to Kings Dominion and Busch Garden. They both have cubbies or some place to put stuff for most if not all rides.

Our Six Flags has cubbies too...but no, nothing like that at Disney.

Are you talking about Everest or is there another roller coaster?

They have not built another coaster at DAK since EE.

BTW, disneyworldluvr, your use of the MediumTurquoise color virtually disappears on-screen.
I can barely make it out.

most rides in disney let you off at the nearest store. In other words--you wont be getting off where you got on....maybe thats why there are no cubbies a disney.

Doesn't poster mean Lockers? They are at front of every park but inconvenient if you ask me. Though SOMETIMES if we have a "Nice restaurant" reservation we have left a change of clothes in locker to feel a bit more comfortable.

IOA and Universal had lockers that you could store your bags in for long enough to ride the ride (they don't allow bags of any kind on some of their rides, mostly the coasters).

The lockers work electronically - there is a computerized keypad that gives you a code to use for your locker.

I have to say the last time I did this that the computer assigned me a locker and when I went to that locker, it was already full of someone else's stuff. I could have run off with all their stuff had I been so inclined.

I am not sure I will use them again. I will have to do Universal without bags, or travel with someone who won't ride coasters and can hold my bag.

At WDW I just take the bag on all the rides.

I know some of the rides at Cedar Point, they had a big wood box that you had to put your backpack in, so there is really no way to tell if someone could make off with your pack or not. Same thing at our local dinky amusement park, they don't allow a backpack on most rides and you have to stick it in a box or cubby thing while you ride. Its just a little unsettling to leave your bag in a common area where anyone could just pick it up and go...

Yea, Disney would rather be hassle free and family friendly, so they allow all bags of any kinds on any ride, including Rock N Roller Coaster and Everest. Of course, CM's can hold stuff for you, but be aware that it is not their responsibility to watch it, so if a guest takes it, it can't be Disney's fault.

Disney does not have cubbies next to rides...but they do provide places under or in front of the seats to place items while riding. I carried a small purse with me on every ride. On rides where no pocket was provided, I simply stuck the purse next to me...between the seat and me ...and had no trouble keeping up with it.

Must be an East Coast thing, because I've never seen cubbies at an amusement park. I had to open the thread because my thought was "Cubbies? Really?" Now I know.
