We have stayed groundfloor and it was not even an inner room and it was lovely. DO NOT STRESS. You will be at the LODGE.....There is so much beauty there that you cannot go wrong. You will be so inspired by all that there is to see and do there that you will only sleep in your room..Honestly... do not worry.. they are very accommodating and will help get you what you want.

Whew, finally made it through this awesome thread! As far as I can tell there are plenty of inner courtyard, higher floor fanatics out there but I'd like to hear from anyone who has stayed in a ground floor room. If you have, please post your experience and note your location (inner courtyard north or south, woods north or outer courtyard/villas south. Staying at WL for the first time 8/29-9/6 with DH and DSs, 12 & 19, and stressing over room location.

We have never actually had ground floor, but in 2005, we were on the 2nd floor Inner courtyard, heading down the south wing. It was the same floor as the lobby, mercantile, etc, which made it really easy to get to the room. We were also just down the hall (but not too close) to the stairs going down to the pool. It was a VERY convenient location to get everywhere. On Mornings we were headed to MK, we would head down the stairs to the boat dock, and on mornings we needed the bus, we went right out the lobby. It was MUCH quieter than I thought...I was worried about noise from the pool. We did hear the boat horns on occasion, but no pool noise with the sliding doors closed (but it was Dec....it's not like the pool was packed every afternoon..that could make a difference.) It was so nice not to have to wait for the elevators! I usually enjoy first floor rooms too, as it gives you a 2nd exit, but at WL, I felt like the only rooms that theat would be convenient in would be inner courtyard...everywhere else, you'd have a shorter walt through the halls, it seemed. I don't remember out exact room number, but it was 215something.

I hope that helps! Enjoy your stay at the Logdge...I can't wait to get back in just over 4 months now!!!

Thank you Lou-Ann and Piglets Mommy. I feel MUCH better now. I will be sure to post my experience of WL from a first timers point of view when we get back. P.S. My boys are 12 & 9 (not 19 - yikes!).

Well this will be my 15th trip to WDW and my first to WL!:cool1:

We are so excited, got two courtyard view rooms at a great AP discount rate that just came out today.

Any tips on getting a inner-courtyard, off-lobby (bear face) room?

Request an inner-courtyard view room off of the lobby. ;)

Well good luck with that courtyard view lol. However I stayed where the room over looked the VWL and it ended up being very nice.

We were in a ground floor room in May. We had been upgraded from a standard view. I think it was more outer courtyard. It was lovely! We saw lots of little animals out the door. The pool, while we could not see it except through the shrubs, was a short walk away. We were close to the elevator which took us up to the lobby and to the walkway to the buses. It was so very quiet!!! The only real noise we ever heard was the one time we were in our rooms when the water pageant came around and we heard the music. It was just beautiful though!!!

We are traveling to the The Wilderness Lodge for the 1st time in 3 weeks  I currently have 2 guaranteed connecting rooms WV (one room with bunk beds for the kids and one without for us ;) anyway, my question is do the Deluxe rooms have bunkbeds?..I am thinking of upgrading to the Deluxe room because it is club level...but my kids really want the bunk beds....I heard conflicting stories....does anyone have pictures of these rooms and where are they located??? Is it better to be in the main building?? any information would be so appreciated!!! :thumbsup2

I have no pictures but want you to know that WL only has one main building...VWL is a separate building.

So the deluxe rooms are located in the VWL?? What rooms can you get club level at the wilderness lodge??? not villas... I am a little confused....:)

No...the deluxe rooms are in the Lodge...the other building is the Villas.

The CL rooms are either the Deluxe rooms ( I don't *think* any of those have bunks, but I could be wrong) as well as "Standard" CL rooms...avail in all view categories.

Hope that helps.

Piglets Mommy is correct. The Lodge is the Lodge. All room categories are there. As to bunks I cannot comment. I only mentioned VWL as you seemed confused thinking there were multiple buildings. VWL is the time share. it is connected by a long covered walkway but unless you rent points or are a member you cannot stay there as I understand.

For your purposes, we are talking about a 7 story building with two wings and a cross wing connecting them. the 7th story are the club level rooms.

Thanks for the info....I am trying to figure out if I should upgrade...but I wasn't sure where the deluxe rooms were located and if they had bunk beds..I try to read as much as I can but have yet to come across the answer...:confused3

Check out the first page....about 1/2 way to 3/4 way down is a room layout of the deluxe rooms, as well as locations and room #'s...It looks like they are all 2 Queen rooms..no bunks...If your kids want the bunks, then go with the "Standard" rooms. Keep in mind that the Deluxe rooms have Club Level acces, but are NOT on the Club Level floor....Personally, with kids, I'd rather be on the CL floor for "convenience". You'll have more space in the Deluxe, but I think being ont he same floor would have more of a luxury feel. (but I need to note that I have not stayed CL...just my opinion on things)

We were upgraded from standard view to a ground level inner courtyard viee in the North wing. We loved it!! We were literally 20 seconds from Roaring Forks which was so convenient when we needed to refill our mugs. We also loved being close to the pool and boats. We had a bit longer of a walk to the mercantile and the buses, but still manageable. I'd definitely stay in tge same room again if I had the opportunity. You're going to have a great stay...don't worry!

With 3 kids (one is 2) and a bunk, is there room for a pack n play?

I think so...I think there will be room beside the TV, in front of the connecting door. If not, you could put it in the closet area, it will stick out some, but it should fit.

For the poster asking about Concierge rooms with bunks:

Don't worry!! I just spoke with someone and they said that that CM must have been mistaken about the only 4 CL bunkbed rooms! :)

There are 43 regular (standard) rooms - these rooms are all views.
There are at least 1/3 of those room will be bunkbed rooms.

Now, there are only 4 honeymoon suites. (That's where they thought the CM got mixed up). :confused3

One Vice Presidential, and one Presidential.

There are deluxe suites but those are on the ends of the wings of other floors.

Believe me if you ask and them remind the IPO about 5-10 day before you shouldn't have a problem.

GOOD LUCK!!

I will be there next weekend, so if there is anything else you need me to find out I can!! :thumbsup2

Kathy

I will post a more info over the next few days.Still trying to get everything in order. We were at the Lodge from 7.13 to 7/20. Had a great stay. We were in room 1153 inner CY bunkbed room. Location as great afterall. It was nice to be at the pool and walk right in and down the hallway to our room. Room was better than we expected which is always nice.It was plenty of room for 2adults and 2 children. Could have used another drawer for clothing but it was fine. Here are some pixs for now of the room and view. Will give more info shortly. I have over 600 pictures from this trip so if you need photos please ask I just may have it :)
Enjoy!
