The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

There are only 4 honeymoon suites. They all open into the lobby. 2 are on one side, 2 on the other. You can't book a certain one only request it. When you walk out of the HM suite you are in the center of the hotel with a beautiful view of the lobby. Other rooms offer all the other choices; inner courtyard, woods, pool, bearface...ect. The HM only have the 2 views. I had requested inner courtyard pool view when I made my reservations. When we got there, they had upgraded us for free to the HM suite and eventhough it wasn't the view I wanted the room was worth the suffering :).

Thank you Ang38. Another question, though. Did you have standard view or inner courtyard? At the beginning of this thread, the OP refers to standard view rooms off the lobby, but then later on refers to inner courtyard view rooms off the lobby. And their seem to be a lot more choices than what you described. I'm so confused.

We're going back to The Lodge this next trip (Sept. 09) and I've heard that they have a lot more activities at the pool & the beach. Could someone list some of them for me to give me an idea? I have seen pictures of duck races, but what else? Do they do movies on the beach like at BC? Smores?

Thanks in advance! I really just wanted to post in the Lodge thread again to help me get jazzed up again about planning! :wizard:

I'm going in Sept too! When are you going to be there?

"Is there a Wall Safe located in the rooms?

The rooms do have a small Key-operated safe in the closet to store valuables. It's big enough for your plane tickets, cash/travelers checks and maybe some jewelry, but not much more. For storing larger valuables inquire at the front."

Is this still the case? I really don't like the idea of a key operated safe. I like those touch pad ones like at the Poly or CR. Does anyone know if it's still key operated? and is still small? The poly and Cr's are nice bigger ones.
That's one reason we stick with the Poly and CR - those nice, big safes. Unfortunately, it's still the wall safe at the WL (and the mods. and values). I even asked on the Beach and Yacht Club thread recently about their safes, but even after they rehabbed the BC rooms recently, the little wall safes remain.

"Courtyard View Overlooking the Villas:
There are Courtyard View rooms located in the south wing that face south and have a view of the Villas and the smaller Hidden Springs Pool. The rooms also have a view of the forest between the Lodge and Ft. Wilderness Campground. I have enjoyed watching the local wildlife visit the edges of the woods during my visits. These rooms are some of the quietest rooms so would be great for light sleepers. They are located on floors 1-6, the room #’s would be even numbers from 1130-1164, 2130-2164, 3130-3164, 4130-4164, 5130-5164 and 6130-6164. The rooms located on the 6th floor # 6130-6164 have the enclosed dormer balconies so guest have to stand to view the courtyard."

Could someone verify for me if all of the rooms in the above category on floors 2-5 have balconies?

Yes, they do. Just remember, that as it says in what you copy/pasted the 6th floor has the enclosed balcony.

Could someone who is familiar with the bus service at WL give me and idea of how long it takes in general to get to each park? We want to arrive at rope drop at least one day for each park and want to know how early we should be out from waiting for a bus.

Thanks! :yay: Just 4 more sleeps to we finally get to see it!!! :woohoo:

Hi!

I am very new to these boards and think everyone who helps answering questions is wonderful! You really help people make educated decisions! Anyway... I am booked for my first stay at WL Sept 24-Sept 29. I am extremely excited because this is our first stay at a deluxe resort and the pictures and reports of WL are amazing! I read the first 55 pages of this thread and realized it will take days to read all of it. I have booked a Woods view overlooking otter pond. My question is about the 6st floor. It sounds like those balconies are enclosed and would require you to stand for the view. Does that make the 4th or 5th floors better? Just want to make sure I understand the description of that floor. Also, do they have bedrails for toddlers or is that something I would have to take with me.

Thanks in Advance!
Nancy

For the MK, the boat ride takes about 15mins but give yourself at least 20-25 in case you just miss a boat.

For the studios and AK we never waited more than 10 to 15 mins for a bus and the ride was never more than 10 mins (so give yourself at least 30 mins, 45 to be safe).

for Epcot we never waited LESS than 30 mins for a bus and often waited over an hour. We tried to arrive at the parks by about 11 am so there were less buses running than first thing in the morning but we were very disappointed with the transportation to Epcot. Honestly give yourself 90mins for Epcot.

We thought maybe it was just a bad day but all 4 times (twice to and twice from) Epcot were like this. We were also there during a slower time (Dec13-19) so maybe that had something to do with it.

Hi Nancy,

You can request bed-rails and I would do so ahead of time.

As far as the enclosed balconies, you are correct. The upper floors do have enclosed balconies so you would have to stand up to see them. As far as which is better it really is a matter of opinion. If you are asking then it sounds like the 4th or 5th floor would work out better for you. Good luck in planning!

Anyone have a current list of "food" items. in CL. I've seen some much earlier in these posts but they're old and only list a few days.

Thanks, just trying to plan our noshing!

I just rebooked my July vacation (for the 3rd time!), this time with the AP rates that came out today. I upgraded from a standard view to a woods view (only because the standard view wasn't available) and still saved another $143.

I took this pic from the wdwinfo web site. Has anyone stayed in the rooms on the end that I marked in yellow? Are these courtyard view rooms? Any of them king beds?

Just booked 5 nights at the end of July!!!! Wanted to make this a cheaper trip and still stay at the WL, so we booked a standard room. Hopefully I wont regret not getting a courtyard or a CL room. Can anyone tell me about the standard rooms?

We too are staying in a WL standard view this July. This will be our first stay at the WL. Needless to say we are very excited. What should we expect with standard view? Are there any floors or wings that we should request for standard view? Is there any better location or does it really matter?

I just changed our reservation (yet again) to WL, 13 nights, woods view. 11/24-12/7 with free dining. I had originally booked it courtyard view, then changed totally to Coranado Springs (!!) then couldn't stand it, and changed back to Wilderness Lodge. I asked for the northside otter pond view, hope I get it. :)

Anyone?

I'm getting hungry!

Can you quote yourself? Guess I just did!
