Hi, everyone! Scott is off today and I am making shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches and onion rings.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and your Monday is a good one :)

WFDT? CHURRASCO!!!! :hyper:

I thought of you this weekend as I grilled bacon to have on my burger Saturday night. :thumbsup2 It was soooooooo good.

I was grilling in the rain this weekend. :umbrella: Made my burger, with grilled bacon, Saturday and had country ribs that I marinated in a bottled wasabi barbecue sauce yesterday. I didn't make dinner until late yesterday so it was dark out and in the middle of cooking my ribs the light went out. So not only was it raining, it was dark. Thankfully there was a little flame action going on with the grill so I could see where the meat was :rotfl:

Going to be a long, busy week and a busy weekend too, my DN has a swim meet and her Dsis has a karate thing.

Happy Monday! Another beautiful day here!!!

Nancy - I'm so sorry that Buddy is having a hard time with this. Things like this can really get a person down! Stay strong for him, and you are both in my prayers!

Marilyn - Your grilling adventure sounds fun! I would love to grill, but ours died last summer, so I'm looking for something for Alan for Father's day.

PIO - Your pictures are wonderful! You mentioned dragonfruit... I was wandering the produce section of my market on Saturday, and found some! It looked so exotic I really wanted to buy one for the kids, but wasn't sure what it tasted like. With your recommendation, I think I'll go back there today and get one for them to try! Feel better!!! You are in my prayers!

Lindsay - Enjoy your time with Scott!! I cannot wait for Alan's schooling to be over this semester! By this time next week, he'll be done, and then he'll have every afternoon and evening off. He'll be home by 2:00 every day! You should see my "honey do" list!

Thank you all so much for the good thoughts! Alan's work offered him a job transfer to the Southern Utah area last week. This is a wonderful offer for him, and they really want him to take it. We really want to take this job, but told his bosses that it would have to be a year from now, when Alan is done with all the required classes he needs to take. The biggest "pro" for this is that we'd be stationed in the same town my father lives in. I've been so worried about him being alone, that this move seems the answer to my prayers! I'll keep you all posted as things progress, but it looks like his work will hire a temporary person to fill the position for a year, until we can move down there. Keep us in your thoughts so that this transition will be smooth for us all, especially the kids!

Dinner tonight is up in the air. I have to pick up my new glasses, and I'm not sure how long that will take. I'm thinking the Caprese pasta that Jen posted on her blog. I'll do some chicken tenders with them for my meat lovers.

....srsly, I ask you: is there any other way? :confused3 popcorn::

Good Monday morning my foodie friends.

Nan ~ My prayers and thoughts are with you and Bud. I can't imagine how hurt he is over all of this. Thank the good Lord for you though, you have been a rock thru all of this. Bless your heart - you really are a wonderful person.

Glynis ~ WooHoo!!! Sounds just about perfect for all of you. I will keep you all in my good thoughts. Please keep us posted.

Kimmer ~ I love your new toy. That looks like something I would love.

Alison ~ God Luv ya!! You take care!!

PIO ~ Please don't wear yourself out. You still need to rest and take care of that cough.

Merle ~ Have a good week and find some time to rest in your busy week.

Brandi ~ Are you home yet? I can't wait to hear all about your Vegas travels.

Lindsay ~ Hi! You and Scott have a good day together!!

We worked hard this weekend. Doug got the lawm mowed, trimmed and sprayed. I got the wash done and most of the packing done. We are driving so we have decided to just hang the clothes in the back seat of the car. It's actually kind of nice not having to pack everything for a plane ride. Plus it will be nice to have the car to go where and when we want.

We did go to the Country Club yesterday afternoon and got 18 holes of golf in. The first time we have been out this year. It was a bit chilly but no wind and a beautiful day. Went to the Marina for a pizza and a beer. Wonderful way to end a fun weekend.

I am having a procedure done today. I wasn't at all nervous but as the morning goes on the nerves are getting to me. I will just be glad to have it over. We have to travel to Kearney for it and after I am finished we hope to stop by and see Lilly. Marty had to go back to work today and Stephanie is by herself and a bit nervous. I know she will be just fine - she just doeesn't think so.

WFDT ~ Beerf stew (in the crock pot so it will be ready when we get home for the hospital) crusty rye bread.

Make it a great day everyone.

...haven't you ever seen the infomercial with Ron Popiel? It's been around for at least 10 years!! Makes the BEST rotisserie chicken I've ever eaten! Once in a while I make prime rib in it too - OMG, dee-LISH!

What's this? :confused3

Nancy - I'm sorry that Buddy is having such a difficult time. I agree, the sooner it's over the better.

Glynis - how exciting for you! That's so great that Alan can finish his studies and that you will be close to your father. Where is it you'll be moving to?

PIO - take it easy, hope you're back to 100% soon.

Marilyn - you are brave to grill in the rain. I'm not sure why I am shying away from my grill, the weather here has been beautiful

Ellen - have a great trip. I'm almost ready to start putting stuff into suitcases!

Fran is coming along. She is still in a lot of pain. We found out that what she has is a venous ulcer, and it has been many years in the making. We continue to see the nurses, but now in the office instead of at home.

WFD? PIOs porterhouse sounds good, but we'll see how I feel after the dressing change.

If/when it happens we'll be moving somewhere in southern Utah. Ideally, we'd be in Cedar City, which is where my dad lives. However, we might have to go 50 miles to the south to St. George. Not my first choice, as the summer temperatures are almost unbearable! We're hoping that his bosses will approve Cedar City.

A couple nights ago, the Costco people got me. They had a mexican food outlet there who sold already made things like tamales, Chile Verde, Pollo Asadao, but what got me was the Beef Barbacoa. We had that along with Pupusas (corn tortillas stuffed with cheese) Friday night and I made Beef Enchiladas according to their package recipe Saturday night. They came out really good.

Still debating on what to have tonight.

Jeff used to do all of our grilling. Marisa hated the way beer smelled so he would have one or two outside while he stood over teh grill. I always got a kick out of him standing under his umbrella, two cold ones by his side.......rain was not enough to deter him when he wanted a beer!

They must really want him and rightly so!

:hug::hug:

.

Poor thing  I hope that her pain is alleviated soon!

I am making a chicken casserole. If it is good I'll post the recipe. I decided to start my diet tomorrow :upsidedow I want a glass of wine!

Buddy is back to work, thank goodness. He has been home all week and miserable. I am grateful he was able to at least interact with his Mom but he has been having a hard time reconciling her behavior throughout their lives. Right to her last decision to be buried with her parents and siblings. He was floored by that and cannot imagine how she came to that decision. His father adored her and he and his brother both are devastated by this last "stab" at him. :sad2:

We have scheduled a Mass for her on Saturday at her Church with a coffee and pastry hour after. We were not able to have access to the kitchen but that is a good thing IMO. I think that the sooner this thing is over the better.

 Sending good thoughts for continued healing.

What great news, G!!!! I hope that everything works out. And I know you guys will be so glad once Alan graduates!

Continued good thoughts for both you and her. I know it's difficult being a patient, but it's also difficult being a caregiver!

PIO~~~ Gorgeous pics, dahling. I've missed your pics!

Hey y'all! I'm just too busy to get on here much anymore!

6 more weeks of work till summer break!!!

Today was a good day at work, just busy! Then I went shopping after work and an elderly lady fell and passed out next to me in the aisle. I stayed with her until the ambulance came, but it was very scary. I can't stop thinking about her.

Tonight's dinner was sausages and homemade macaroni salad. Easy and quick summery supper!

Hope everyone else is well.

Hi everyone,

Well I am at work today but yesterday was horrible. The procedure I had to have was VERY very painful, so they really gave me some heavy duty pain medicine. I was really loopy for most of the day and evening, plus with not eating or drinking anything all day when I finally did I got really sick. YUCK!!! I am so glad it is over. I went to bed at 8 and slept til Doug woke me up at 7:00 this morning. I am at work today and feel just fine, but man I will NEVER do that again. Thank goodness I probably won't ever have to.

4 days till vacation. :cool1:

WFDT ~ Chicken casserole, rye bread and glazed carrots.

Make it a great day!!

Lindsay - Hope things are okay with you and Scott. Nice to see you posting.

Marilyn - Despite the duck weather, it sounds like you had a good weekend. It's raining today here...and we're expecting 2 inches of rain by the time we're done. Already had half of that.

Glynis - I hope you found the dragonfruit and tried it. What wonderful news and a good offer for Alan. And even more perfect that they are going to wait the year so Alan can finish his classes. I hope the year goes quickly for you.

Ellen - I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad time with the procedure. Speedy recovery and I hope you have a relaxing time away.

Kimmar - Hope the NJASK testing isn't too testing on you. And I want your recipe for chimichurra.

Alison - Hope that Fran is still getting better and that you are really starting to get excited about your trip.

Jen - I've missed my food porn too!

It's a public holiday, ANZAC Day, here today. I'm taking it easy. And it is Wednesday....mum's for dinner.
