The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Gretchen - prayers on the way for Jessica. That's frightening; I hope she will make a full recovery.

Lauren - prayers that things settle down for you and that you're able to focus on getting the house sold and resettled soon.

Nancy - Kady makes me laugh. Good luck to Buddy tomorrow.

Michelle - that's sad about your parents, they don't realize what they are missing.

Janice - scary. Glad you're okay.

I know I have no right to complain, but I'm sick of this cold weather. I can't wait until summer gets here. We've got freezing temps again tonight and they're saying where I live may have a mix of snow/sleet Thursday night to Friday morning. I don't know how you ladies up north do it. God bless you all for that. Dinner tonight is chinese - I'll pick it up on the way home. I'm too tired to cook. I'll be glad when this week is over.

Prayers for Jessica. Also prayers for the surgeon's to take care of her the best possible. Also for the family and friends. Gretchen I have no idea what is going on with the house...but good thoughts for that too.

Michelle, prayers for your neighbor and family.

I really need to go shovel the walk and a couple things but not motivated. It is heavy so Andrew cant even do it for me. School has been cancelled tomorrow.

Hugs to all.

Quick update. The orthopedic surgeon has just finished his part. A titanium rod inserted from her shoulder to her elbow. Now they are beginning the work on her face. They don't expect to be finished until much later. I may have to update you all tomorrow morning.

Thank you for all the prayers.

How is Hailey doing with this? That poor girl! Thanks for letting us know. Try to rest it will be a long night.

My computer conection is acting so if I can't get back on tonight don't worry.

Gretchen, That is terrible! Lots of prayers for Jessica.:flower3:

Hope all of you come through this weather with no major problems!:grouphug:

I'm officially pathetic. :lmao: Kathy, you said you'd help me after Mardi Gras, right?? :upsidedow

WFD - Blackened frozen pizza. :headache:

I was like "but I cooked it LESS than it said!" Then I realized I also cooked it at 100 degrees hotter than it said. :rolleyes1 Oops. :rotfl2:

Kathy help Bethany out before she burns down the city. :scared:

Bethany No more blackened pizza. More matter how humgry you are don't try to cook it faster.

I am signing off I need to go watch Charlie Brown Valentine special.

I wasn't TRYING to get it faster! I just totally biffed on the temperature!! You KNOW 325 and 425 look mighty similar. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Gretchen -- Prayers for Jessica.

Lauren -- Take it easy.

Lauri -- I think we can all agree that we are sick of winter.

Marilyn -- You were right about the wind...it is howling.

I don't have many details, but Greg is having surgery tomorrow. He is having a lump removed from his neck. I don't think it is anything serious, but he does need general anesthesia. If you could spare a thought or prayer I would appreciate it!

Oh Gretchen, lots of prayers coming your way. Please keep us posted.

Bethany- I cooked a meatloaf the other day 50 degrees higher than I should have for no reason at all. I don't know where my head was when I set the temperature. Fortunately it came out OK, just firmer than usual.

Thanks for all of your kind words about my parents. It really is more their loss but it does make me sad for what Zachy is missing too. I'm planning on starting to take him to visit at a senior center and hope that he can develop a relationship with some of the people there. At the very least we'll spread some cheer.

Bethany -:rotfl2: I'll do my best sweetie!

Laura - Of course I will keep Greg in my prayers, please update when you can.

I'm sorry this is such a quickie/shoddy post, but I'm having a horrible day. I ask that you all please pray for Jessica. She is one of Hailey's therapists and she is currently in surgery. She had a car accident this morning and was carried to the hospital by helicopter. She has a broken jaw, several deep facial lacerations (which they hope don't have much nerve damage), and a crushed right upper arm. The jaw is supposed to be a clean break and they think they can wire it together. And they are putting a rod in her arm too. They don't expect her to be out of surgery until sometime between 7 and 9 tonight. I'm sitting here in my office, but I swear I didn't want to leave that waiting room until I knew she was ok. I may just leave and go back, I'm not really thinking very clearly anyway.

Oh that's awful. Prayers for her and those who love her. Keep us posted.

I hope it all goes okay - he'll be in my prayers. Update us when you can.

I ate mostly normal foods today - my colleague snuck in Mickey D's for lunch and it went down okay. Slow and steady. I have a huge appetite but eating is a little uncomfortable so I don't overdo it at least. Maybe I'll drop some weight once my swelling goes down :confused3

Plan is to go home Fri when DH gets off work. I could probably go home tomorrow but I'd be stuck home alone on Fri and my dogs are a little high maintenance so we decided it was best for me to stay. Doctor is more on the cautious side and wants me on full food for a few days anyways to make sure things are okay. I figure I met my deductible and it's 100% from here on out so why not stay :confused3

:rotfl: Umm, Kathy, Sheryl - quick - save this girl, please!

Aimee - stay the extra days and get all the rest you can. Glad to hear junk food is being sucessfully consumed :goodvibes

Aimee - I agree with Lauri, get all the rest you can get now.

Laura - Praying for Greg.

Gretchen - How is Jessica doing today, continued prayers for her.

WFD - Takeout of some kind while we wind up the packing. I'll try and pop back in this evening but in case I can't I'll talk to y'all when I get back next week.

Laura, prayers for Greg.

Michelle, I am very lucky with my parents but my ILs are a whole other story. My ILs have never met my children or me for that matter. Some people are strange and I just can't understand it. :grouphug: I totally understand how you feel.

Good Morning.

Kat and Sheryl have a great trip!

Prayers continue for Jessica and Greg.

Ann, that recipe looks really good!

Michelle, that is sad about your parents...I always heard my Mom when I was younger about the seen and not heard but I guess growing up with 7 loud mouthed kids kicked that out the window.

UGH, I just got a call from Tom that an exterminator is coming here for a quote between 10 and 2...I have to shower and go pick up Riley before that...gotta jump in the shower. Why do men do things last minute??? BBL

Dinner will be left over beef and cheese enchilada. It was so good but I didnt use a recipe so it probably will never be that good again! :goodvibes

Thanks for the prayers...I don't have any news to report yet, but I will update when I do.

Kathy and Sheryl -- Have fun!!

Aimee -- I think you are smart to stay the extra day. I know you probably can't wait to get out of the hospital and back to your own home, but staying forces you to rest and that is what you need.

Michelle -- Your idea of taking Zachy to a senior center is so sweet. They will love him!

Ann -- Every time you tell that story about your ILs, I just shake my head. The way some people act is so sad.

Lauren -- I'm sorry your day got messed up. Good luck with the quote.

Nancy -- Did Kady get her snow?

We really didn't get much. There might be two or three inches, but no more than that. That's fine with me.

Dinner was originally going to be roast chicken, but I'm not in the mood for that tonight. I haven't figured out the alternative yet. BBL.
