The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Dinner is moroccan spiced pork chops, couscous and green beans. Are you seeing a theme here? Yup your right I need to get to the grocery store. :rotfl2:

Lorelei How are you making the thai burgers?

Kathy- I'm so glad the doctor doesn't think its anything major. Please keep us posted.

Nancy- We leave tomorrow at 4am:eek: Which means I really need to get myself off the computer and to bed. I had Mike come home an hour earlier and we ate dinner an hour earlier and basically fooled Zachy into thinking it was bedtime an hour earlier than normal so that he gets a decent amount of sleep despite the early wake up call.

I'll try to pop on over the next few days but I hope everyone has a great week! Thank you so much for including me in your group, I really look forward to coming on and chatting with all of you every day:grouphug:

Kat, hopefully just a MVP......You will just need antibiotics before any dental work.
Is your blood pressure very low since the gym & weight loss? Prayers for Monday.

Wendy, enjoy your wine. Have one for me.
Glad Ross is better, what a week!

Janice, dinner sounds yummy!

I didn't eat since the temp. fell out. The pain is pretty bad.

I hope that you see my "Safe Travels" before you go. Have a wonderful time and know that I look forward to hearing about your trip!

Oh Maria  You have not had an easy time here. Are the pain meds not helping?

DInner was some of the pasta dish from the other night and poached eggs. For me. Buddy skipped dinner. So let me tell you why.

Do you all remember that he asked me if I "needed that cookie"and haas taken credit for my weight loss....you know.....because he asked me about the cookie??????? Well he had to go to teh Dr for a BP check, this is a new Dr. Our GP left to have a baby. Anyway, he asked me to come to "talk" to him. So we got tag teamed and the Drm who is a short portly guy, told my poor stunned Buddy that he was "grossly obese", borderline "morbidly obese" :scared1: Now in fairness to my DH, he is not fat. He has a little layer...winter insulation... but he is nowhere near chubby even. He is huge though. The Dr is not taking his bone structure and muscle mass into account but we are not telling him that...not yet :rotfl2: The Dr told him he was 50 pounds overweight and the poor guy almost passed out! So then the Dr told him to lose 20 pounds in six months. So now Buddy could not eat dinner..... :lmao:

I had to explain to him that he will not lose weight by not eating and that I will add more of my WW core foods for him.....:rotfl::rotfl:but for tonight he was passing up food. We have all been teasing him pretty hard...no more 6 big Macs, no more real ice cream....he can eat like me :woohoo:

Thanks to all for the good thoughts and prayers.:grouphug: I have to have an EKG on Monday morning and will be getting a heart monitor. My doc said that since I was able to do my normal gym workout all this week with no problems he doesn't think it's anything major.

Glad you are getting it checked out :goodvibes

I'm so sorry

:rotfl: Pitiful Buddy! :rotfl:

Michelle - have a great trip! :cool1:

My employee's mother passed tonight while I was at dinner. She has been in so much pain, and was in her 90s. She lived a rich and full life and is in a happier place. I was able to cover everything and still see the show. At intermission, my kids spotted me and came running over to chat. I have missed them! :goodvibes They did a GREAT job.

Kat, glad you are getting checked too...

Nancy, I think Buddy's Dr. must be related to mine. Nice bedside manner...but I am definitely more fluffy than Buddy. I have never thought of him as even chubby in any of your pics. Poor guy.

Aimee, sympathies to your employee for their loss.

We are getting snow today...lazy tired day. Those of you on FB will notice we got no sleep here last night.

I will figure out dinner when DH gets home.

Kat - so glad you went to the Dr. , what you know is always better than what you don't know (sounds like a Dr. Philism)

Becky Going to Whole Foods today and will see if they carry the laptop lunch boxes

Good morning!

I just wanted to check in. I've read most of the posts but I did not keep up enough to reply to them all. I'll try to skim through later and reply. I woke up later than expected (I was out until midnight last night :rolleyes1) but there are errands I want to get done and out of the way this morning.

Okay so the earthquake that hit Haiti was 7.0. Chile had an 8.8 quake this morning! :scared1: There is a tsunami on it's way to Hawaii now. A 131-foot tsunami hit the islands (Juan Fernandez) near Chile earlier. They expect the tsunami to reach Hawaii a little after 11am their time. This in insane!

:grouphug: to everybody!

Michelle – I hope y’all have a great time!

Maria – I am so sorry you are in pain again, wish I could help you somehow. My BP has always been on the low side of normal and remains the same now.

Nan – I am stunned by what the doctor told Buddy! Poor man couldn’t even eat dinner.:sad2:

WFD - Coq au Vin, egg noodles and creamed spinach.

Poor Buddy!

Poor Buddy nothin'! He has never had weight issues, his immediate family has never had weight issues so he never really got how hard it is to eat adn not gain weight. He used to eat 1/2 gallon of ice cream a night. He can wolf down 6 big macs for adinner and finish up the $1 sandwiches that do not get eaten. He cannot go to dinner and not ask what is the biggest steak....all the time thinking it will not catch up with him. We are all going to enjoy this a little bit....while he is eating his oatmeal and cranberries  I will sympathize soon, I promise :thumbsup2

.

:lmao::lmao: Buddy asked Marisa idf there were any other words to describe him besides borderline morbidly obese. She told him it goes from "Ewe's fluffy" to "Oh Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!!" :rotfl2:

I saw that you were up all night. I don't know who to feel worse for, you or little Emma

When I worked I always brought my lunch. I thought I was pretty cool with my little plastic container that held three different things. My coworkers always were jealous of that little plate thing. If you can get that bento box you are going to be one of the cool kids! :rotfl2:

My mind just cannot process this kind of catastrophe. I try but seeing the maps and where the destruction hit and where it may go............Well it is incredibly humbling. :sad1:

Some friends of mine from another thread are in Hawaii right now.:guilty:

Nan - OK, we'll enjoy Buddy's "dieting" for a while!

Kat, prayers for your friends.
These tragedies are just overwhelming.

Nan, poor Buddy.

I'm going for a physical next month & I know I'm going to her the weight issue. I'm dreading that visit.

Heading to the gym....but just wanted to say I am so sad for the people of Chili....and very worried for Hawaii. I just spoke to one of my best friends who lives there, and she said it should hit in the next few hours, but they are NOT evacutaing homes as of yet, just the beaches and low lying areas. She said everyone is very calm due to the fact they know it is on its way, so they can "prepare" as best as possible. I pray it is not destructive....I pray all are safe. :(

Prayers for Chili & Hawaii.

--------
WFD- boneless chicken (not sure how yet), yellow rice, roasted asparagus, and peas.

We are getting snow today...lazy tired day. Those of you on FB will notice we got no sleep here last night.

I will figure out dinner when DH gets home.

I hope you and that sweet girl get a nap today

I'm so thankful we have Tsunami warnings like that - Hawaii is prepared for such things and seem to be taking the right precautions. I hope there is not too much damage.

The damage in Chile is so much less than Haiti because they are prepared for earthquakes and their buildings can sustain them. Haiti couldn't :sad1: Of course lives are already lost but it doesn't seem it will be the huge numbers or the longterm damage like in Haiti.

Such a sad thing to wake up and see.

I am mostly resting today - I admit I have overdone it this week in my physical activity. I do want to hit the grocery store and plan some meals but that is fun for me :goodvibes I will take DH with me to help load the bags and such. Dinner is TBA!

I hope you and that sweet girl get a nap today

Thanks Aimee...she fell asleep about 20 minutes. Long enough for a shower. She is fussy again. I just did Baby Oragel & some motrin. Cuddling now...just not her, she is a great baby.

Kathy -- I'm glad the doctor doesn't think it is anything serious. Good luck Monday!

Wendie -- I'm glad Ross is feeling better.

Nancy -- You are just killing me with the Buddy stories! :lmao:

Aimee -- I'm glad you got to see the show. I am sorry about your employee's loss.

Joanne -- I laughed about your son's comment. Liam takes everything literally as well...I am sorry to hear that probably won't be changing any time soon.

Kathy -- I hope your friends and everyone else in Hawaii right now stay safe. I think my SIL just came home from vacationing there. I guess I better head over to FB to see if she is around.

Maria -- I hope you are doing better today.

Ann -- Your poor little girl. I hope she gets some relief soon.

I'm making cashew chicken for dinner tonight.

Got info on our friends in Hawaii, they are completely packed and are waiting in a Walmart parking lot in Kona to be evacuated. They were supposed to fly out tomorrow and have been arguing with American Airlines to see if they can get a flight out today.

I had read that the Hilo airport is closed right now because it's along the coast but I'm not sure whether they are flying from Kona or Hilo.
