The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Ellen -- I'm sure you're right about the preschool germs. I hope you feel better!

Kathy -- Are you feeling better today?

Sheryl -- I loved your Small World story! So cute. I'm glad Miss A is feeling a bit better.

I made them for Alan and he told me that if he wasn't already married to me, he would propose to me all over again just so I would make those for him
 I think she does promise proposals for some of the recipes in her book. Good luck with the banquet tonight! That will be one more thing to check off your list.

Ann -- I'm sorry your daughter is having a tough time with those teeth. I hope they come in quickly. I think you are doing the right thing putting the potty training off. If you are frustrated, it only makes the control issues worse. Ugh...some of the stories from Liam. :headache: I hope you feel less stressed soon.

I'm making linguine and clams for dinner tonight...not for the kiddos of course.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers for Greg. I think he is off on a field training exercise now, so I may not have an update for three weeks.

Nancy, 7 lbs worth of fun?! It don't get no better than dat!!

!

:lmao::lmao: Do you remember when Angelina was 14? 16? Well 20 did not get better for my Kimmie :rotfl2: While Debbie has Gail's personality......Kim has mine and she has had it for a lot longer than I did!!!!!!!So even though Kim really thought that she was a wonderful hostess and tons of fun............she was :dance3:. Gail adn I found ourselves eating pancakes, stuffed crepes, pie, tons of good bread. No Non Fat lattes either! And then there was the wine....for medicinal purposes only!
Now Gail is alone with the two of them and she called to tell me that she missed me! I think it took the two of us to stay sane! I have been laughing all afternoon!

Aimee, Please don't push yourself too hard! Getting back to work is enough for one day! That was one heck of a surgery you had. Are you driving yourself already? That seems to soon! Congrats on the upcoming new little niece!

Yes, I drove for the first time on Tuesday. Doctor just said to not mix driving with pain pills and since I can easily climb in and out of the truck now, and am not taking pain meds, I decided I was okay :thumbsup2

I barely worked 4 hours today and that was enough. I'm not working tomorrow. We'll play next week by ear. I found myself starting to slump over as time went on in the office and finally around 3pm, one of my colleagues told me to GO HOME so I did.

Kathy - I'm so glad you're feeling better today!! :goodvibes

DH and my brother got my new chandelier hung over the weekend! I :lovestruc it.

Laura, Greg remains in my prayers.

Sheryl, the "A" story was the best!!!! She is a ray of sunshine:lovestruc

Janice, I'm worried about you.

Kat, glad your feeling better. Take it easy lady. Kat do they have appetizers at the tequila bar? Did you have anything?

I talked to BFF today in Florida & while we're having snow & sleet they have lizards falling out of the trees from the cold snap:scared1::scared1:

Yikes!

Kathy -- I'm glad you are feeling better. Those appetizers look delicious, even though I am so full after my linguine and clams. I took a picture, but I'll load it tomorrow. Right now, I am waiting for my darling daughter to finish up in the shower. I think my water bill is in trouble. She is only eight, and she would spend an hour in there if I let her.

Aimee -- Beautiful!

Okay, the princess beckons. ;)

Michelle Have a wonderful time in the Bahamas the weather for the tomorrow there is partly cloudy and 70. I scan the papers weather page daily for where it is warm and sunny
Aimee your dining room looks beautiful

Kat, your appetizers look so good ,by the way my sister told me People mag reported Elin Woods had Valentine's Day dinner at Blue Zoo

wfd ham steaks, baked potato and broccoli,,borrring
I am inspired to try something new and different this weekend, I'm thinking a potato wrapped fish I know can't separate the Irish and their potatoes

Have a good night all, Off to watch the Olympics, I'm going to miss them when they are over

Becky- I've been to the Bahamas before but never to Abacos although I also would love to some day. I love to get off the beaten path when possible. With that said we're getting as commercial as possible in the caribbean this time because we're going to Atlantis at Paradise Island. I've been there before and its an amazing trip in its own right but there's nothing about it that's remotely "Bahamian," because you could be anywhere. But I know as a family with a little one we'll have a blast there. Which islands have you been to?

Joanne- I always scan the weather all of the world too! We're slightly disappointed that its not going to be a little warmer while we're there but I'll take 70s over our week-long snow/rain/sleet disgusting mess.

Kathy- I am SO checking that out in September, those appetizers look amazing.

Aimee- gorgeous!

Maria- I almost think I would rather have snow than risk a lizard falling on my head:eek:

Ann- Sorry about the rough day. I'm a big believer that kids will train when they're ready and that it shouldn't be stressful for everyone. I have a friend whose son is the same age as Zachy and her son has always done everything on the early side of normal and Z on the later side. Crawl, eat, walk, talk, etc. Except that Z potty trained very early. She cannot get over it and keeps forcing her poor boy to train and he's not ready and so incredibly miserable. The last time I was over there she literally was following him around with potty chair. Every time he moved a few feet she would move the chair behind him. It reminded me of the old silent movies and would have been funny if it wasn't for the little boy in tears because he just couldn't do what his mother wanted him to do.

Ellen- feel better.

Sheryl- I love crispy chicken skin but I try to just not think about what's actually in it.

Becky - I pm'd you!!!!!!:goodvibes

Saw it! If I forget to respond remind me! My books are on a different floor than my computer. I am going to check after this.

Becky, I am so sorry!! When I read what I posted my reply sounds so snotty. I sure did not mean for it to sound that way at all.

You did not sound snotty! As many people on this thread know, I am a little scatterbrained :upsidedow Sometimes I need to be reminded that people ask me for stuff. So, I tasted the soup, but without the mascarpone crouton. It's really nice. I did make his homemade chicken stock recipe as a base, would you like that recipe also? I will type in the recipe tomorrow morning.

Which islands have you been to?.

None in the Bahamas yet. We go back to the same island every time in the USVIs. It's hard to think of going someplace else, though I am trying to branch out (maybe). I can see why you are going to Atlantis with Zach...they have really cool amenities for kids! I'd like to see their aquarium...it looks really impressive. Let us all know how you liked it with your little one along.

OK, food photos.

Becky- we actually were there last year too so we know its definitely the place to go with kids. We also went there on our honeymoon 11 (yikes) years ago and its a great adult venue too in terms of fine dining and nightlife. Just not too much local flavor although I made Mike swear that we would venture off the property more this time. We also get in cycles of going to the same places and I want to try some new things in the next few years.

We have reservations at Nobu (new to us) and Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill (wonderful repeat from last year). In conjunction with those we also have reservations for the babysitting service:cool1: I'll try to get some good food pictures and I'm sure I'll be checking in since Mike does do some work on vacation :confused3 so we always are connected.

Dinner last night was a 3 bean and vegetable chili. Tonight will probably be egss, chicken sausage, hash browns, toast and bananas. I have so many ripe bananas because Z insisted on filling a bag at the store this week. I will freeze the rest for smoothies.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning! Quick fly by. School is off again today and its still snowing. Boy, will Andrew have fun shoveling! :rotfl: We got to get it done since we are having company tomorrow.

I hope everyone is feeling better...

Not too sure about dinner. I am cooking and cleaning today so maybe take out. Andrew was asking for Chinese food but they do not deliver so if I get shoveled out, I may go and get it.

Have a great day all!

Oh how I wish I could be there tomorrow, I'll be thinking of your boys.

WFD - I think Kyle is coming in this afternoon so we'll take him out to dinner.

Aimee ~ love the new chandelier. It is so pretty. I am SO glad you are feeling good. PTL!!

Becky ~ thanks so much. Yes I would love both recipes please when you have time.

Kat ~ I am so glad you are feeling better. Will Kyle be home for spring break or is he doing something fun?

Marilyn ~ I am worried about you, they say another possible 3' of snow. Oh my sweetie you have really been dumped on. Please stay safe!!

Laura ~ I hear you on the showers. Just wait, it gets worse!! :rotfl2: When Elizabeth and Stephanie were in HS the would take 2 showers a day and never use the same towel twice. Now Matthew was a whole different ball game...just saying. :rolleyes1

Lauren ~ it is so good to see you. I have been worried about you. Take care my friend.

Joanne ~ I am so loving watching the Olympics also. Lat night the ladies figure skating was beautiful. The best I have ever seen.

Michelle ~ I love the Bahamas. Never been to Atlantis though, but it is on my list. I think I would just like Doug and I to go. We take the kids to WDW - Atlantis would be just for us. ;)

Maria ~ how are you feeling today? I have been told that my sinus issues are a throw back from my tooth problems. HUM..... I guess it does make sence.
I think I will take the snow over the Lizards. I would NOT like that.

Well the sun is shining for the 3rd day today. Woohoo!!! No wind and it is cold - 14 degrees right now, but should get up to around 30 later. The weatherman yesterday said that we have had snow on the ground since October 24th. Wow, that just blew my mind. But what a beautiful spring we will have because of it.

I have been working on my income taxes all week. I have to get it together before tomorrow, as we have an appointment at 10:00 a.m. to get it figured. I have been looking all week for a document - do you think I can find it - NOPE!!!! And I really need it. Called this morning to have them fax it to me. So hopefully that will be ok until I can find the originals. I will be so glad when tomorrow at 11:00 comes. I hate getting my taxes figured.

WFDT ~ Jambalaya with sweet Itiaian sausage and chocolate cake - I will post this later today - it was awsome - you gotta try it.

Make it a great day my friends

Well, the banquet is over and it went well!!! The food was yummy, the games were fun, and everyone had a great time!

Now it's over and I can relax until April. Of course, I still have schoolwork. Blah!

Not sure what we're having for dinner tonight. The small kids have their play at 6:00, so I've got to plan around that. I was hoping for an evening out with Alan, but Katie is playing the teen attitude card, and I'm not sure I want to deal with that. I'll post later when we've decided for sure!
