The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Forgot to mention we're watching movies this weekend. We watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua last night and I LOVED it, well anything with dogs in it is right up my alley.:goodvibes Tonight we're going to watch Slumdog Millionaire and tomorrow Marley & Me!

I had no idea you were such a dog fan! I need a dog-flick night myself.

For dinner I had Mac and Cheese. Not homemade.... Too many things on the plate right now! I'll cook tomorrow and share if it turns out.

Good Morning! Quick fly by...we are going to my friend's 50th birthday at the Chart House. I am excited that it is a gorgeous day for a amazing view of the NYC skyline!!! Will take pics...

Aimee, I have bought the untrimmed roast and it is pretty easy to trim up...make sure to use a very sharp knife and get the fat and silvery looking membrane thing off (sorry don't know the real technical terms). If you think it will be hard, just buy the trimmed one.

Dinner will be something quick. Maybe pasta, salad and bread.

Have a great day all!

Hey all! If you saw my fb status yesterday you know that we decided to make an impromptu trip to memphis .Dh got me my iphone yesterday so I've been pretty obsessed with it since then . Dinner last night was at a wing joint we love. Today we're headed to the zoo. have a good Sunday

 Hugs to all my friends who need them right now.

WFD? Probably going to Chili's.

WFD- Who knows I need to get over to the grocery store because I have nothing in the house!!!!

I am not one to right trip reports. I will try to write up a brief report just for WFD. It will not be very exciting due to park crowds, a tired pregnant Mom, and a couple of meals off property. I am very sad it is over and back to reality tomorrow for my DH at work. Luke is going to have some serious dad withdrawals.

Beautiful day for the Chart House Lauren!!!!!! Have a great time x

DM & I are headed into NYC, have no idea where we'll end up. Maybe Central Park or the Met.
Enjoy the beautiful weather everyone.

Dinner last night was cheddar cheese popcorn:thumbsup2
Greg & his college buddy were out doing "guy things".

Okay all you NYC-area WFDers....Maria and I were talking about the idea of meeting up one Saturday in late April or late May. Early June could also work for me. We could do something in the city or the Botanic Gardens in the Bronx. What do you think?

I don't know what is for dinner. I never do. :rotfl:

The party tonight was great, but I am not feeling well. I expected my medication to kick in sooner. :sad1: Tomorrow is C-R-A-Z-Y and between my work obligations, I need to check in on my granddaddy. He had another bad day... :sad1:

I hope your meds have kicked in and you can check in on grandaddy.

I LOVE dogs of any size or shape! I've missed you around here. Has scotlass checked in on the Universal thread? I know she's having some issues but we really miss her here.

 for you too. How are you?

We don't need exciting! Anything you can tell us about a place we all love will be wonderful!:woohoo:

You surely deserve a day out, enjoy!:goodvibes

WFD - Slow roasted garlic chicken, baked pasta with basil and parmesan and smothered collard & turnip greens.

Still thinking about Angelina

Have fun! I love the warm winter cake, it is a favorite here.
have you posted the chicken curry?

Dinner is soft tacos and cut melon. The fussy man who claims to eat anything but lover and asparagus is having 1/2 tuna grinder. He ate 1 1/2 last night so I cannot imagine that he won't still be hungry :confused3:confused3

Kady has declared that she likes the tacos :thumbsup2

The chicken curry is very easy!

Place 6 chicken thighs (or breasts) in a slow cooker. In a bowl, combine a jar of salsa, 2 Tbsp. curry powder and one medium chopped onion. Pour over the chicken and turn onto low for 6-7 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Half an hour before serving, either remove chicken and keep warm, or shred in the crock pot. Add 1 cup sour cream to sauce. Heat for 30 minutes or until warmed through. If you removed the chicken, replace it and let it heat through in the sauce.

This is good on it's own, over brown rice, or as a filling for stuffed peppers (my niece found this out). Yummy! And it makes your house smell incredible!!!

Last night was really fun! We watched Bedtime Stories and the Lake House. We laughed, visited, etc. Really fun!

Dinner tonight will be a beef brisket with homemade barbecue sauce. Mashed potatoes and green beans for the sides. Leftover cake for dessert.

Kathy I havn't forgot Today I am trying out that lemon recipe for you.:thumbsup2

Tonight is short ribs mashed potatoes and a salad

I have to get to the store for Easter stuff. Where does the time go :confused3

Yesterday I got almost 5 inches chopped of my hair and it is still past my shoulders. I guess I will never have to worry about going bald. I feel so light headed.:rotfl:

I saw a post from her yesterday. I don't remember what thread it was. I think the post was from Friday.

I have been SO LAZY this weekend. I need to take care of stuff. I work long days Monday and Tuesday then leave right after work on Wednesday so stuff needs to get done TODAY. :headache:

At least I remembered not to drink regular coffee today, so I'm not sick! :cool1: There's only a couple of kinds of coffee I can drink without feeling like my stomach is being torn to shreds. (And yes, Aimee...McDonald's coffee is usually okay....in small amounts.)

Lunch after shopping was McD's for the men and I had a frozen pizza. So dinner is going to be light.

WFD- Caesar salads with boneless chicken done on the grill, and some marinated mushrooms.

OK you guys, I put the chicken in a wet brine (equal parts sugar and salt dissolved in water) Friday. I am going to roast it tonight. Do I rinse the wet brine off of it? And what would you suggest I season it with. Or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks so much Janice, can't wait to hear how they come out!

WOW, 5 inches, you must feel like a new woman!:goodvibes

Got my side dishes done, gotta get to the entree.......:stir:

Got a call from my realtor a few minutes ago, if the inspection this week goes smoothly the loan officer for the buyer has requested an earlier closing. :yay:

Yes, rinse it very well! I'm seasoning mine simply tonight, salt, pepper & minced garlic, under the skin too. I'm throwing an onion and a lemon in the cavity as well.

I got about 5 inches cut off when I was in Baton Rouge. Felt SOOO good!

Kathy...I hope this one goes through. They sound SERIOUS! :cool1:
I am ready to be done with the housing issue myself and I barely just started. :headache:

How do you make the baked pasta?

I often have issues with coffee, too.

I have a work dinner tonight, thankfully I'm cohosting at a colleague's home and he's a fantastic cook. Looking forward to it! :thumbsup2

Thank you SO much! That is a huge help! One more thing. Do you put butter or oil or anything on it?
