The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

Looks like lucas is going three times in the next three months!

Well, I'm thrilled to have these trips planned for WDW (and going home to NOLA, too)! And, for the first time ever, we are getting WDW annual passes! But the honest truth is since our doggie is no longer here I need something to occupy my mind and my time. It's just the 2 of us, so off to Disney World we go! Lots of schedules and planning to keep me busy! The April trip is for my birthday and then we're going for long weekends over Memorial Day and 4th of July.

I'm jealous of lucky lucas too, I'm hoping I can hook up with her one of these days when she's down here. We met briefly trip before last in WDW and she's such a sweetie.:goodvibes

That was fun, meeting in front of France! :goodvibes

We shoulda took pics!!

Sorry if I rambled on and please forgive my awful spelling which has gotten worse with pregnancy.

I read every word and enjoyed it! Thanks for posting!

Parks were sooooo crowded, they are making money...CM layoffs or not!

Sadly, too many people are taking budget trips or are more local. My mom has lost some good friends in the last week :sad1: She is really discouraged.

That new albuterol stuff is crap. :headache: The Seven Dwarfs on ProAir would be singing "Just whistle while you breathe, do do do do do do do"...:rolleyes1

Amen, sister! I cannot find an inhaler that will work as well as my good ol' Albuterol. I miss it :guilty:

Aimee, the baked pasta dish is a big hit here and super easy! Here it is:

*drool*

So you were impressed with POFQ, does that mean you'll be staying there? Never mind don't answer that, we love watching As the Resort Turns...:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Awwww....I bet you'd rather have the dog than the three WDW trips.

I'm just jealous of the trips because I probably can't go back until 2011 or 2012. :scared:

Good morning. I can't believe I'm the first one here today.

But you go to NOLA more than I do and my family lives there!
Have a good time! I'm going in May for a whole week and can't wait for some great food. :woohoo: This trip home I might try a few places that were on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Good Morning!

Hope everyone is well. I don't think I am ever going to get caught up on this thread. We had a great time yesterday, got home and was too tired to DIS...today I have my Monday catch up to do.

Tonight we are having the free turkey breast I recd from the grocery store...stuffing, potatoes and a veggie...not sure what veggies I have.

I am starting to watch what I eat today. Been overeating sweets. Was never a sweet eater like this. Probably was catching up for lost time from the pregnancy.

ANN, glad you had a nice trip!

I will try and get back on later. Today may be a good day since we are not going anywhere.

Thank you everyone for reading! We did have fun.

Bethany, my head would be spinning if I were making the move decisions you are right now.

Aimee, so sad about all the CM layoffs. Economy is impacting everyone all over. It must be hard for your DM to watch.

Kathy, I wish you let me know. I would have picked up what you wanted.

WFD- heading over to my parents tonight for dinner and a visit. They are missing my little guy.

Morning everyone, hope you all had a great weekend.

Laura- I hope you enjoyed your birthday!

Ann- Fort Wilderness is my favorite place, that is where we stay. My parents are there Jan-March (they just got home) and we usually tag along for a couple of weeks. We can walk to trails end and get our coffee, or over to wilderness lodge for a nice walk. I was hoping you had a good time because my mom said the weather wasn't the best. I can't wait to try out the new pool next time we go.

Aimee- My dad works part-time at Disney, he said they really upped castmember discounts this year and lots of other little changes. He hardly worked at all this year, which if fine because he does it for fun and didn't want to take the hours away from the people that needed them. Sorry for you mom's friends.

I'm not sure what's for dinner, I'm just guessing chicken of some type.

I kinda figured that.

Any Regis & Kelly fans here? I normally don't watch it as it airs opposite Rachel Ray's show BUT they're in NOLA this week! I submitted my name for the lottery giveaway of tickets but wasn't one of the lucky ones.

WFD - Red beans & rice and grilled jalapeno chicken sausages.

Good morning everyone!

I've read through and caught up, but my memory isn't what it used to be, so please forgive me if I miss someone.

Laura - So sorry I missed your birthday! I was already in the no computer zone by the time you posted.

Ann - Glad you had a good time. Thanks for the trip report. We are thinking about trying the Pizzaria Uno on our next trip and haven't heard of the Ale House, so I'll mark that one down as a possibility too.

Kat - I don't know how you find time to keep up with all of us, but I'm so glad you do. I hope Wendie is at least reading and waiting until she's ready. I've missed her very much.

Becky - I hope you are better today. I'm sorry I when I thought you had been sicker longer, but honestly, my days are kind of running together right now and each day seems to feel like longer. I know that doesn't make much sense, but anyway, I hope you are better today.

Maria - I'd love to see your photos of the orchids, they are my favorite flower.

Sheryl - I hope your daughter is doing well today, she continues to be in my prayers.

Lauren - Are they able to manage Charles's pain any better? I've been thinking of you this weekend and praying for him and your family as well.

Aimee - I'm sorry about your grandfather. I know that is a stressful situation and I hope you are able to get some relief for all of you soon.

I have no idea what we are having for dinner. I have a mountain of laundry that I was not able to take care of this weekend and I am just too tired to do that and make dinner. I know Kenny is sick of grabbing whatever we can, but I just am not feeling it right now.

This morning is Dad's PET scan and we hope to get the test read today and maybe have some results. If not, I'll be on the phone with the doctor's office tomorrow morning. Dad had a really hard weekend as the news has finally made it through our small town. The phone rang off the hook and his friends dropped by to see him. Last night, he was just emotionally spent.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and thoughts and for your prayers. I know I have the support of each of you and it means a great deal to me now.

Good morning! I did read back, but I forgot to multiquote. Thanks again for all the birthday greetings. We did have a good weekend, and last night the neighborhood children were kind enough to eat all of the leftover cake, so I am not stuck eating it!

Ann -- Thanks for the trip report. I enjoyed reading it, and I am glad you had a good time.

Aimee -- I'm sorry to hear about the CMs.

From here it doesn't seem like Disney is hurting for business. Becky had her husband convinced on Saturday to take us all to Disney for a long weekend over April vacation, but all the flights were sold out.

Caili has skating tonight. I have a refrigerator full of leftovers, so that will be my dinner. I'm not sure about the kids.

ETA: Gretchen, I hope your dad gets some results today and some rest.

I want to thank you all so much for your help with the chicken I made. It turned out super moist and nicely seasoned. You all get the credit! :)
Great group of people here.

I'm on my phone and can't multi-quote so pop quiz for the memory!

JC2- I can't take any of that credit because I can't cook, but stick around! I think I like you already!

Ummm I think it was Ann who said her head would be spinning if making these kinds of decisions. Mine totally is! It does not help that people are telling me I'm stupid and that it will never work out.

Kathy- I see all is well with the world again. ;) Red beans and rice on Monday. Still have never had them...

Morning Friends!

I finally had time this morning to read back. Saturday after bringing Angelina food we went run errands. Unfortunately errands took 2 days, looking for a battery for my rechargeable drill. Couldn't find the battery & then when we did, it cost as much as a new drill. So we went on Sunday & bought a new drill. All that just to drill a whole in those new lighter fiberglass? pots to plant some hibiscus. :upsidedow

Angelina is doing well, her pain is mostly just at the incision site. She's had a little back pain & leg pain which upset her, even though she knows it's too soon to expect relief.

Gretchen, Prayers are ongoing for your Dad. I hope y'all get the test results soon & he gets some quiet and rest.

Lauren, Also praying for Charles & your family.

Kat, I've never adjusted from Regis & Kathie Lee to Regis & Kelly. Kelly bugs me. :confused3

Ann, I enjoyed your trip report! I'm glad the trip went so well! :goodvibes

JC2, I'm happy your chicken turned out yummy!

I know I'm forgetting a couple of things, read thru 5 pages... Oh I can't remember.

I'm cooking pot roast per DD's request. I've have to check & see if she wants rice or mashed potatoes with that.

Have a good day everyone!

Kat - I don't know how you find time to keep up with all of us, but I'm so glad you do. I hope Wendie is at least reading and waiting until she's ready. I've missed her very much.

I heard from Wendie yesterday. Poor girl has SO much going on. Her Dad has stage 3 colon cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes and will be having 6 months of chemo. Yesterday was her Mom's birthday.:sad1:She feels like it would be impossible to just jump back in and figure out what's going in with us. I told her we don't expect her to know what's going on with us, we just want her to come back home so that we can comfort her.:grouphug:

I'm keeping your dad in my thoughts and prayers this morning, please let us know how it goes today.

Great group of people here.

:yay: Stick around!!!

Kathy -- Thanks for the update on Wendie. Please keep letting her know that she is missed, and she can come back any time. I understand why she may not want to jump in right now because of all that is going on in her life, but I think of her and her family often and I hope she will return when things turn around. Prayers said that is soon...she has been through so much.

Sheryl -- I'm glad Angelina is doing well. I wish her a quick and complete recovery.

Yep, it is a whole new world not having to take care of her needs 24/7. And no worries about petsitters. THAT is actually a relief! But, man, the house is quiet.

Last time Regis & Kelly were in NOLA, I signed my mom & dad up and they got tickets! Wish I had known about it this time.

These are the NOLA places that were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Have you ever heard of them?

Joey K’s , 3001 Magazine
Creole Creamery, 4924 Prytania
Surry’s Café, 1418 Magazine

Also, have any NOLA gals heard of Back to the Garden? They used to be downtown and we would walk there for lunch from the LSUMC. I think they moved but I'm not sure where. I loved that place. :)

I've been telling Johnny that when Sammie leaves us there will be no more. The thought of not having to worry about a pet sitter is relieving, ahem, remember the vodka drinking sitter I had......:rotfl2:

I saw all three of those places on Triple D and had never heard of any of them. I've got Joey K's on my short list.;)

I didn't realize your dad worked there, too. I was shocked to see stores running sales - like 25% off stuffed animals - when I was at WDW in Jan. Crazy!!

Poor Wendie.

Today is the first day of Holy Week and things are already crazy busy! I am not sure about dinner :confused3
