The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

:yay: Congratulations to you and your whole family. Welcome little Vincent Joseph!

Grr...this made me so mad! I had some serious complications after Liam was born, and never produced a drop of milk. I met with a lactation consultant, took herbal supplements, tried pumping...nothing worked. Thanks to the anti-formula campaign, I felt like a failure at the time, but I think Liam has done okay. Every mom has to figure out what is right for her and her child.

Sheryl -- It sounds like you made the right decision. Keeping your sanity is better than a second opinion. I hope you find an aide soon!

Laura - you are so right! Every mother should have the right to make her own decision and not be made to feel inferior, no matter what she decides. As long as the baby is thriving, it's all good!

Sheryl -I don't blame you for your decision after what happened with Angelina. As long as you are comfortable and confident that's all that matters.

Thanks y'all! I read your comments & then felt "safe" enough to call my Mom to tell her about it. She didn't fuss at me either!! :goodvibes

Y'all are such good friends!:grouphug:

Baby Vincent Joseph has arrived! :cloud9: He is 7 pounds.

Robin. I'm sorry that I missed your post about the new job possibility. Best wishes that you get the position!

Oh, wonderful news. God bless them all!

Sheryl you need to reschedule your appointment, you know that:hug:

Scotlass, feel better soon.

Lyndsay you remain in my prayers.

Glynis, no injuries in an accident like that is amazing.

Ann do you leave Saturday?

I have NO reason to no longer be a2 or 4!!! Those days will never be seen again:eek:

Prove it.......we need a new updated pic.
:thumbsup2

Right after Timothy was born, Alan did a story for the news on one of the local hospitals.
The nurse looked at Alan and said, "your wife is lying to you. She makes plenty of milk." At that, Alan turned off his camera, basically told her off, and left without completing the story. He was so angry. He called me to tell me this, and said, if this had been Katie at the hospital, she would have died!

:mad:This kind of thing makes me furious!

I hope I'm not going to get fussed by all of you.... .
No fussing from me. I hope that Angelina feels better, she was in enough pain before, I hate to hear she had more yesterday.

This is what I fixed for dinner, it's in the oven now. I used leftover chicken breast & added leeks, pine nuts & feta cheese. I left out the egg too. I'm cooking them in chicken broth & roasted diced tomatoes. We'll see how it comes out.

Swiss Chard Rolls Stuffed with Turkey and Wild Rice

Here's a great way to use leftover turkey or chicken and wild rice. Enlist help from the kids for rolling up the leaves.

Ingredients
2 eggs
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Salt
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
2 cups cooked wild rice or white rice pilaf
2 cups chopped cooked white and dark turkey or chicken
2 bunches Swiss chard, trimmed

Method
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, garlic, pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt and parsley. Stir in rice pilaf and turkey. Set filling aside.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. If any Swiss chard leaves are longer than 12 inches, cut them in half crosswise. Flatten out any large stalks with a fork to allow for even blanching and easier rolling. Immerse 4 to 6 leaves at a time in boiling water and blanch for 1 minute. Transfer to a paper towel-lined baking sheet as done and allow leaves to drain and cool slightly. Arrange 1 leaf on a work surface, smooth side down. Place 3 to 4 tablespoons filling in the center then roll up, starting with the large end of the leaf and folding it over the filling to roll up like a burrito. Repeat process with remaining leaves and filling, placing rolls seam side down in a steamer basket as done. Steam for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the rolls reaches 160°F. Transfer to plates and serve.

Well, should we watch or is this like Richard Hatch nude?:lmao:

I didn't watch back in the RH days so I have no comparison. I was sitting here at the computer reading the Dis and look over at the TV to see blurred parts. :rotfl:

Ooh, yum. Will have to try that!

I was talking to someone at work today and she said her DM made hers with with onions so I am going to try that the next time.

Tonight's dinner was corned beef, cabbage and potatoes that my DM's friend made earlier this week.

Tomorrow night is Drunko! :woohoo:I am making a recipe I got on the Pillsbury website using the crescent roll sheets. It's spinach artichoke squares.

I'll just say that you are better off not watching back in the RH days! :scared1:

That recipe sounds yummy let us know how they turn out!

Yeah, that was when I stopped watching.

The pizza got a big thumbs-up from the kiddos this evening. I guess it has been a while since I made homemade pizza. Liam said, "I thought I recognized that smell, but I couldn't figure out what it was!"

Sheryl, I hope Angelina feels better. No fussing from me either. Only you know how you feel and understand what you and your daughter are going through. You made a decision that you and your husband thought was best based on how you feel, your experiences, etc. I hope that makes sense...I hope and pray that the 5 weeks that you have gotten relief lasts 5++++ more weeks.

My twist on Sausage, Peppers and Onions was a huge hit! What I did was make the sausage, peppers and onions (and 4 cloves of garlic) how I normally would do it on the stove. Then I added a 12 oz jar of Trader Joe's Bruschetta, about 2 tbs of italian seasoning and some other seasoning to taste and about 1 1/2 cups of red wine. I then let it simmer down half covered for about 45 minutes. It was great over pasta (we also made subs since my guys like the sausage that way).

I hope everyone has a great night!!!

Hey ,still not feelin too good but I wanted to pass this on to youse....

It seems that there are Ancient,Modern,Dress , Regimental tartans and Area specific Tartans ( as in if you can trace yer family back to say Argyle )

All are right so it goes on your own taste.

Here is a site I found that explains it...http://www.tartanonline.com/tartanonline/tartan_a_c.html

Thank you so much!!!!! I really appreciate you sending this when you haven't felt well. Hope your feeling better.

**Sheryl, now I feel terrible, I hope you understand my second opinion theory. I was not scolding in any way. Based on past experiences I just feel better when people I care for go for 2nd opinions.
Most times people go with the first doctor but I just feel like it's an insurance policy. My words are out of concern.
I deeply apologize if I hurt you in any way.

Update:

They got the results of the bone marrow biopsy and it is AML (Acute myelogenous leukemia). She is going to be transferred to Vanderbuilt tonight or in the morning. This is a VERY good thing. I am so grateful she is going to be in MUCH better hands up there.

Thank you all so much for you prayers and good thoughts. They mean the world to me.

Ann do you leave Saturday?

Yes, our flight leaves Saturday morning at 6 am. The thought of leaving that early just makes me exhausted. Our original flight was at 9:15am, but Jet Blue kept changing it. DH is thrilled because we will have a full day in WDW. Wish me luck, I am a little worried about DS traveling. Two year olds are so unpredictable. I hope he sleep most of the way!!

WFD- mom made homemade potato and egg salad, steak & mushroom sandwiches, and mussels in white wine as an app!

DH is just getting home. Off to get him leftovers my DM sent.
Ann

Ann Just in case I miss you have a great time.

Sheryl Sorry Angelina had such an experience. Perhaps the doctor didn't tell her because of the pain involved, some people tense up making the pain worst. I hope that makes sense. I do better knowing what is going to happen but some/most people rather not know. I'm not sure if I am making sense. I am glad you are still feeling good. If you want maybe I can pick my sources brains for home aid referrals. Let me know.

Nancy I am happy the baby arrived 7lbs is a nice size.

Lindsay Vanderbilt has a good reputation. I am glad your MIL is in good hands.

Scotlas Sorry you are still not feeling well I hope this passes quickly.

How am I missing? I am sorry I feel so out of sorts lately :confused3. Hopefully it is just weather related and I find my brain soon.:upsidedow

Not sure if anyone is watching American Idol, I am shocked that Matt is in the bottom three, WTH???????

You sound much better about all this, Lindsay! I'm so glad that she'll be in the proper place, getting the proper care. I'll continue to pray for her!
