The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

FIL called us early this morning. My MIL is resting comfortably in Vandy. She left for there before midnight last night and he is on his way up there now. I am sooooooooo thrilled she is up there. Our local hospital is the pits. You know how when you walk into a good hospital it usually smells like Lysol? You walk into ours and it smells like armpit. NOT good for a hospital.

Anyway, I will keep you guys updated.

Lindsay, So glad your MIL got moved. We have a hospital where I grew up and it sounds like the one she was originally in so I know how you feel. She will be in my prayers.

I think dinner will be cheese burgers. Andrew has practice and a scrimmage...last night's was cancelled due to rain.

I need to leave the baby for a while with Tom today (hopefully it will go OK)...gotta run to Macy's for a gift and outfit to wear to a bday party and Easter. My very good friend is turning 50 and the party is at the Chart House for brunch. I am so looking forward to this. We worked together (when I had to go back to work when A was 6 months old...most of you know my ex story) and worked right next to the Chart House. It is a beautiful location on a pier overlooking NYC...well, our office was on a pier right next to it so we looked at it everyday and that gorgeous view of the city. Ah, great memories!

OK, sorry to babble!

Have a great day!

Morning everyone, quick check in, lot's to do today.

Lauren- That sounds like it will be great, you get to visit with friends and brag about your new little guy. I'm sure Tom will be fine. If I ever learn how to post pictures I'll show you the view from my work. Wow. I honestly think I over look one of the most beautiful spots in the US. I overlook a salt marsh with the ocean in the backround. At the end of summer I get to watch baby osprey learning how to fish.

Lindsay- Glad she's in a better spot, one less thing to worry about.

Ann- If I don't check back in, have a great trip. I'm sure he'll be fine on the plane, it's a pretty quick flight. T.F. Green is my favorite airport, except when I live right down the road from it. My apartment was right near the walmart on post road, it was a little load for me. Anyway, I think tf green is great for kids, not to overwelming.

Okay, I have real work I need to get done. Hot turkey sandwiches for dinner. See you all, gotta go.

Liam said, "I thought I recognized that smell, but I couldn't figure out what it was!"

:lmao::lmao: You have quite a character there, my friend!

Update:

They got the results of the bone marrow biopsy and it is AML (Acute myelogenous leukemia). She is going to be transferred to Vanderbuilt tonight or in the morning. This is a VERY good thing. I am so grateful she is going to be in MUCH better hands up there.

Thank you all so much for you prayers and good thoughts. They mean the world to me.

I'm glad that she is moved and it comfortable. COntinued prayers for her health!

Yes, our flight leaves Saturday morning at 6 am. The thought of leaving that early just makes me exhausted. Our original flight was at 9:15am, but Jet Blue kept changing it. DH is thrilled because we will have a full day in WDW. Wish me luck, I am a little worried about DS traveling. Two year olds are so unpredictable. I hope he sleep most of the way!!

Just in case I miss you, have a wonderful trip and enjoy Luke's first visit in this magical place.

Last night Jeff picked up KFC for the guys. I had leftovers, I just could not eat those hot dogs :scared:.

Tonight will be easy, I am cleaning the cabinets in the kitchen and Buddy and Daniel are splitting that pile of wood. I know that the debris will be tracked in so I am not even starting my weekend cleaning until tomorrow. I may just make egg salad or something and I'll have a salad with eggs or something. WE'll see

TGIF!

Lindsay--glad to hear that your MIL was moved to Vanderbilt. Sounds like the best place for her right now. Continued prayers

Ann--Have a fabulous trip! I know the feeling of travelling with toddlers all to well. PD that he sleeps for you. My children were little devils on airplanes from about 18 months to 2 1/2; especially DS. But now, a year later, he begs me everyday to go on an airplane. Good thing we travel a lot I guess.

Not sure WFD tonight. We have leftover roast from last night. But it is Friday and that means Pizza night. We'll see what happens. Emma has a soccer game scheduled but we're also forecasted for severe weather tonight. In any case TGIF!!!!!

Drunco tonight! :woohoo:

Good morning. The weather here is just about perfect today!

So my lease paperwork is done and my DH is supposed to mail it today. Included in the paperwork is the intent to vacate notice for June 30. Guess I'd better find a place for July...

We just had a fire drill and 17 of my kids were perfect and 3 acted like they had lost their minds. Of course, they chose to jump down the stairs RIGHT in front of the principal. Grrr.

Anyways, off to tackle more papers...

Not sure wfd yet. John had to drive to a client this morning which means he'll be bringing the car into the city. We could go out to dinner, but it's restaurant week, so most of my favorite places are likely booked, and plus he has had to eat out for the past two evenings. I've been kind of craving morrocan food, so I might do that.

Ann -- Have a great trip! Are you bringing Luke's carseat on the plane? My two used to always fall asleep in the car, so we would bring the carseats on the plane, and they would fall right asleep there too. In any case, I hope he does well and sleeps.

Not sure if anyone is watching American Idol, I am shocked that Matt is in the bottom three, WTH???????

I was really surprised by that too. I was going to be even madder if he went home. Does anyone else not like this whole Sing for Survival thing they are doing this year? I mean, really, don't they already know if they are going to save the person or not? It seems a bit cruel to me.

Lindsay -- I am glad your MIL is receiving better care. for you and prayers for her.

Janice and Bethany -- I hope you feel more sorted out soon. I think if Spring ever decided to arrive, everyone would feel a lot better...at least until allergies kicked in.

I think I am making cheddar cheese soup tonight.

I'm sure Tom will do fine, have fun shopping!:goodvibes

I couldn't agree more Laura.:sad2:

Ann - Wishing y'all a safe and wonderful vacation!:thumbsup2

WFD - Some kind of take-out seafood, I'm craving some ahi tuna....

Ann - have a great trip!!!

Today is my day off and I'm actually getting more of it off! Tonight I am meeting some friends at the church for a show they are putting on and we're going out afterwards. I am not planning anything for meals this weekend but just piecing things together. I think I may go pick up ingredients for tuna casserole... it's a comfort food DH can't eat.

Ann Just in case I miss you have a great time.
Thank you!! I can't tell you how excited we are.

This trip we are going out of Boston on Jet Blue. We are use to Boston but I prefer TF Green. Thanks for the well wishes!

Luke's first visit [/U]in this magical place.

Nancy, this is his 6th visit to WDW. We are working on getting him:earsboy: honorary ears!:earsboy:

Thank you. DS flew well as an infant but last trip it started to get a little harder. He slept half way and then all heck broke loose. I have my bag of surprises pack, and the blankie!

Thank you. He does have his own seat and we are bringing his carseat. Fingers crossed he sleeps for most of it being such an early flight.

Ann - Wishing y'all a safe and wonderful vacation!:thumbsup2

Thank you, talk to you all in a week!

Ann - have a great trip!!!

Thank you!

Busy morning today getting everything together. I am off to get a last minute haircut and Target afterwards. Dinner is going to be takeout.

I will most likely be on briefly tonight. Talk soon.
Ann

Tom will do fine!!! Have fun!

Lauren I didn't know you worked in Weehawken......Greg & I go to the Chart House for cocktails for the view......We had Easter brunch there last year!

Ann have a great time!!!! Take pictures & travel safe:thumbsup2

Ann, Have a wonderful trip!!!

Janice and Bethany, Hope you're feeling better today!

Maria, I worked in Weehawken for about 3 years after I left my first husband and had to get a job fast (I was a part time bar tender and needed a real job)...right in that blue and white building next to the Chart House that was always shown on the Sopranos opener (where the Spirit cruises leave from)...actually watched them rebuild the CH from when it burned down. It was a great location to work...seeing the skyline, watching the cruise ships dock, going to Houlihan and the Chart House for Happy Hour...now, the commute was a witch...that city traffic was killer.

Robin, I would love to see the pics of the view where you work. We (maybe not me since I am an idiot with pics) can help you post them...

OK, babble over.

Tom did OK with the baby...says the baby was figity (sp) most of the time and he could not do anything else. :confused3 Baby is fast asleep now.

Hey Y'all,

I hope Sheryl's OK, she's probably busy with her i-phone.....;)

You are always taking care & worrying about us! No not fooling with the iphone. I had to tempt fate by saying I feeling good lately & cancelling that appt! Woke up with my neck & shoulders hurting, numbness down my right side (opposite side than my norm). I'm tired & a little dopey on muscle relaxers, that aren't helping yet.

Thank you so much!!!!! I really appreciate you sending this when you haven't felt well. Hope your feeling better.

**Sheryl, now I feel terrible, I hope you understand my second opinion theory. I was not scolding in any way. Based on past experiences I just feel better when people I care for go for 2nd opinions.
Most times people go with the first doctor but I just feel like it's an insurance policy. My words are out of concern.
I deeply apologize if I hurt you in any way.

Maria, I'm not hurt, I understand you are just concerned! Believe me I expected everyone to have the same thoughts. i am going to hold off on making another appt. just yet. DD's surgery is next Fri., so I'll see how that goes. You know "see the surgeon at work".

Lindsay, I'm glad to here that she is in a good hospital! More prayers :flower3: & hugs!

Yes, our flight leaves Saturday morning at 6 am. Ann

Ann, Good luck getting ready tomorrow! I'm sure you'll be fine! Have a great time!

Sheryl Sorry Angelina had such an experience. Perhaps the doctor didn't tell her because of the pain involved, some people tense up making the pain worst. I hope that makes sense. I do better knowing what is going to happen but some/most people rather not know. I'm not sure if I am making sense. I am glad you are still feeling good. If you want maybe I can pick my sources brains for home aid referrals. Let me know.

[I am sorry I feel so out of sorts lately :confused3. Hopefully it is just weather related and I find my brain soon.:upsidedow

Thanks Janice, Angelina is feeling better today. We have another aide coming to meet us on Saturday. The owner of the company begged Bob to give them one more chance. I'm quite skeptical but we'll see.

My brain has been out of it quite a bit lately. I just blame it on age & stress. I hope it is just the weather & you feel better soon!

I ended up making breakfast for dinner last night:

You make simple foods look so fabulous!:worship:

If I missed anyone please forgive me, as I said I'm medicated. Don't know what's for dinner. I had big plans, stuffing some baby artichokes with some kind of seafood stuffing. But that isn't going to happen today. If it's not storming I might get Bob to pickup something or I'll fix something easy!

Take care friends!

Lauren, I goofed on your multiquote! Glad Tom did alright with T, I know leaving him the 1st time must have been hard. I hope you found yourself something cute!

Happy Friday, everyone! It's sunny today, but very cold! Tomorrow we'll warm up to the mid-50's, then back to snow on Sunday:scared1:

I think Alan and I are going out tonight. He mentioned something to that effect, and I plan to hold him to it. I'm wanting some Greek, and we have a little hole in the wall place that's really yummy! The nice thing is that they will do a low carb bowl for me with a chicken or lamb shish-ka-bob, on top of a Greek salad. So yummy!

The kids will stay home, and have tomato soup, or mac and cheese. They can decide when they get home from school.
