The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

Marilyn, I think that might be the case. I usually have a hogh tolerance for pain but this wrist thing is BAD! And things keep happening like the baby flinging back while I am holding him, my friends dog jumping on me...OUCH! I could cry in pain. I know I am stupid for not going to the dr but I will take my naproxen and go get a splint to wear.

Thanks everyone for thinking of me.

OK, gotta take Riley out - I've been trying to clean all morning and not getting far...Maybe I should go put a bra on so the girls aren't flopping around when the pre k gets off the bus and I am out there with the dog! :scared1::lmao::rotfl:

The Dr. will probably tell you to take the Naproxen and get a splint. The splint should make it fell a lot better, if not it probably means you'll need surgery.

And :rotfl: no need to scar the little kids for life!

Welcome back Wendie!

Dinner tonight will probably be a hotdog at the game. Getting a few more things done here at work then heading out for the first one, then home for a short time and back out to the next one.

A real quick fly by - sorry. I'll try to catch up later.

Well I am finally at work. We had quite the blizzard last night lasting till late this morning. We got almost 8" but Doug's parents, just 15 miles west of us got over a foot. This is the 3rd major snow storm of the year and it is still October. :scared1: I can't wait to see what the rest of winter is going to be like.

Doug surprised me last night with tickets to go see Foreigner tonight. I am so excited. We need to go about 75 miles to the east and they got NO snow so we should not have any problems.

So dinner tonight will probably be a beer at the concert. LOL No time for dinner, the concert starts at 7:00. Oh what a girl has to do!!

Have a great weekend everyone. I have ANOTHER funeral to serve tomorrow morning. They are just getting brunch - omlets and cinnamon rolls. Real easy. Is it November yet.

I am a vampiress. Is there such a thing? I have no idea how I am going to have a glass of wine, there are fangs in teh way!

Ellen- have a good time.

You are having a tough time there this past two weeks!

:flower3: Hey Friends!!...I would love to come home again?!!?...Love you all!

Glad you are back! We all have our days where we need some time to ourselves, but it is good to know we are all here to lean on one another.
No need to ask, or have "your tail between your legs." You are one of us and we will all always be here for each other. Love and hugs with a warm welcome for your return. :yay:

Maria, she is going to look so darn cute. She is wearing a homemade family gown, which I love. No video, but lots of pics. I had lunch today with my DB. He gave me a hug and an I love you sis. No other words needed either way.

Just got word one of my other DB's and his family will not be attending on Sunday. My god-daughter either has pneumonia or swine flu, and her brother is running a fever and is going in to be tested for H1N1 also. Disappointed but better safe than sorry around the kids.

Ellen, enjoy the concert, what a nice surprise. Sorry to hear you had another loss, my sympathies to all.

Nan, have fun tonight... :headache:men!!!!

Robin, costume sounds great

Emma is crying gotta run, BBL

Lauren – I’ve been living with severe wrist pan for 2 years. My doc says mine isn’t cts but it’s the worst pain I’ve ever had. Maybe since I’m now established with an orthopedist I should go check it out. I’ll be praying that you can get some relief for your vacation.

Robin – Thanks for the scampi recipe! I think I’ve seen that episode, it sure looked great!

Maria – We’re going 2/12-2/16, I made my ADR’s on the phone for Il Mulino, blue zoo, Citricos and Kouzzina.:goodvibes

WOO HOO! Wendie came home!!!!!!! Didn’t I tell you, you’d be welcomed back with open arms?;)

Sheryl – So sorry you have to rush and cook the chili.

Ellen – Have a wonderful time tonight!!

Nan – Nothing would come between me and my wine, rip the freaking fangs out girl!:thumbsup2

Ann – I’ll be thinking of y’all and wishing I could see Emma in her gown.:flower3:

:flower3: Hey Friends!!
I know I sort of dropped out of sight with no explanation. Some of you have kept up to date a bit with me on FB.

I owe huge apologies for not keeping in touch on here and being in "print" letting you know that you all have been in my heart, thoughts, and prayers.
I have lurked almost daily and just have not been able to get myself to jump back in. I feel awful for leaning on you all through some rough times then not being here for you all when you needed to lean.(I can say that I have prayed daily for you all, and have read all posts and sent strength to those who needed it)

Kat has talked to me quite a bit about coming back, so I am here with my tail between my legs and my head hanging. I do promise to be a better friend to you all. :grouphug:

So if you all don't mind, I would love to come home again?!!?

Love you all!

PS- supper is roasted chicken breasts with fresh herbs under the skin, cheese rice and fresh squash and peas. (those of you on FB might have seen my posts about being sick with bacterial bronchitis and sinus infection..I feel like death, but this chicken has to be cooked tonight and Ross loves it this way...so like any other mother we suck it up, lol)

If we don't mind???? OF COURSE WE DON'T MIND!!!! Welcome home!!! I'm so glad to see you posting.

How's Ross doing?

It's a very cold Halloween Eve!!! We've had off and on freezing rain all day today. Ick!!!

Alan and I just got back from seeing the kids Halloween costume parade at the school. Luckily, Alan was able to take pictures on his phone, since we couldn't find our camera until it was too late to charge the battery. I'll have him download the photos and email them to me so I can post them here. The kids all looked so cute! Especially Timothy! He's the cutest little monkey!!!

Dinner tonight will be bean and bacon soup (from a can, hang my head in shame), and grilled cheese sammies. We have to eat early since we're going to the kids school to their Monster Mash party. Hopefully, we'll have a good time!

Crazy snow!!! Have a great night tonight - sounds like fun (esp the beer for dinner!)

I am a vampiress. Is there such a thing? I have no idea how I am going to have a glass of wine, there are fangs in teh way!

Take a straw..... nothing should come between a woman and her drink!;)

That was my suggestion, too! Straw!!

I came home with two more pairs of shoes  to add to the two I bought last night :rolleyes1 I need a 12 step program.

The weather is glorious here! No rain for a change and only 65 degrees. Lovely!

Talk about having to jump right back in... From now until after the first of the year we go ninety-to-nothing. In addition to Halloween, Thankgiving and Christmas, we have both kids bdays and our annivesary--not to mention all the school and work parties and such--and then there is that pesky marathon in early January. I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. That being said, I have done almost NO cooking this week. Prepackaged garbage and take out for us.

WFD tonight? More takeout I'm sure. We're hitting the local Halloween carnival tonight. Then I have to work 9 hours tomorrow, then trick or treating and then Scott and I are headed to an adults only party later. I'm exhausted just typing it all out.

And it's finally STOPPED RAINING!!!!:yay::dance3::yay: We've had 8 days of sun in October--and just yesterday we had 5 inches of rain. We're on track for an all time record for rain in a year here. Crazy!

Hope everyone is well, and I'm sorry this is all about me. I hope to get a chance to come back and catch up. I try to get on facebook from my phone to see what y'all are up to. The dis is just too slow for me on my phone for hte most part.

Okay, time to round the kids and their costumes up. Be looking out for some pics of them on FB.

Aimee, I ordered 2 pair of shoes & a few outfits for the baby due next month:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Steph have a great time at the party! Can't wait to see the FB pictures.

Kat, have you been to IlMilino before?

Ellen, hope you have a great time tonight:thumbsup2

Greg & I bailed out of 3 costume parties between last weekend & this weekend which I'm so happy about I HATE to dress up:mad: The were all costume mandatory parties....BLAH!

Dinner is left overs....

Maria - No, this will be our first time at Il Mulino, but Brenda highly recommended it!:goodvibes

Wendie Welcome back. You silly duck you don't need our permission( a little water humor) Jump back in.

Kathy Perhaps you would have a easier time making your ADR's if you name was Smith or Jones. Of course if someone could spell her own name :rolleyes1 Just kidding

Lauren get your arm checked out.Tommy looks like how Alex was a little short for his weight. I threw out my back more than once picking him up.

Tonights dinner is leftover pork chops and scalloped potatoe.

I always say we will go next time but have never made it.....I wonder if I should try to get ADRs for December w/ Mom:confused3

:rotfl2:

Nothing for dinner for me. Came home from the gym earlier with a stomach ache and it's just gotten worse.

I've only had breakfast there, and we did like it, but that was so long ago. In general, I avoid buffets now, and specifically, I avoid them in restaurants with Liam because of his allergies.

I am not crazy about buffets either. I go to the ones at Disney only for the characters. I can get character photos without standing in lines. I am not crazy about buffet food or the fact I have to go stand in line and carry a plate around and all that. The point of a sit-down meal at Disney is to, well, SIT as far as I am concerned!

Kat, do I see the start of a "mini" Disney meet?:goodvibes

I do. Although I find it a weebit funny that two people that live 15 minutes apart eat more meals together at WDW than at home. :rolleyes1

I loved looking at those photos of the F&W Fest trip on Facebook! :goodvibes

Laura, We are trying R&C for the first time this trip. I hope my picky eaters like it. All I know is I want a Welsh Dragon!

I hope your shoulder and arm are feeling better.

R&C = Rose & Crown, right? We ate there in 2005 and we had something that was essentially ground beef mixed in with mashed potatoes. Cottage pie maybe?

Hi gang, prep (cleaning, shopping and food) for the Christening was going good but we have a major snag in the day now. My DB called me last night very upset. My DB and DSIL are DD's godparents. They just found out my nephew has a championship game on Sunday. Normally not a big deal, they would come to the baptism and send their son with another parent because it is a youth league. My nephew was recently diagnosed with a heart condition and the Dr has told them no more contact sports after this year. My poor brother feels so guilty and did not want to call me. I totally understand, being a parent comes first. He is so worried what we will think of him for going to the football game. My poor nephew was crying that they were not going to the game. Football was a huge part of my DBs life, and he is very sad his son won't have that in his life in the future. My poor DB cried when he told me this was his last chance to see him play any sports, and how honored he is we chose him as DD's godfather that he feels he is letting my down.

I feel bad for your DB, being in a situation that puts him between a rock and a hard place. I also feel bad for your nephew, not being able to do what he enjoys.

So if you all don't mind, I would love to come home again?!!?

Welcome Home! :grouphug:

:scared1: Three snowstorms and it's only October. :sad2:

I've had carpal tunnel before. The pain ranged from tingling, similar to when your leg falls asleep, to a pain that the best way to try to describe it would be a hot knife piercing your wrist. Of course, I have no personal experience with actually being stabbed, but the pain I had from CTS was like a hot, sharp pain in the middle of my wrist.

You will eat well (again) on your trip!

It's a very cold Halloween Eve!!! We've had off and on freezing rain all day today. Ick!!!

Dinner tonight will be bean and bacon soup (from a can, hang my head in shame), and grilled cheese sammies.

Eeeewww. I am not a fan of freezing rain. I don't like the way it feels when it hits you in the face. :headache:

We had a lot of Campbell's bean and bacon soup growing up. We always paired tomato soup with grilled cheese though. I put some Worchestershire Sauce in my tomato soup.

Talk about having to jump right back in... From now until after the first of the year we go ninety-to-nothing. In addition to Halloween, Thankgiving and Christmas, we have both kids bdays and our annivesary--not to mention all the school and work parties and such--and then there is that pesky marathon in early January. Wow I got dizzy just reading that!

Greg & I bailed out of 3 costume parties between last weekend & this weekend which I'm so happy about I HATE to dress up:mad: The were all costume mandatory parties....BLAH!

I hate to dress up too!

We had our Fall Fair at work today. I was outside all day. I was supposed to be roaming in the morning and doing popcorn in the afternoon, but I got re-assigned to do the Penny Toss game. It was windy and the plastic cups kept blowing over, but it was still a fun day overall. I have a sunburn now. YES, you read that right... I got sunburned arms (and face, despite wearing sunblock and it was mostly cloudy :confused3) the end of October!

Laura - your kids rock.

Thank you! Most of the time, I think they do too. Liam was on my not-rocking list earlier, but he used his frustration to clean his room. It's spotless! I am shocked, and of course, he is back to rocking. I'm still checking for pods. ;)

We are trying R&C for the first time this trip. I hope my picky eaters like it.

I am sure they will. It is standard pub food. Have a great trip!!

Ann -- I'm sorry Emma's godparents can't be there. I am sure it will be a beautiful ceremony. I'm also sorry to hear about your nephew's condition. I hope he can find something else to be involved in that the doctor approves of.

So if you all don't mind, I would love to come home again?!!?

Welcome back!! I have missed you. No need for apologies.

Ellen -- Enjoy the concert.

Aimee -- With the deals you have been getting, you deserve more shoes!

Stephanie -- Wow! You have a busy couple of months ahead of you. Try to find some time to relax amid all the chaos.

Kathy -- I hope you feel better.

The kids were supposed to have dinner with my neighbor's kids and watch The Sound of Music, but my neighbor's daughter spiked a high fever this afternoon. There is strep in the class and my town is filled with H1N1, so we canceled. We had pasta, turkey meatballs and bread.

Happy Halloween, everyone! I probably won't get back here until Sunday night at the earliest. Have a great weekend.

I feel like I need to warn you all! Don't make that caramel pop corn if you are thinking of dieting or dieting. I could eat the entire bowl myself. I wrapped it up so it's muffled cries won't haunt me tonight. :rotfl2:
