The WALDORF ASTORIA ORLANDO and HILTON BONNET CREEK Information Thread

Is the breakfast buffet at Oscar's still only on weekends?

I'm sorry I didn't notice if it was a buffet or not. We didn't eat at Oscars, but I did notice that it was operating like a full service restaurant everyday for breakfast.

Oh, that's ok...I'll just suffer through it by ordering the Eggs Benedict from the regular menu if necessary :rotfl:

We actually purchased a extra large Rice Krispie Mickey Head at the MK and ate that for breakfast....a few mornings :rolleyes1:thumbsup2

The complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby bar area was excellent. I love the tea!

Tea Forte is wonderful. After my husband and I took an adult only trip and stayed at the Waldorf in November 2009, he took note how much I liked the tea at the Waldorf.

He looked for it when we got home to get some for me for that Christmas, asked his boss's wife for help, and she suggested calling the Waldorf to get the name of the tea, then ordering it on line.

I find the tea good hot or cold. He ordered a tea set made for ice tea. I buy the little pyramids as well as the loose tea of the flavors I like best, after trying all the flavors in the big tea chest I received for Christmas.

It tastes really good at the Waldorf though, as it is free!!

So, as far as parking goes...is says $13 self parking and $20 valet. So if I valet, am I paying $20 plus $13? If its only $20 total I'd rather just valet since its a one night stay.

You pay only the valet parking fee. Have a great visit!

Going back to Bonnett Creek for F&W, this time staying at the Hilton!

Can someone please tell me about the standard room at the Hilton Bonnet creek? Am I going to be looking at a parking lot? Does it have a balcony? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was a mix up with my ressie and I was originally told I was booking a Disney view and when I called to confirm today, they only have a standard. Im so upset =(

Actually, now that you mention THIS upgrade, we DID get a free upgrade to a Disney view!!! I forgot about this upgrade, because when we went to check in, we did ask about another upgrade to a suite, and were denied (without paying of course!). We booked a non Disney view room through Expedia, and DH called Hilton to confirm the reservation and then at that time, they did offer to upgrade us to a Disney view room because of our HH status. Sorry about that!! I was fixated at the thought of not getting the suite upgrade!:lmao: Quite honestly, the upgrade to a Disney view only costs only $5 or $7 more (I can't remember exactly) after booking. So go ahead a book a non view room (the cheapest category), and then ask for an upgrade, and the worst they will tell you is you have to pay a nominal fee per night, or at best, give it to you for free!

I called and they said that since I booked through an outside travel agency and they cant see the price we paid for the room, they would not let me pay to upgrade to a Disney view. Any suggestions for getting around this somehow? I dont want a free upgrade, I just want to pay for it, but the manager I spoke to said there was nothing he could do. Seriously???

All the rooms (aside from the suites) are the same, so a standard room at HBC is actually standard view. You won't be looking at a parking lot exactly, but perhaps you might be looking down at the parking garage. The view you have will be out of the front of the hotel, looking over to trees. If you are higher up, I think you might be able to see over past 1-4, but not sure.

HBC doesn't have balconies.

We recently stayed at the Waldorf (next door) and had a "standard view" which would be similar to HBC and it was just fine.

Also, I'd wait until you check in at the HBC and ask about an upgrade at that time. I'm sure if you are willing to pay for the upgrade and they have it available at time of check in, I'm sure they'll accomodate you.

Have a great stay, you'll love the HBC.

Ask for a high floor. If you have a high floor, I wouldn't worry too much about the view. There's really not much of a Disney view.

Thanks so much for the info! The manager I spoke with last night said he couldnt let me pay for an upgrage, because I booked from an outside agency, and he couldnt see the rate I paid. Do you think I might be able to bypass that at check-in? Thanks Again!

Going back to Bonnett Creek for F&W, this time staying at the Hilton!

:cool1:

I was just at the Hilton Bonnet Creek two weeks ago, and I will be returning on my next WDW trip. I absolutely loved it and it blows away Disney's Deluxe resorts!

With Hilton's Great Getaway promotion, I booked the room for $119+tx/night and had a free breakfast voucher for the Harvest Bistro every morning. Plus, since I'm Hilton HHonors Gold, I was given a free upgrade to a high floor and a Disney view. With a deal like that, I could not walk away from booking a stay. Plus, the place is gorgeous with a wonderful staff.

I could see Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom from my room.

He can't see your reservation and that's one more reason why I book directly through Hilton and not through sites like Expedia or Priceline. If your reservation is refundable, why not cancel it and rebook through Hilton? The Great Getaway promotion ends today and is good for stays by September 5.

If you can't cancel, do you have status with Hilton's rewards program?

I booked through my credit cards rewards program.....so we got 4 nights for $3. We had Disney view at the Swan booked and the view was important to us, so before I cancelled the Swan, I called HBC and specifically asked if I booked through my credit card rewards program, could I call back and pay an upcharge for the Disney view. She said absolutely, it usually runs around $10 extra a night and to call back. When I called back, I spoke to another rep and a manager and they both said there was nothing they could do.

I am an HH member, but havent used my card in YEARS, so I dont think it has any pull. LOL

Wow, awesome deal!!! Maybe the upgrade was available at time of booking only. But I would still try another CS rep from the credit card rewards department just in case somebody else knows how to help you out.

And if that doesn't work, I suggest to call the hotel the day before you arrive so they have a better idea of your upgrade chances. If you have your HHonors card, show that too when you check in. Can't hurt ;)

I found the staff very helpful and pleasant when I was there. I'm sure they'll do their best to help out. You are going to be very happy you decided to stay there. Crossing my fingers for your Disney view and a great trip!

You got an awesome deal for the Hilton! Our first trip, I booked via Expedia and therefore had paid our hotel stay in full to them rather than the hotel directly. I thought this might affect any chances of an upgrade. DH who is the HH member called the Hilton reservation line (NOT the hotel) prior to our arrival to confirm the reservation and asked the agent about upgrades. She automatically gave us the Disney view because we are HH members. Maybe you can try to call the Hilton reservations # to confirm your room reservation and ask them about the upgrade rather than the hotel manager? I recall when we went to the hotel and asked again about the upgrade to the suite, the manager said that we would have to pay an additional $75 a night for the suite since we had booked through expedia.

We recently returned from the Waldorf Astoria Orlando a few weeks ago and this time we did book our room directly through the Hilton website for a standard non Disney view room at the Hilton Bonnet Creek. When we arrived at the Hilton we asked to upgrade to a suite at the Waldorf with a balcony and disney view, and they gave it to us for an additional fee which we gladly accepted because it was still way way cheaper than rack rate for the suite at the waldorf!

I wouldn't worry too much because I am sure when you arrive at the Hilton to check in, just ask if you can pay to upgrade for a view, and if the hotel is not busy I can't see why they wouldn't give it to you especially if you are willing to pay for it. And worse case snenario is you don't get your view, but you still got your hotel room for a great price. The fireworks are not that exciting anyways from Epcot because they are so small and you can only see the tops of it! Don't let that ruin your stay. The hotel ammenities are fabulous and you have the Waldorf next door too to enjoy.
