The WALDORF ASTORIA ORLANDO and HILTON BONNET CREEK Information Thread

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling that would be the answer since they offer you to pay to upgrade when you make the reservation. Sad that they do not even give you a Disney view if available without charging more.

Actually, now that you mention THIS upgrade, we DID get a free upgrade to a Disney view!!! I forgot about this upgrade, because when we went to check in, we did ask about another upgrade to a suite, and were denied (without paying of course!). We booked a non Disney view room through Expedia, and DH called Hilton to confirm the reservation and then at that time, they did offer to upgrade us to a Disney view room because of our HH status. Sorry about that!! I was fixated at the thought of not getting the suite upgrade!:lmao: Quite honestly, the upgrade to a Disney view only costs only $5 or $7 more (I can't remember exactly) after booking. So go ahead a book a non view room (the cheapest category), and then ask for an upgrade, and the worst they will tell you is you have to pay a nominal fee per night, or at best, give it to you for free!

The offer to upgrade in advance is $20 per night discounted from $30 which is no small potatoes. For 5 nights, that is the cost of a dinner. I'll wait and ask at check in. Maybe we'll get lucky pixiedust:!

Sorry for misquoting the price to upgrade....I am getting totally confused between the Waldorf and the Hilton. We stayed at the Waldorf last summer and got the free upgrade to disney view by calling. We are staying at the hilton this summer and got an offer to upgrade to disney view for a minimal amount, certainly not $30 though! I would suggest you try calling the reservations line and asking them first like we did and explain that you are HH member, rather than wait until check in and asking there. The agent may just upgrade you right on the spot! Sending you pixie dust....I know my DH is secretly hoping to upgrade to the Waldorf too, but I am pushing for the Hilton because I think my young girls would prefer the pool area here.

I agree with you. We decided to stay at the Hilton last June because we had our daughters and knew they would love being close to the lazy river pool. This time I am attending a conference without them and so am looking forward to checking out the Waldorf to have a comparison. Thanks for the pixie dust!

Good to know about asking for an upgrade! I'm a HH member and stay a LOT at Hiltons during the year due to work. We'll be staying for free with my points though so am not sure how they'll feel about me asking for an upgrade :lmao: BUT I always ask! I used to work in a hotel and if they asked, I would give it if I was able to. So I always ask nicely and if they don't have it, no problem!

Don't know if it's already posted here or not. If you want to see a good shuttle schedule for HBC and Waldorf, go to www.bonnetshuttle.com. You can plug in your date, starting and ending points, and it give you the pickup times. It's just for the current week, but the times usualy only change if a park is open later. If you have internet on your phone, it's better than carrying around the paper schedule they give you at check-in.

Had a great time here the other week on my trip!!!

Thank you for posting the Mears shuttle link! I've updated the first page's transportation section with the link:goodvibes

I looked back and on the web sites of each hotel. I could not find any info either way. I was looking to see if either hotel HBC or WA has airport services such as checking bags at the resort or checking in at the resort. TIA

No they don't, sorry. Well, at least the Hilton doesn't I know that. I took the Mears shuttle to the hotel and back to the aairport and brought my luggage with me.

You're correct and the WA doesn't either. If you need assistance booking transportation, the concierge can help you.

We usually stay at the ritz but thought we would give the Waldorf a shot. Does anyone know how deep the pool is? I really cant stand shallow pools as I am tall.

We were just there over Memorial Day weekend...I don't know about the zero entry pool, but the other pool is 5 feet deep in the center, and around 3 feet at either end.

We were fortunate enough to have a cabana on Saturday and Sunday, and the experience was wonderful, as always :goodvibes. I also ventured down to the Lazy River pool at the Hilton and couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it...

And while I'm raving about the Waldorf, I'd like to add that my hubby didn't bring swim trunks. We thought we could just buy some at the gift shop at the Hilton, but it is closed...but no problem...the concierge staff at the Waldorf had some for him in less than an hour!

I cannot say enough about the excellent service there, and we cannot wait to return!

Ok thank you for replying, its as deep as the Ritz then.....Deepest pool in Orlando Hyatt Grand Cypress.....Love the pool detest the property!

The great thing about being somewhat local...being able to book a last minute weekend away at the Hilton:cool1: Looking forward to hanging by the Waldorf's pool and then hitting up World Showcase:thumbsup2

Really? I like the Concierge level at the Hyatt but don't know about the other rooms. I liked the bike path there, the climbing wall, and their water slide. It's nice but expensive.

We stayed at the Hyatt many times but the little miss pageants have killed it for us. We always seem to time our vacations during these silly pageants. Along with the inevitable lobby melt downs the elevators are packed and slow. Don't get me wrong the Hyatt has the best pool and grounds in Orlando and the room re-model is very nice but I am coming down to relax not witness bad-parenting on a whole new level......flame away.

I found a Waldorf Astoria booking code today (MWA04) in Washingtonian magazine good for:

20% off select rooms

20% off spa treatments

Breakfast for two daily

20% off rates at the golf club

The rate was good for April, May and June. Call: (407) 597-5500 to book. I don't know if the code can be used online.
