The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

This is what I'm trying to make, but I think my little light is not strong / bright enough because it's more like an LED.

Now I want to make Throwies! ::yes:: They look cool, super simple and ... best of all...cheap. :thumbsup2
http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-Throwies/

But magnet free, don't want to cause a riot by encouraging my guys to throw them at cars or something.:lmao:

Those look like little tinkerbells in a jar. I want one.
What do you do with those throwies things? They look cool, do you decorate your yard with them or something?

We are headed south towards Ft. Lauderdale and Miami today...just waiting for our final load of clothes to dry before we leave. Our plans include visiting a sea turtle hospital, another water park, snorkeling, Ft. Lauderdale flea market, airboat in Everglades, coral castle thingymabob (my sister said it's cool), visiting an old friend that lives down that way and then finally home on Easter Sunday.

And yes...this is considered a relaxing Alison vacation!:rotfl2:

We did Epcot, 2 water parks, a shopping day, beach day, jewelery show, had dinner at Cocoa Beach pier....and somewhere in all of that I actually let people get an hour or two of sleep!:lmao:

Morning and happy Tuesday ladies!!

Bernice that is cool! My girls would love both of those! You know when I lived in Seattle they were always talking about Sun lamps because of it always being so grey and the whole depression thing but I don't think that is what they were talking about LOL. But still those are cool. If you end up making them you will have to share pics of yours!!

And Rochelle you are more than welcome. I am glad you live close enough to Disney to be able to go and spend a nice day like that. I think that could cheer up just about anyone!! You are a pretty, intelligent and nice gal and I am positive that you will do great! It just takes time. This is a tough thing to get over and it may sound weird but you actually grieve the loss of a boyfriend/husband the same as a death in a way. So you have to go through the same stages, denial, anger, acceptance. There are a few more in there but those are the main ones. But like I said time is the biggest factor and every day it will get just a little bit easier but keeping yourself busy and your mind off of it is the most important and don't let yourself wallow in it and sit around and be depressed. That is what I did a few times and it just makes things worse. Making your crafts and getting out with friends or even by yourself is the BEST thing!! You are going to be FINE!! ((hugs)) :)

Hi to everyone else and hope you have a GREAT day!

It is raining here! YUCKO! I was so looking forward to a nice week so the girls and I could do some fun stuff but it is not looking that way.

I think today we are just going to hang out around the house and do some housework and watch some videos. I still need to get their hair cut (and mine as well) and they need new swim caps and goggles for swim next week. I am hoping to take them to a movie and possibly the mall and then on Friday my mom and possibly my dad and I will hopefully take them somewhere if the weather cooperates. We were thinking possibly the city (SF) but now we may just go downtown. We have Sutter's Fort here and believe it or not I have NEVER been. Lived here most of my life and never went LOL.

Then we were thinking of taking them to the capitol and governor's mansion and then lunch on the river. They have a fun restaurant that looks like an old paddle wheel riverboat. But again it all depends on if it is raining. If it is it won't be much fun.

Have a great day everyone and talk soon! :)

Alison your plans sound like so much fun! Usually when we go to Florida it takes our entire time JUST to do DW and maybe a day or two at IOA. Someday I would like to do some other Florida attractions as well. We DID go to Cape canaveral one year and it was SO worth it but I would like to do some of the stuff you mentioned as well.

Enjoy!! :)

It's nice to see chatty posts yet again. :goodvibes

I have a project in mind, need to sleuth the thrift store for a jar or something.
At Target they have really cheap solar lanterns/stakes, $2 off printable on Target.com brought down the price for $1. The pieces can all unscrew so it is just the top with the solar panel and the light underneath, looks like a hockey puck with an LED light sticking out.
For now I put it in a glass vase but it doesn't look that "nice", it makes kinda cool nightlight though in my bathroom.

I read on a DIY site of making your own "sunshine in a jar" .. the real ones costs several hundred dollars!
Those sound interesting and cute. :goodvibes

Whew!! :faint: Have a fun week Alison! :dance3:

Morning everyone! Have a great productive day!
You too!:goodvibes

Kelly, Those were great words of encouragement for Rochelle. :grouphug:
It's not raining here yet, but it looks like it's going to start anytime now.

Today is Sew and Chatter day for my Mom and I. My DD Becky is coming today too. We are working on making a "mobile" for the nursery. The theme is woodland creatures. I'm making them out of felt, and blanket stitching around them. This will be trial and error. :rolleyes1 As I really don't have a pattern.......just some pictures that I'm getting ideas from.

Everyone have a great day! :goodvibes

Thanks Mel. Unfortunately I know this stuff frome experience. But I guess we all have been there done that eh? ;)

I bet you are getting SO excited to meet your new grandbaby! I know I would be. NOT that I am in ANY hurry to be a grandma, just saying!! LOL ;)

Have fun with your sewing. I so wish I could do that. I am hoping it will skip a generation and the girls can do it. We spent a whole day at Joann's a few weeks ago and the girls signed up for a crochet class and mom bought a few more patterns and some material although the LAST time she bought some fabric it is STILL in the bag LOL. She is one of those that LOVES to buy the stuff but never actually makes anything LOL. She used to though. She made a lot of my clothes and her own when I was little but not so much anymore. She also used to crochet blankets etc. Just too busy I guess.

Have fun today with your mom and dd!! :)

From what I read on the website.. a group of guys created them with very strong magnets called "rare earth" tossing handfuls at metal structures... bridges, cars, construction sites as part of some social statement. :confused3

People also make them (without the magnets) to light paper lanterns for outdoor wedding receptions.

Alison's whirlwind trip reminds me of our last hoorah running around all over southern California with the in-laws one weekend right before we moved back to MN.
The in-laws dragged their feet, all pooped out.. meanwhile my family and DN-the-Marine were raring to go go go!

I like the trips were we went to see lots of different things, soaking up the vibe of the place to compare to the next. Not sure if we could go go go as much now.
E's hip is bothering him again, called his nurse to have a pain med called in by his nephrologist. When he went to pick it up.. wow! Large tall vial full plus three refills. His co-workers teased that he could make a tidy profit selling them. Yeah sure, enjoy the ill found money sitting in jail.. no thanks!

We had a nice short day downtown.
The flower show was beautifully done, but very very crowded. Nice to see a bit of green and smell fresh flowers while we wait for the trees to wake up. The grass is greening up, but no buds on the trees.
Wednesday forecast is in the mid 70's :yay: we can't officially say our winter is over until May though. We've had 80 degree day and a blizzard the next day. DS was born April 11th during a blizzard, we were wearing shorts the day before we went to the hospital to be induced!

Today just hanging out at home, cool and blustery wind... brrrr.

Thank you Kelly for your words of encouragment  It really means a lot to me. You guys are all so sweet and your words really do help me and have helped me through this. I know I will reach that light at the end of the tunnel eventually. I am trying to do things for myself.

I think I just have moments where I have separation issues where I miss him. I don't miss his behavior or how he treated me but I miss his physical presence and just having someone that was there. I hope that makes sense. I am getting better and at least I got used to not living with him. When he moved out last summer I just re-decorated everything and made everything my own.

Kelly, you are right. This is a mourning period and I'm not wallowing all day long and I'm not miserable all day long. At least I can function at work and am doing things for myself. The crafts and things do help and it makes me happy. :goodvibes:

Thank God I never married him and I am thankful I never had kids with him. Ughhh, that would have been so much worse! :sad2:

I don't want to deal with him anymore. I hope I can get past this all and just enjoy my life. Honestly, I think I am happier without him. I don't have someone belittling me and making me frustrated and bringing out the worst in me. I'm a happy person and just having someone drain everything from me and pull me down is not healthy.

I hope he doesn't contact me because I don't want him in my life. If he does contact me, I know he is going to pull the sympathy card. I always ended up feeling sorry for him and I can't let that happen again.

I worked on another bag last night. I bought the applique online and sewed it on myself. Here is what it looks like:

I hope I can sew well. I am taking 2 classes at Joann's next month. I never had that in high school and just never really learned now to sew.
