Wendy - thank you for being so gracious about our hockey win last night. I have a few American friends who have a case of sour grapes and have been letting the world know how displeased they are. Needless to say everybody up here is estatic over the win. They had to close down streets in Toronto because of the crowds of people that were out celebrating.![]()
I can imagine!! After all, hockey is THE sport of Canadians!! It would be like us losing in baseball or something. It's un-American. Ha ha. (is "un-Canadian" a word?) It must have been so crazy over there.
I know it is disappointing to lose, it is just the attitude that some friends have been displaying, it has been a bit distasteful. No need to be a sore loser, I certainly didn't act that way towards them when the US beat Canada last Sunday.![]()
Both teams played a good game - it wasn't malicious or bad sportsmanship, it was just plain good hockey. Sometimes you get a lucky bounce, sometimes you don't. Crosby even said that he just aimed it at the net and didn't even see exactly how it went in, five-hole or not - but just shot at it. So sometimes things just work in your favor. It was like that for the US last time, for Canada this time. That's the way it goes.
I so don't get the sour grapes/sore loser thing.
I saw it as kind of having the best of both worlds. It was a great game. Both teams played well. The US lost, but Sid scored the winning goal. I'm cool with that.
Congrats to Canada!
I agree. I probably knew more players on the Canada team anyway - ha ha ha... and although in the NHL I always go with my team over players, this time I didn't necessarily feel the need that the USA *had* to win the gold. I was happy for my Canadian duckies to win the gold for their country. Especially since it doesn't look like they're winning the cup again this year. Ha ha ha ha.
