HELLO!!!

February 27 I had TKR and we went to WDW for my birthday in May. For anyone else considering this, here was our experience:

RENT A SCOOTER. I kicked and screamed initially yet wisdom prevailed and I'm SO glad it did. We stayed at SSR and I would scooter to a park, inside the park, then park the scooter and walk as much as I could tolerate. Learned I couldn't tolerate nearly as much as I thought!

MIDDAY break to ice and elevate is a MUST.

Bring an old fashioned Ice bag to refill and apply as needed.

If you can afford it, stay at a resort with a hot tub as well as a quiet pool.

Don't forget the pain pills......

YMMV,

Jenny, planning a December trip with TWO new knees!

ECV is still the way to go for me. I had both knees done last year (9 months apart) and went to WDW 4 months after the first knee and 10 weeks after the 2nd knee. I just got back from WDW and still rented an ECV. I've discovered that my feet an ankles swell after doing a lot of walking - even wearing compression stockings. No pain from my knees thankfully but I've still relied on the ECV if I need to do long park days.

I just wanted to also note that I bought an inflatable wedge to elevate my legs/feet at night while sleeping for this last trip and that seemed to make a huge difference. There's several options on Amazon for around $20-$30. It was easy to inflate with the bag inflater and it packs down fairly small.
