Good Morning All!

sj&K, what an amazing daugther you have!

Jenny, so glad to hear that Ed is coming home next week. Don't go crazy with the cleaning as others have said. My prayers and best wishes are with the both of you.

We are having pizza tonight. I am going to try and get alot of the cooking dome today for DS's party tomorrow. We are having corned beef, cabbage, carrots, bolied potatoes and shepherd's pie.

It is snowing here and they cancelled school, so I have a little helper today!

Have a great day!

My mom needs help with her printer so we are going to her house tonight. She offered to grill us hamburgers and we accepted!!

WFD at your house?

We're going to have a DIS-week for dinner this week. Last night we had the Not-sagna Toss--Yummo! And tonight will be Velvet shrimp. My kiddos won't eat anything I cook recently, so I decided to stop trying to make them happy, and cook stuff I like! DS has gotten so picky, he's even stopped eating hot dogs! Oh, and I'm going to make Glynis's Apple Toffee French Toast for breakfast tomorrow--think it will be yummy and comforting with the little cold snap we'll have!

Kathy, you boil them & stuff before you freeze the artichokes?

I stuff them, steam & freeze.

No cooking here tonight or tomorrow, baseball, will probably get blackened redfish tonight and boiled crabs and crawfish tomorrow.

Steph - I hope you enjoy the velvet shrimp!

Thanks Kathy, I just came home from the grocery. They have fat-free half & half now! I going to give it try & I'll let you know if it's okay!

LBAK, So sorry for your family's loss.

Ladies, how do you store all your recipes on the computer? Anyone have an easy suggestions for the not so computer savvy, like me?

In My Documents folder I have a folder titled "Recipes". Within that folder I have other folders with categories, like beef, chicken, meatless, sides, etc. When I find a recipe I like I print it to a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) and save it in the corresponding file. I have thousands of recipes, but cook maybe once a week :(

I have a laptop so this works well for me. I don't print the recipes, I just bring the laptop to the kitchen.

I used to print or cut out every recipe and file them in folders, but that eventually took up too much space.

If I can get to the store this morning I'm going to make roast for dinner.

Stephanie, I guess you and I are on the same wavelength. I am also planning on making Kathy's velvet shrimp for dinner, I just have to pick up the shrimp from the seafood market today. I have been really looking forward to trying it. Kathy, if you see this post, what kind of bread would you suggest?

Wendie, the hamburg gravy last night was a big hit. DH loved it and said he hadn't eaten that since he was very young. The kids loved it because, as they said, "this is plain food", which although it doesn't sound like it, is a compliment from them. Thanks.

Gretchen

Does anyone still use a good old fashioned recipe box? I do, I got mine from Martha Stewart years ago and I must have a thousand recipes in there!:)

I probably need to upgrade my recipe storage system. I could put all of them on the computer, but I couldn't print them because our printer is very touchy. Right now, anything that is not in a cookbook is in a large Ziploc storage bag. That includes my handwritten recipes that I have copied, and the recipe cards and magazine cutouts that I inherited when MIL passed away. DH only has one brother, and his wife doesn't cook much. Maybe a recipe box would be a good idea for me!

Tonight we will be eating out, again-I usually only cook Sunday through Thursday when I am working and we've kind of kept that up since I've been off work. We haven't decided yet where we'll be eating but it will be somewhere around the mall-as much as I hate going, DD is outgrowing all her clothes! Have a great day, everyone!

I have a recipe box! I've had it since college. It's actually kind of beat up, I should buy a replacement.

Tonight I am making more recipes from this month's food and wine. A seared proscuitto wrapped halibut on spinach-asparagus puree, and these funky little fried potato fritters. If the recipes come out tasty I'll post tomorrow.

I did end up making the hash and it was good, though I picked all of the chicken out of mine and just ate the potatoes and the eggs, plus a big green salad.

Hey Nancy, I'm a NANA too! (noticed your post on the pay grandma for CC thread) I take care of my niece & she calls me Nana!

Sheryl

I saw a picture of her on another thread. She is so cute! I am a parent helper in Kady's kindergarten class and when it was time to go the teacher asked her if she wanted to give Nana a hug goodbye. I had about 15 little ones dripping off me that afternoon :cloud9:! She had forgotten that I am Nana to all of my DGD's friends :goodvibes

Recent lurker (thanks Kathy & Sheryl) and have to add I have a recipe box too! And a binder, and on the computer- I'm a foodie, I can't help it!

Last night was smoked ribs, german potato salad, and apple wedges. And tomorrow is corned beef in the crock pot(thanks for the recipe Kathy!) and grilled bacon wrapped cabbage wedges with green beer!

Thanks everyone for being so creative with dinner and sharing.

No cooking for me tonight! It is really snowing here right now and so I decided to play it safe. I made a huge bowl of tuna salad and DH is munching away already. If we have power it will be tuna sandwiches and tomato soup tonight. If the power goes out ....just sandwiches.

Thanks bengalbelle! :thumbsup2 I'm going to try that. I have a laptop also & carry into the kitchen with me, so that should work great! I was trying to use a business card program but I couldn't see the whole page at once! I had to keep scrolling up & down with lemon juice covered hands. Not so great for the laptop!;)
I just realized we've been chatting with each other on the remodeling thread! Sometimes I think my brain is on OFF!!! :upsidedow On the other thread I invited you to come chat with us on the Metro Nola thread!! Guess you know about that one already!

That is so sweet, but 15 kiddos hanging on can't be good for the back! I haven't had the guts to volunteer in her preschool yet! Maybe next year, she'll be going all day. I told my DD when she has my grandbabies they could call me Nana also. She didn't seem to like the idea very much. Alexis would probably hate it, too! Right now, she introduces me with "This is MY Nana", with the emphasis on MY!!!!

WELCOME Lori!!!!!! It's about time you've stopped all you're lurking ways!:goodvibes You're St Patty's meal sound delish!! How do you fix the bacon wrapped cabbage wedge? Is it as easy as it sounds?

I'm hoping to go out to dinner tonight! But it's Lent & the seafood rests. here are super crowded on Friday nights! If not, I still have a ton of the lemon spaghetti left, so either pan seared mahi-mahi or I might just throw some shrimp in the spaghetti.

They do get possessive, don't they? I only have her right now but I don't think she is going to enjoy it when there are more.

Welcome to the WFD thread! Come back and post often.

:welcome: :jumping1: :welcome:

Yeah! I'm not cooking at all tonight! Going out to dinner, made an ADR at a local rest. Is is still an ADR if it's not Disney?! :goodvibes This place has charbroiled oysters on the half shell!! YUM can't wait!

Nancy, Alexis is very possesive!!! But I don't mind. :cutie: Her Grandmother recently passed away. My sister-in-law is 21 years younger than my DH. Both her Mom & Dad are gone now. So, DH & myself have seen a change in our relationship with his sister. Somewhat more of a parenting role with her. And we feel very much like Alexis' Grandparents! My SIL's hubby was raised by his grandparents & thankgully are still around. But both of them are in very poor health & not able to do much with Alexis. I'm just happy that I am able to spend the time with her.

Welcome Lori! So glad you're no longer lurking:rotfl: , I too want to hear more about the bacon wrapped cabbage!
