"We are currently going to be sailing in the Australia and New Zealand region up until February 2026. We will not return for the 2026/2027 season," Tristan, from Disney Cruise Line's shoreside guest services leadership team, told Yahoo on Saturday morning.

Still doesn't count as an "official announcement" but Tristan sounds knowledgeable

Maybe they did what other people did... the author just contacted the call center and asked to talk to a "supervisor", and Tristan might have read from a script... In theory, any of the cast members do "represent" the firm, so he would be a representative from that perspective, but definitely not the official PR person...

In saying that, I can't recall other times where Disney has explicitly answered questions like this before the next season's itineraries have been released. The fact that numerous people have been in touch with DCL and have been told definitively that Aus/NZ won't be continuing, almost points to the fact that CMs have been directed that they're allowed to answer this.

I am one of those people who were told directly by DCL over the phone- you are right, it was incredibly direct, and it’s now in multiple media outlets this morning in Australia too.

I wonder if the cruise lines are watching the overall trends in travel right now and are preparing to respond to the ongoing drops in travel to the US from other countries. I imagine any effect wouldn't be immediate since cruises are often booked months or even years out but where I live I'm hearing a lot of people saying they'd rather travel to other countries right now.

As a Canadian I felt comfortable cruising from the US in 2024, but I was very glad that we had booked our 2025 trip to Europe. We had planned to book a Disney cruise in 2026, but I deliberately booked an itinerary that departed from a non American port. I would like to do a Caribbean cruise in the next few years, but I will likely use a cruise line that has departures from Guadaloupe or Martinique (French territories that have direct flights from Europe and Montreal) rather than Florida.

I'm not sure what percentage of DCL cruisers are from outside the US, but I've heard so many stories of people cancelling trips and looking at other destinations that I have to wonder if these trends will have an effect on the cruise industry's plans going forward.

Perhaps they want the word to trickle out to try to firm up bookings for this winter in the final (for now) Australian season?

There is a recent post in the New DCL ships post that shows the steel cutting ceremony for the 4th Wish Class ship. The theory is that this marks the time period of when that ship will launch. According to the post that would make it April 2027 based on recent history. Could this be potentially why DCL is holding off releasing the new itineraries which would include spring 2027 ? I’m guessing they don’t want to list that one on itineraries

This could make sense. While they typically announce the new ship itinerary separately- if the new Wish #4 were say taking over the PC spot of Wish #1 that would be glaringly obvious if they release a batch of itineraries for the other ships and the spot of 3/4 cruises from PC is left out.

This convo seems like it could easily get political (and would be better on the controversial board if the poster feels like answering those questions). The poster said they weren't comfortable and alternative plans without going into details (and so was following Disboard guidelines to keep all political conversations to the controversial board). I would hate to see this thread closed before we hit the 50 pages apparently needed to unlock the new itineraries

I'm not trying to provoke anyone, just chipping in with the trends and preferences that I'm observing in my part of the world. And I"m not sure why anyone would assume I'm not cruising with Disney next year; there are over 140 cruises leaving from international ports in 2026 so I had a lot of options to choose from! I love visiting new places and interesting ports, so I'd love to see DCL leaving from new home ports and exploring different destinations in the next release.

I don’t actually think there’s any reason to feel that the math adds up on that.

The Treasure steel cutting was on Jan 19, 2023 and its maiden voyage was about 23 months later on Dec 21, 2024.

Destiny had steel cut on Nov 8, 2023. Her maiden voyage will be November 20, 2025. (23.5 months)

That puts Wish 4 at mid July. July 4th if they are faster. I don’t see April as a strong possibility.

Steel cutting to maiden voyage is 703 days for Treasure, 743 for Destiny. If we are on a tight schedule that puts 700 days at July 10, 2027 for #4.

I stand corrected on this, google definitely told me the steel cutting was in March 2024. This timeline does make more sense though, and even if the maiden was in July 2027 they still have around 1 month of preview cruises, which would put the arrival date sometime in June.
