Well, the Velvet Shrimp have been put off until tomorrow. DH came home at lunch today and he wants "snacky, game" food for tonight--Purdue and Arkansas play basketball tonight--so I guess we're spending the evening downing wings and things in front of the TV.

We're having grilled pizzas and salad for dinner. I think I'm going to make my pizza with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and diced tomato. For dessert DS and I are making chocolate lava cakes with vanilla ice cream.

Stephanie, I guess you and I are on the same wavelength. I am also planning on making Kathy's velvet shrimp for dinner, I just have to pick up the shrimp from the seafood market today. I have been really looking forward to trying it. Kathy, if you see this post, what kind of bread would you suggest?

Wendie, the hamburg gravy last night was a big hit. DH loved it and said he hadn't eaten that since he was very young. The kids loved it because, as they said, "this is plain food", which although it doesn't sound like it, is a compliment from them. Thanks.

Gretchen

That is why my ds loves it also!! I love that it is soo simple, and yet still yummy. Glad it was well liked!:goodvibes

Ok, I didn't make this tonight, I made it last night (Thursday), but thought I would share anyways. It's perfect for Lent. Spicy Crawfish & Shrimp Pizza with a side of cheesy garlic french bread.

I got a couple of those pre-made pizza crusts (thin style) at Walmart. Then I mixed up some alfredo sauce with a little bit of Ricotta cheese melted in. Cooked up some crawfish and some shrimp and seasoned with a little garlic. I topped the pizza crust with the alfredo mix, topped with the crawfish & shrimp and then started dumping on the cheese. It was great. We're having left overs for dinner tonight.

Enjoy.

Oh boy! Tonights dinner was a disaster! :scared: I tried a new recipe I found for spinach lasagna and let's just say that it did not work out. :p

Sorry, I didn't see it in time.:sad2: We normally do either Italian bread or garlic crescent rolls, but anything dipped in the sauce should be yummy!:)

When I made your delicious recipe, we had toasted french bread for dipping and it was delish. I don't think you even need pasta - just dipping the bread in the sauce would be great! I forgot to mention that when my Mom visited I made it for her and she loved it too!!

DD made tuna melts for us this evening. Buddy had a fire going and I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up when I heard Marisa asking if she should make one for me :).

ETA this is the extent of my DD's cooking.

I'm sure they were awesome after your nap!;)

You're right, next time I'm leaving out the pasta. So glad Mom loved it as well!:goodvibes

They were! And what was even better there was no cleanup to speak of. I really should not say that because Jeff and Marisa always do the kitchen cleanup after meals. I cook and they clean up and put the food away. They have the hard part because I send meals over to my Aunt so we are always out of containers for leftovers.

Today we are going to Sticky Fingers and going to see Premonition. So no cooking for me!!

WFD at your house?

Last night was supposed to be Brined chicken breast but I got a late start on cooking and had to see my neighbor son compeat in his pinewood derby. So tonight dinner is all cooked just need to cook the sides sauted snap peas and rewarmed garlic chicken breasts maybe rice too.

LindsayDunn228 let us know how the movie is. I want to see that one. I really like Sandra Bullock

I didnt' cook last night- ended up going to bed at 5pm with a migraine. I think it was the worst one I ever had. Imitrex does NOT work for me. My family went to my inlaws house and were fed there.

Tonight I think I'll do roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes and peas. Although there is also a pork roast in there that would like to be cooked. Decisions, decisions.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!:shamrock:

Mermaid--Hope you headache is gone soon!!

Well, we ended up with wings, homemade cheese fries, pizza bites and beer last night. At least one of our teams won! Tonight will be the Velvet Shrimp--can't wait! Oh, and glynis I have the Toffee Apple French Toast readyto put in the oven as I type. Gonna put it in the oven and head out for a run--what a great prize to come home too--incentive to finish faster!

Thanks bengalbelle! :thumbsup2 I'm going to try that. I have a laptop also & carry into the kitchen with me, so that should work great! I was trying to use a business card program but I couldn't see the whole page at once! I had to keep scrolling up & down with lemon juice covered hands. Not so great for the laptop!;)
I just realized we've been chatting with each other on the remodeling thread! Sometimes I think my brain is on OFF!!! :upsidedow On the other thread I invited you to come chat with us on the Metro Nola thread!! Guess you know about that one already!
I've dropped in on the NOLA thread a few times. But my 6 month old limits the amount of time I can spend on the Dis, so it's hard to keep up with ongoing threads.

We're hoping to finish our household projects this weekend in preparation for selling our house, so it'll be sandwiches and takeout for us.

I've had a terrible chest/head cold since Tuesday and today is the first day I've woken up feeling half human.

I think we're going to have pizza burgers and fries tonight. Not terribly healthy but I haven't really eating in a few days and it sounds really good!

mermaid- hope your feeling better. I too have had a migraine for the better part of yesterday and still this morning, I think it is the weather that triggered mine. Imitrex does not work for me either. I find that the only thing that takes the edge off is fiourcet other then that a nap and a dark room.
Mosmo- hope your cold clears up soon- spring colds are awful!!

Tonight we were supposed to go to a party but the weather has changed those plans so we are ordering in pizza. Ds and I will also bake a cake of some sort for dh as it is his b-day today. I will make a chicken noodle soup for tomorrow though. I like to make it a day ahead so the flavor melds, mmm.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Just wanted to drop in and say hi! I am busy preparing for my DS's bday party. We are having corned beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, shepherd's pie and chicken tenders for the kids and big kids that do not eat the holiday food. I cut my finger really bad...it is purple now from having the bandaid so tight. :)

We had a bad storm yesterday so DF is trying to get the driveway shoveled, plowed or whatever...I am not used to country living yet but we need a plow. I went from living in a brownstone apt in a NYC suburb to over an acre of property...Thank God for neighbors....

OK I am babbling again...guess I am excited...:) :) :) Have a great day!

Happy St Patty' Day all!

First, hoping that all of those under the weather start feeling better. It has been a long winter and Spring seems to be teasing us this year.

I don't think I am cooking this evening. DD and SIL want Chinese take out and that is fine with me. Saturday is an errand day for me and it will be nice to have an afternoon to look forward to our favorite treats!
