It was super dated! Maybe that was for nostalgia or people who have never been to Hawaii. The partners involved in development have been invested in Hawaii for decades so there's that. Looks like it will offer over double the jobs for operations. I don't think it will block views but it will be pricy. At first I second guessed, why another luau in the same area, but I realize now that people who come back to the area repeatedly will want to try new things. It beats having yet another hotel crammed in that space I guess.
I had to read up on the project just now. This was a comprehensive site:

eta: I don't know one of the partners: blacksand capital...might dig a bit there. Ok I AI their background/projects, they are actually connected with one of the other partners I do know. They revitalized and highlighted an unsung gem of a hotel in Waikiki recently so I predict this luau will be good or at the very least heavily 'influencer-ed'.
