zalansky,

Did you feel the earthquake today??

DS 10 came out of his room and said "my whole reom just shook and moved" I laughed and said it was probably because I had shut a door hard.

It was at the exact time there was an earthquake, I guess. I just saw the story on CNN.

How weird.

Ladies, I need an intervention ASAP! I have about $150 worth of maternity clothes in my Old Navy shopping bag, and I don't really need any of it. I guess I'm just feeling especially dowdy these days b/c at this stage with Jimmy (about 4 1/2 mo.), I could still wear my clothes. That is no longer the case. I know I will wear everything I buy, and I am especially self-conscious about dressing b/c I have to stand up in front of 6 sections of middle schoolers 5 days a week (they can be a cruel, judgemental audience). Also, my b**bs are huge. I'm talking men stop and stare huge. I've gone from a 36C to a 40D (getting ready for a DD) since the beginning of June. I know a lot of the stuff I have with buttons isn't gonna button or it will pucker like crazy.
I am planning on selling all of my maternity stuff on eBay when all is said and done. I bought some really nice stuff when I was pg with Jimmy and have managed to keep it in good shape. Heaven forgive me, but when my BF asked to borrow my maternity stuff, I didn't give her the expensive stuff I bought from the Gap. I just didn't want it to get ruined or washed a million more times.
What do you all think?

floridafam - My MIL is the queen of sneaky, catty, snarky comments about lots of things I do. After SIL had her first baby, MIL came to my yard sale and bought a few of my old things for SIL. In her words SIL hadn't lost all of her baby weight yet, and my clothes would fit.
When I'm pg she'll stare at my stomach and say things like, "You look good." I particularly like the up and down stare before she speaks to me.
Btw, your chicken salad sounds really good and I don't even eat mayo. I love those rotisserie chickens from Sam's. You can't even buy a 5lb. chicken for the $4.88 they charge.

DH is drilling holes in the attic. What for, I have no idea. Jimmy woke up from his nap and is now sacked out on the sofa while I type.

I did manage to get my spelling tests graded. I have to enter their grades into my online gradebook tomorrow morning.

lissawynn,

No intervention from me. I say buy the clothes. :rotfl2: A pregnant woman deserves to look good. I bought a ton while pregnant with Kona and got a good amount for them resale. I regret not buying more cute stuff while pregnant. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

Do you have a discount code to use??? I had one but it expired last night. I have a good one for the Gap.

lissa- BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!

I bought quite a bit from Old Navy when I was pregnant with Molly. I liked all of it. I think it will resell well, and like you said, you need clothes for your work. You can't just show up in a paper bag as a teacher.

I think $150 for a lot of maternity clothes is excellent. You certainly cannot do that at Motherhood or Pea in a Pod. And ON almost always has free shipping with a purchase over $75.

It looks like Alice28 and I won't be getitng jobs as counselors at Shopoholics Anonymous anytime soon. :lmao:

Nope, and unfortunately I doubt that will come as a shock to anyone here...they know our weakness FF! :rotfl2:

;) floridafam and Alice - I knew you ladies would be in my corner. I guess I just feel like I shouldn't buy so much stuff b/c I was going to try to start my Christmas shopping soon. I feel kind of silly spending the money on myself.

I just had a LONG post typed out and then lost it! Jenna just woke up, so I don't have time to retype it all. :furious:

Happy Birthday, SL and Cameryn! :cake:

Loretta- Have a great b-day tomorrow! :bday:

Valerie- You can view my website at any time. I will PM you with the address. It is also listed in the DIS Mom's Directory.

floridafam- Got my exchange name. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Hi to all other DIS moms! Maybe I'll have time tonight to retype what else was lost.

Lissawynn - Buy the stuff! I have bought loads more stuff this pregnancy, like you say it gets washed and worn so much that some things need replacing, I must have spent like £150 easily which I guess is about $200, but I got some cute stuff!

DisneyPHD- I love your curls! They are wonderful, I have always wanted curls but my hair is so heavy that it just drops them out straight away.

Loretta - I am glad that you remembered the balloon, did it cost you much to get filled with helium? Sometimes places can be funny about filling balloons that you haven't bought from them and charge a lot. Please post some pics of Cam's party, I wouldn't worry about the amount of people there family parties are always much better!

Kim- The flight is at least 9 hours depending on the route, if we chose to fly with Continental and have to connect at Newark then it could take much longer, but I think could be better as at least they would get a chance to have a run around at the airport?? My only other worry is terrorism, followinf what happened recently in the UK I am cautious.

SL - I love your new pic of Lucas! He is a doll! Happy birthday to you!!

Today DH and I have been gardening, we still haven't finished as we ran out of bark mulch it looks better now but I am so tired now and we haven't eaten dinner yet and it's 9.30! Nevermind eh!

I am also dreading my first day back at work tomorrow I am wondering if my Manager will say anything to me about last week, but I doubt it to be honest.

Anyways must fly, got to get FOOD!! popcorn:: popcorn::

Quick post -

Disneyphd, love the pic of you adn the kids, your hair looks great! And so do you :thumbsup2

Disney costumes are at Aldi's (if you have one by you) for only $14.99

I went to Target but there were no Disney items at the $1 section by me :confused3

Catch up more later

Yes, but this is different than just buying fluffy stuff. I always thought it's hard enough being pregnant, I at least want to look halfway decent and feel somewhat attractive. With my first I just bought really cheapie maternity clothes (but also, like you, did not NEED them until month 5 or 6) and felt like such a putz the last couple of months because I had nothing I felt good in. With Joshua and Molly I thought, "to heck with it...I don't care if I am only wearing these clothes for 4-5 months, I'm buying them." And I had about 5-6 outfits that I could mix and match and it was great. Since you're wearing the same clothes at least once a week, I feel you get your money out of them anyway.

I was lucky to have an Old Navy nearby that stocked the maternity, and the two times I went shopping, they had MEGA MEGA discounts- like $5 maternity blouses/tops and $10 pants. It was so great!

Yes, Gems, you need to go eat! Have you ever been to DLP? If so, feel free to give me some tips!

J&D - sorry you lost your post! Irritating!

GLT- I saw the Target ad today and once again I must venture out there this week.

Ladies- if you don't get the Sunday circular, Target is having their baby sale this week- great prices on baby basics, Playtex bottles, Pampers and Luvs diapers (you get a $5 gift card for every two mega packs of these brands that you buy!)...

In fact, I noticed LOTS of items that if you bought it, you got a $5 Target gift card for next time. I plan on going on Tuesday and picking up the new Lego Star Wars game ($5 GC with purchase) to set aside for the boys for either S's birthday or Christmas, and some diapers. And I noticed my vacuum doesn't work well on the carpet upstairs- I don't get it. It works great downstairs on the Pergo and area rugs, but the roller thing won't spin upstairs... :confused3 They have a cheapie vacuum for $45 that I may get no matter what, cause I would like a vacuum for upstairs and one for down. Makes life easier.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! We're cleaning out our mountain of toys trying to throw some things out.

Liam absolutely LOVES this Barney toy that sings and lights up. I guess i'm in for another round of Barney with this one also. I guess it's not that bad....

Floridafam - I sent you a PM about the VS coupon.

Loretta - I can't wait to see pics of your trip. We are renting points for our stay next Spring at Beach Club Villa's. It's still in the planning stages, but we're excited! It's a great way for a family to stay at a deluxe. Maybe next time we'll stay at Boardwalk.

Lissawynn - sorry you couldn't get down to OC once more this year. Once you start school it's hard to get back into beach mode. Did I ever tell you the story about getting Kevin's first haircut in Ocean City when he was 18 months old? There is a Salon/barbershop near Hoy's on 34th street and we decided to get his hair cut on vacation. He screamed so much that the woman could only cut half of his hair! We had to cut the rest in his sleep. He was 18 months old at the time. Funny thing is that DH and Kevin went there on vacation to get haircuts and DH told the stylist about that haircut. I actually wanted to get Liam's first haircut there but he's not ready yet.
I don't blame you for buying new Maternity things - I did the same thing because I was wearing the same 3-4 things all the time. Sorry to hear MIL made comments to you. It must be nice to be so perfect and make everyone else feel inadequate!

DisneyPhD - you have such beautiful hair!! Even your DD's have a great head of hair!

Gems - hope your day back to work tomorrow turns out ok!!!! :teeth: :) Let us know how it goes. How are you feeling these days? Is the baby starting to kick a lot?

Alice - LOL at the intervention you did for Alissa - I also agree that $150 isn't bad for maternity clothes. It's harder dressing when you have to go to work and look proper - I used to drop food on my shirt and I always got stains, so I tried to keep my work clothes in good shape to last me through the work months.

Ginamarie - good luck today getting your china cabinet organized. It sounds like everything is going well with your move, so that's good news.

Diskim - Sounds like you had a great time at the picnic. Sorry to hear about your FIL. :grouphug:

Joats - Just today I reintroduced some different kind of veggies to my son and he loved them - especially the string beans. I absolutely hate string beans, but everyone else likes them - I just think they taste yucky - but they are healthy. Good luck giving Jace different kinds of foods! Sounds like you had a great night out eating Mexican and enjoyed your Margarita!!!!! :teeth:

Jill - Kevin absolutely loved soccer - the kids were just so cute playing and running around. He can't wait to go back next week. Sorry you missed Katie's goals. Hope you're still doing ok balancing school, home and work. How did you do on the test the other day? You are brave having a full house of girls for a sleepover!!!! Hope it went well. You look great BTW - I wouldn't worry about you looking fabulous in your HS reunion dress.

Justine - I used to switch up formula every so often with Liam. Sometimes they were out of the Enfamil Gentlease so i'd try a different kind. I now use Similac but we're going to be starting milk any day now so my formula days are near over. Hope you had a nice trip to NJ.

Tasha - Hope you're doing well with school!

Nucpharm - Congrats on making over $100 on the sale. That's a lot of money! It will come in handy for your trip coming up in a few weeks!!!!

GLT - Hope your kids are all doing well in school!!! How is Leif's lip after last week's bug bite? Hope he's doing better!

Vald - Hope your son had a lot of fun at his soccer game over the weekend also. The weather here was great for the game, hopefully it was the same by you!

Buzznbelle - have the leaves started changing up your way yet? One of our trees in our backyard lost all of it's leaves already, but that's the only one. Usually our leaves change around mid-October. I really enjoy the crisp fall air.

Hi to Tamie, Dizagain, fabumouse and everyone else!!!

Thanks again to everyone for all the nice compliments! I really appreciate you ladies! Have a great night!

Hi ladies! The party went okay, it was good because Cameryn was happy but DH's family was the family in attendance...and I will leave it at that. In the future I know to invite my friends!!! Anyway here are a few shots and I am sorry they are big but photobucket has some new resizing feature and I used the one for message boards but the pics are still pretty big! Oh and don't mind my ugly yellow looking braces! YUK!
Next I will put up pics of our view from BWV. They didn't come out as good as I would have liked, but you can get the general idea. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I just wanted to pop in and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to SL and Cam! party:

Zalansky - Have a Happy Birthday tomorrow!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hillbeans - You are such a sweetie and always say things to make me feel better! :goodvibes I'm glad to hear that Kevin's soccer game went well and that he loves it! As far as school goes, I think I'm doing a terrible job at balancing everything so far but we are all doing the best we can under the circumstances. I think Liam is the next one for a birthday, isn't he?

J&D - According to my standards of learning, I need to do a demo on force, motion or energy. I was thinking of doing something with either simple machines or magnets. I appreciate your ideas that you passed along!

DisneyPhD - I love the haircut and highlights!

Lissawynn - I say "go for it" and spend the money on yourself!! :thumbsup2 You deserve it!

Robin - Thanks for the heads up on Target! :thumbsup2

Gems - Good luck at work tomorrow! :grouphug:

Justhat - I hope the wedding went well today.

DisKim - I'm sorry that Emmy is having such a hard time with the death of the crocodile hunter. :grouphug: (I'm sorry, his name escapes me at the moment.)

Hi to everyone! I know that I am missing a bunch of you wonderful ladies and for that I apologize! I will try to do a proper catch up tomorrow.

We all survived Meagan's sleepover. Actually the girls were great and very easy. They all slept in the basement so we didn't hear their partying and giggling....thank goodness!

I also forgot to mention that John now has 4 teeth! Nothing like getting four teeth at once! Thankfully, he hasn't been too cranky with it.

I'll catch up more with you all tomorrow. I'm off to do laundry and then bed.

ETA: Zalansky - I love the pictures from Cam's party! Cam is a beauty and I love her birthday dress! You look great too and I didn't even notice the braces until you mentioned them. They look fine and you can't hardly see them.

On the subject of Emily, do you thing a 10-almost 11-year-old is old enough to be home alone for maybe 15 minutes. On days that I have meetings after school (twice a month), I might be a little late getting home in time for Emily. I know I can trust her. What do you think :confused3 ? I can't put her in after school care because you have to guaruntee 3 hours a week and this is only 1 hour a month.

DisKim - I just saw your post on this. Emmy is the same age as my dd and this is the age where you can start leaving them alone for a little bit at a time. I know that most of the parents of Meagan's friends are starting to do this and I have left Meagan once for a little bit. As long as you trust her then I say go ahead. 15 minutes isn't a long time at all. If it makes you feel better, maybe have Emmy take a safety course like one they offer for babysitting. I'm going to sign Meagan up for one soon. Good luck in whatever you do! The kids grow up so fast! It is hard to believe that they are old enough to be on their own.

Thanks Jill!!!! :sunny:

Here are the Disney shots.....the first few are the view from our balcony. Gosh I miss it!

And here are the two better ones of Connor and Cameryn. It is hard to catch Cam smiling, by the time I grab the camera she gets serious again. Plus she hates anything on her head!

I do have a group shot of all of us (I call the very motley crew) though I hate how I look in it especially because I have humid head hair and well, you all know how I feel about the rest of the clan. Not to mention BIL's new girlfriend is a cheerleader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And decides to stand next to me - making me look even worse!!! Awww heck I'll post it even if it is against my better judgement and DH will probably get annoyed at me for posting his family. ***PLEASE NOTE - THE LOOK OF UTTER JOY & HAPPINESS ON MIL'S FACE. NOT!!!****

P1010096.jpg

GEMS - The store I took the ballon to charged me $.49 to blow up the balloon. I understand they need to make money but seeing I bought $35 worth of other things I figured they could throw me a bone and blow up the balloon as a freebie. Oh well. No biggie....but I did have the princess cake so the ballon worked out great!!! Thanks again...

Jill- Check out this website on simple machines. My kids LOVED exploring the house and the tool shed. You could set up a computer and go through it as part of your demo. I had to do that once when our wireless computer lab was down.
Link

Usborne currently has a Materials Library of Science book and an Energy, Forces, and Motion Kid Kit as Internet Specials.
Link

I would consider doing rockets to demo motion, forces, and energy. The kids love it. When will you be doing the demos? I can send you copies of some of the things that I have.

Loretta- Cute pics. I think you look like Vanna White in that first photo.

Lissawynn- DH and I always wanted a pinball machine too. A couple of years ago I found a great deal on ebay and bought it for my DH’s birthday. He was soooo surprised when we went to pick it up. It needs a little maintenance now, but I’ll have to wait until we have some more money.
You’re in the wrong thread if you want to get talked out of buying stuff ;) Actually, I got a lot of maternity clothes at ON when I was pregnant.

Alice- Oh gosh I’m going to be at Target again this week.

Zalansky- Great pics!!! Cam is getting so big! I totally wouldn’t have noticed the braces if you didn’t point it out. DSis(16) still has hers and they’re like bright blue or green these days. Your WDW pictures are beautiful, and made me want to go back so much! BIL’s gf may look good now, but I bet it would be a little different after a couple of kids!

The china closet ordeal didn’t go as well as hoped. I’m missing random pieces of china for some reason (11 dishes from the 12 I’m supposed to have). Hopefully the rest will turn up as I’m unpacking. We did luck out when we went to get the wireless modem router. It turns out it was on sale plus they had four items you could buy with the modem with 100% rebates, so they were free! They only had three of the things in the store, but for free it was worthwhile. I just have to fill out all the rebate stuff now. DH took Olivia for a walk around the block, which she loved, and she took a long nap while we were at the computer store. Why is it that she’ll nap when DH is around and then refuse to nap when I need to get things done?

My family went to the Mets game today (they lost miserably, but had a great time with all-you-can-eat food in the picnic area). We stopped at the house to pack more random stuff, and they were so happy to see us when they got back from the game. DSis(8) made my dad call us when they got to Shea Stadium because she missed Olivia already. I miss them too, but I’m doing pretty well with it. OK, time to get to bed since we’re still exhausted from all the moving and DH has to get up for work at like 4:30 am :(

zalansky--Love, love the pics--Cam looked like a doll at her party--and the pic of her in her Minnie outfit was too cute--however, I do have to say that I got a little envious looking at your pics of BWV--I told DH that "those were pics of what should have been our vacation as well" Oh, that darn green envy monster in me! I should really stop my griping though, I'm starting to sound like a spoiled child b/c we do get to go to WDW in April. Oh, and BTW, you look great in all your pics!

lissawyn--Buy the stuff!!! I ended up buying more maternity stuff when I was prego with #2 as well. My older stuff looked kinda worn, and most of it was for work, and I wasn't working anymore--so off to Old Navy for me--and unfortunately for my checkbook, Mimi Maternity! Love their stuff, can't stand the prices!

Jill--Congrats on John getting 4 teeth. Matthew just has his bottom 2 right now, but Emma didn't get any teeth until 13months, so this is early for us!

DisneyPhD--Love the hair!

Alice and FF--Could any of us be counselors at Shopaholics Anonymous?? :rotfl:

I am so excited to shop for my buddy!!!! I picked a little something up at the store today and Emma said "oh, is that for ME!!" I had to explain that we were sending to a friend mommy made on the computer--she honestly looked at me as if I were an alien, and then tried to convince me that it was for her.

Well, I better go--we've been having probs with our garage door coming off the track every few days or so--So DH is going to show me how to fix it if it happens this next week (he's going to be out of town the whole week--pray for me! ;) ) Hope everyone has a great night--Hi to all I missed (and it was a lot today, sorry!)
