Well now that we know that the lady with Ben lighting Candles isn't Daniel faraday mom. WHO IS SHE LOL

Nope, I think she IS Daniel's mom. Daniel told Desmond to find his mother at Oxford, but when Desmond went to Oxford, she wasn't there. But Desmond found out that Widmore was bankrolling DAniel's research, so he went to visit Widmore. Widmore gave Desmond an address for Daniel's mom - she's in LA. Which is where Ben is. So yes, the lady lighting candles IS Daniel's mom.

No, I don't think Locke picked the compass, and Richard seemed upset that he didn't. BUT....Richard asked the child Locke which one of those items was his. Locke didn't get the compass until the future, and compass really wasn't Locke's, it was Richard's, so that might be why child Locke didn't choose the compass. Does that make sense? (I know, not much on this show makes sense, does it? )

I think Locke picked the knife, which fits with his character. What you're saying does make sense.

The gal that had the gun on Daniel, he said she looked familiar, right? So is she the same girl that Desmond saw in the bed? The one that maybe Daniel tried to time travel? This stupid show sucks me in so bad!!!

So the girl - Teresa - that Daniel was experimenting on that Desmond went to see - does anyone else think that the girl holding the gun on Sawyer could be her mother? And possibly Charles Whidmore, her father? Daniel kept staring at her and said she reminded him of someone and she looked a lot like Teresa. And since Whidmore was on the island at that time and was funding the research for Daniel - it kind of makes sense to me. Did I make sense to anyone here?

You sure did! But my wife actually thought the girl holding the gun (Elsie or Ella, wasn't it?) was the same woman as Teresa. If she was on the island, maybe that explains why her brain is jumping around in time. And maybe it wasn't Daniel that did that to her, but Widmore asking him to try and cure her? Who knows? lol

If the girl's name is Elsie or Ella, then she might be Daniel's mother. Daniel's mother's name is Eloise (which is also the name Daniel gave his rat).

I thought so at first too but I thought that Daniel would have recognized her immediately than and not just thought she looked familiar. They would have known each other well. I think the girl being his mother would make more sense. He would have only seen pictures of his mother that young. Hair could have been down, she could have been dressed nice, etc. This would only make her familiar than. JMO

Once he sees this woman though and realizes he's met her before, it will draw him back into the island mystery. I think that's how the writer's are going to keep him and Penny connected to the whole story.

I think the time period they were in (1954) was before the DHARMA Initiative had come to the island...that seemed more like the 60's / 70's.

It is getting pretty confusing the time changes.

No, I know that they're before the Dharma Initiative now. During the season premiere last week, however, we saw Daniel with the other Dharma people underground.

I thought it was interesting that clearly the biggest %$&! on the island ended up being Whidmore. I love this show, but it makes my brain hurt trying to wrap my head around it sometimes!!

And Kara's right- what's with Sawyer and all those clothes?!!!

Yep, I completely agree with you. Especially if Ben is still there with that woman and both she and Ben tell Desmond that everyone will die until the Oceanic 6 go back to the island.

Now, how Desmond fits in with the Oceanic 6 is beyond me. Even last week, when Daniel was knocking on the Swan hatch during one of the time "bumps", he told Desmond that he (Desmond) was special and the "rules" didn't apply to him. HOW is Desmond special, and WHICH rules don't apply to him? More questions that we need answers to!

After seeing last night's show with the nuclear bomb.......Daniel told them that they had to bury the bomb in cement. Perhaps the bomb is the "power source" that's behind that wall they were drilling into when building the Orchid Station. Maybe Daniel did some time traveling to check on the status of the bomb??

Did anyone watch the rerun of the last week's episode that aired before last night's new episode? It had the pop-ups with additional info. It identifies the woman lighting the candles and talking to Ben at ELOISE Hawking. I'm thinking that she is Daniel's mother and IS the young girl holding him hostage last night on the island. Her name was Ellie, right?

I think that Desmond and Penny are fated to be apart. I think that at some point he is going to have to make the impossible choice between his family and stopping whatever his mothers "God help us all" comment from last week refers to. Since he is really the only one with anything to lose by going back he will have to play the role of this season's tragic character/sacrifice to the island (see also Charlie, Anna Lucia, Libby, Mr. Ecko, Boone and Shannon).

I thought the wall they were drilling into was the wall that separated the station from the "Narnia" where the big wheel was?

So if girl with gun really is Daniel's mother, is it possible she and Widmore hooked up and Daniel is actually Widmore's son? Could be why he would be his benefactor? Could also explain why and how Daniel came to be on the island?

I never even thought of that!!! I just assumed Charlie like everyone else!!
